Why didn't we sign Houston months ago?
If we were going to just backup a Brink's truck, we could have done that at any time. Why not do it earlier so that we could use that cap room during the prime Free Agency period?

Theres probably 100 different reasons why, reasons we'll never be privy to.
Shuffling around that much money cant be easy. |

Because originally what Houston wanted was probably higher. So they negotiated, and with other areas of the offseason, ie the draft, free agency, Andy eating barbecue, they now found time to get the contract done. Then, now, in reality it makes no difference. 50 is a chief. |
Because Alex Smith sucks
|
Ian Rapoport reported last week that they tried to sign him back in October for (wisely) less money. It was likely around the time he had 12 sacks in 8 games, thus he turned it down and essentially bet on himself.
It paid off, literally. You have to consider all of the things that can happen in the months from April-July before just handing the money out (see Jason Pierre-Paul). They played it just right. |

The same reason that Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant signed at the last minute - deadlines provoke action.

I like boobs.

Im sure there will be an Arrowhead Addict article on this subject later this week.

Didn't take long for someone to find something to bitch about..

Maybe he didn't want to sign so he could skip all the off-season crap.

Why didn't Clark give me 100 million over 6 years to hand wash his cars?
Amongst the many questions we may never know the answers to. |

Because Clark wanted to make as much interest of those millions as possible. So, sign him hours before the deadline.
When you got millions, the interest rates are higher on jumbo accounts. Mystery solved. |

If it was obvious trolling I could see the bitching but he had it pretty close |

This is for you Weatherman and your hard work and dedication to bring us assholes inside info |
Oh, and this means I can buy my Houston jersey now.
Hell the **** yeah. My only question is should I go authentic or get one personalized with his number and "THERAPIST" as the name?... |

Dorsey: How about 6 years 92 million? Houston/agent: Too low, you can do better. Dorsey: Alright, we got creative, and we think we can do 6 yrs 97.5 with 50 mil guaranteed. Houston/agent: Getting closer, you're in the ballpark. I'll come to town and we can figure it out from there. Clark: What's he say? Dorsey: He'll be here Tuesday, a couple details to workout, but I think we've got it. Weatherman's source gets details, thinks it's a done deal, but wasn't completely in the loop, and here we are. Point is, there's a hundred ways he could have had info that both he and his source thought was correct, but they were just a little misinformed. You got a family, or a job? Shit happens all the time when trying to make plans and get everyone on the same page. Fact is, he was so freaking close, it's not funny. |
This sounds like what they were discussing on Arrowhead Pride earlier today. About how they could have kept bowe as a #2 if they signed houston earlier.
Do people read that site and make threads about it over here? |

Better question is why would Houston sign early and force himself to go through all the offseason programs?
|
Quote:
Easy, if such info was leaked it would've immediately hit twitter ESPN/NFLN. He also stated the wrong amount (97.5 million) as it was a matter of fact, now if he hit that on the nose I'd believe him 100%. |

Because forgery is illegal?
You can't forcibly make someone sign a piece of paper? They never made him an offer that he couldn't refuse months ago? |

That's Schefter's job, if any murmuring of the sort would cause holy hell on every form of media to get the scoop to confirm. |

Are you saying Schefter has a tap on Weatherman's phone? |

He should have flashed these creds. I digress.

What would have been the reason to pay Houston prior to the deadline? There was zero benefit for the Chiefs. They managed to sign players they wanted, re-sign their own FAs.

Who cares. He is a Chief for a long time.

Up until that point we had no freakin clue if Dorsey was still making phone calls or if he just said, "**** it" and decided to take a vacation like Carl did. |

But anyone saying it was an easy guess is completely talking out of their ass. Most on that thread predicted Houston would accept the tag and then plenty felt he'd be so pissed he'd be out of KC in 2 years. Others in the thread predicted JJ Watt money was on the high end and that the chiefs would offer OLB money. He went on the thread, predicted the contract would be done by Wednesday, and predicted close to JJ Watt money. Pretty bold prediction. And I can't believe people think being off by $3.5M is not considered a "close" guess |

The discussion in this thread is matched in pointless stupidity only by the original concept of this thread.

It doesn't exactly take Nostradamus to predict a franchise player signing at the deadline. That's when they sign the vast majority of the time. Posted via Mobile Device |
