Hypothetical: Coming down a mountain
 

You're on top of a small mountain overlooking a town in Colorado. It's about six miles to town with about 2,000 foot steady downhill. There's a paved road, a dirt road, and many trails, some covered in snow and some clear. The temperature is pleasantly cool.

How would you prefer to go down the mountain to town?

A trail every time. Road if I'm injured.

Let me guess; you're confined to a negative pressure ventilator, and have a lot of time on your hands to ponder things?

Glad I am not the only one who had this pop in their head as soon as they saw the thread title.

I'm all about expediency. Zip line can get you down the mountain in about 4 mins. Done.

She'll be comin around the mountain when she comes.

Whatever I used to get up the mountain is what I'll use to get down.....

I usually ease the comedown with more beer.

Since it doesn't get much more 'Merica than the mountains of Colorado..I would grab a bald eagle and fly off to freedom

I spent 8 hours hiking in Yellowstone yesterday. I'm still pretty worn out, so I'll go with driving.

It's been awesome so far. Yesterday we did a lot of hiking. Saw two wolves, a grizzly cub (we never did see it's mama which was kinda scary), a bull elk, whitetail deer, and numerous buffalo.

Today is our day of rest before hitting it hard again in the morning. We cancelled the Glacier portion if our trip because we were afraid of missing things due to the fire. Planning on a full week in Glacier next spring.

Probably smart. Not sure your definition of next spring but going to the Sun Road is usually closed into May and sometimes June as it will still be covered with snow. Risky to schedule a spring trip up there, FYI.

We were thinking of right after Memorial Day, but I didn't know that there would still be a possibility of the roads being snow covered. Thanks for the information.

The walk down is glorious after the climb.

Unless you make the mistake of taking a 6 year old up a 3000 foot "hill". Then you have to carry them back down. :banghead:

I assume in CO the town is full of Broncos fans?

If so then whatever manner causes a massive avalanche that takes out the entire town.

As long as on the way down you run over numerous donk fans any way is good.
