Rum Punch Recipe
After spending time in Belize I have really enjoyed trying all their different rum punch's over there so I went on the hunt to mix up a good batch. If you want something different over the long weekend, this kicks ass.
¼ cup coconut rum 1.5 cups white rum 2.5 cups pineapple juice 2.5 cups orange juice ¼ cup lime juice I normally double the recipe and end up with about 3 quarts. If you want to make it red, add 3 tablespoons of grenadine to the recipe. (I skipped this) Cheers <O:p |

What if one were to put ice in that and put it in a blender?

Just keep it in the fridge for easy sipping when needed? |
I've been mixing Cherry Coke and Sailor Jerry lately. Very nice.

Great thread as I am very fond of Caribbean rum drinks. My favorite comes from the St. John area at the Soggy Dollar bar called the pain killer.
Soggy Dollar Pain Killer Recipe: 2 oz dark rum (I prefer Cruzan) 1 oz cream of coconut 4 oz pineapple juice 1 oz orange juice Mixing Instructions: Add all the ingredients to mixing glass. Shake well. Pour into glass with ice. Grate fresh nutmeg over the top. Raise glass and toast. |

I just usually mix rum (Capt' Morgan) with fruit punch.

I wouldn't have figured you for a "fruity drink" drinker...

Those of you digging the spiced rum, you should try Kraken.

I'm not saying it's a lot of alcohol but it's a lot of heavy volume with all that sugar. I could maybe have 2 of those drinks then switch to beer. |

Only. You realize that's more than an entire bottle of rum, right? 3.5 cups = 28 oz. = 828 mL 1 bottle = 750 mL |
Dark N Stormy > All other rum drinks.
|
151 rum, pineapple juice, and malibu.

No way I could put that much down in one pop and not feel like death. Yeah I keep it in the fridge and it's ready when I need some tasty goodness. |

Perhaps but if I were to drink that much I would be hung like a bull hamster and life would suck the next morning. I try to avoid that crap at this point. |

On a side note I go to some health food store that knocks out fresh squeezed orange juice and that seems to make a lot of difference in taste. I also use unfiltered pineapple juice. I'm telling you, this recipe is outstanding.

We should all try some oddball drinks this weekend and report back here with our findings. Do it for Memorial Day. Do it for the ones we lost. Do it for America.

Nice punch recipe. If you have any left on Sunday a.m - pour about 2 oz in a stem glass, top w/2 or 3 oz cold sparkling wine - I'd use Frixenet or some other Spanish Cava or an inexpensive CA 'champagne'. Feed this to the ladies til they're dancing on the patio.

I was just looking up some other rum punch recipes - found one really similar to yours, Bwana. An add-in this one calls for is about 2 oz of cranberry juice. If you've got it, give it a try sometime.

I screen saved this recipe. Gonna make. Just don't have the right event for it currently.

I have one more tip for making punch bowls for a party - get an old 'jello mold' from a thrift store/antique store - clean it good. A few days before your party, pour aboug 3/4 of an inch of cranberry juice in the mole (or use a tupperware bowl or something) and pop it in the freezer over night. Now pour an inch or so of orange juice an pop it back in the freezer, first thing in the morning. After work, top the mold off w/more cranberry juice and freeze solid for the party. Unmold by dipping the mold-bottom into warm water for 20 seconds or so (don't let hot water get in the juice) then turn upside down into your punch bowl. It'll look good while it melts - and adds juice instead of water to the punch.
My traditional summer rum punch involves a half gallon carton of pineapple-orange juice and a 2 liter bottle of Squirt or other Grapefruit soda, the juice mold above, and a cup of white rum, a cup of dark rum (sub tequila, vodka or gin if you prefer) There are better punch recipes out there - but this easy one works for me on a regular basis. If you don't have time to do the multi-layer ice chunk as above, just keep some juice ice-cubes frozen in the freezer, you can drink this punch on a regular basis by just pouring juice and soda into your pitcher (which the kids can share) then pouring some likker in your glass, adding juice-ice + juice and stir. Not quite a Paloma but easy and tasty. |
I've done the juice in the mold thing before...and added pomegranate seeds as well. That's to make it look like a wreath for a Christmas punch.
It works. Can make juice ice-cubes too. |
