Carl Peterson attends camp practice for first time since leaving Chiefs
http://espn.go.com/blog/kansas-city-...leaving-chiefs
Sunday's Kansas City Chiefs training camp practice brought a sight long overdue. Former president and general manager Carl Peterson was in attendance at camp for the first time since leaving the Chiefs after the 2008 season. Relations between the Chiefs and Peterson, awful during the years when Scott Pioli was their general manager, have warmed with the arrival of general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid. Peterson called the difference "night and day." He attended a game at Arrowhead Stadium last year for the first time since his resignation or ouster, the fact being it was some of both. "I didn't have occasion to come back," Peterson said Sunday. "Scott Pioli never invited me. John Dorsey did." The relationship between Peterson and Dorsey goes way back. Peterson, when he was general manager of the USFL's Philadelphia Stars, drafted Dorsey when he was coming out of college at Connecticut. Dorsey instead signed with the NFL's Green Bay Packers. So when the Chiefs sent Peterson an invitation to attend Sunday's Alumni Day practice session, he accepted. Peterson lives in New York but happened to be in Kansas City this weekend. "We were all glad to see him today," chairman Clark Hunt said. It's nice to see the Chiefs opening their doors to Peterson. He's the most important figure in the team's 55-year history other than franchise founder Lamar Hunt. While the Chiefs never won or even reached a Super Bowl in their 20 seasons with Peterson, he acquired many of the best players in their history. He drafted a couple of eventual Hall of Famers in Derrick Thomas and Will Shields. Peterson deserves to be next year's entrant into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. Until he's selected, the team's Hall will have a void. "I'll leave that for another discussion," Hunt said of Peterson's chances of reaching the team's Hall of Fame. "Carl had a tremendous career and a big impact on the Kansas City Chiefs." |
Thanks Obama.

DAMMIT, CARL!! :cuss:
|
Dammit Carl.
|
He heartily approved seeing an ex-49ers quarterback taking first-team snaps.
|
Unless he is going to go back in time and order Marty to start Gannon he go ahead and get the hell away from our team.

Ha ha, I still have my Dammit, Carl! shirt from Chiefsplanet. :thumb: |
Pioli was a tremendous piece of shit.
It's even worse when you think that he probably tried to cheat like the Pats and still failed horrifically. |
I know he made a lot of mistakes in his latter years with the team (Herm), but he was very good for KC for many seasons. Chiefs HOF? Maybe.

Scott Pioli has completely taken away any hate I had for Carl.

Peterson drafted Dorsey? Heh. I didn't know that.
I guess that's why they're friends? |
Should have drafted Dan Marino & not Todd Blackledge
Dammit Carl :cuss: |

Come on guys, we have to him some credit. Polio drafted Houston, Poe and Bailey. He built a third, one third of our defense. He is a big reason why our defense is where it is today. |

I'm just stating the positives:D |

1. It very important for a team to show respect to past employees and especially players.
2. I understand that Carl is an important figure in the history of the team but Hall of Fame? Seems like a reach. His longevity is in part a reflection on the loyalty of the Hunt family, not success. |
Damn you Carl Peterson!

If there is a curse, it is because of the ground that Arrowhead is built on. :hmmm: |

His lows were a complete inability to judge the QB position making every other positive moot. Highs were very high and lows were very low... |

Houston was a ****ing gift. It was ABSURD that he was still available to us with that pick in the 3rd round. The NFL is usually a lot smarter than that. Most teams would have snatched him up much earlier. It's a mystery of nature why he fell to us. God. **** Scott Pioli. Good pick or not, he picked a ****ing fat **** in Hudson before drafting Houston. And Houston would have been BRILLIANT value at that spot! |
Quote:
He would have been the perfect C under DV's offense when the C was constantly pulling... |
Quote:
When the pick was Hudson, most people said, "Oh. Well... sure, okay. We do need a C, and Hudson is pretty good." Houston played the more important position and you could say was possibly much more talented. The fact that we just bided our time until we picked in the 3rd said a lot about our REAL evaluation of the player, which was, "He smoked pot. Can't do that." |
Quote:
An all pro pass rusher is always worth more than an all pro C. I was an FSU homer so I was good with the Hudson pick because I knew he was legit. I'd argue landing Houston in the 3rd was even a bigger steal than Allen in the 6th. Houston is by far the most rounded pass rusher in the NFL. He's a top 5 pass rusher while having no true weakness in any other area as an OLB... |

The curse is lifted fellas

Hopefully he doesn't give Dorsey advice on how to get QB's......Oh wait, nevermind

Why do they insist on calling him "Chairman" Clark Hunt. Every time I read/hear that all I can think of is China and Chairman Mao....

Once I realized Carl was a much better business person than that Scott guy - I've found it harder to hate him. Carl - I will follow you.

Pioli was just some **** who took a shit on Arrowhead and tried to claim it didn't stink. |

"I always fancied some San Francisco trash myself"-was overheard at least one time in said visit.

I'll be honest - I always liked Carl's feathered hair. So lustrous and soft looking. Very stylish in a conventional way.
|
Four pages and no "print 'em" or "to the ship". You guys are getting soft.

Ironically, CP got exactly who they wanted. After that episode, it's unlikely there will be another GM lynch mob around here any time soon. |
Peterson brought on the decade when the Chiefs were the hottest thing going. He is lucky there ain't shit in this town to do other than sports.

Dear Greatest Fans in the NFL:
Hi, It's me, your former unquestionably supreme and fearless leader, former longest tenured General Manager in Professional Sports, The King, Carl "Delano" Peterson. You may call me either "King Carl" or "Mister Peterson" whichever you prefer. Yes, I made the journey up to Missouri Western in St. Joseph. Why? Because much like Bob Ford's loyalty to Jesse James, I am loyal to John Dorsey. I respect the job he is doing and would never assume to be considered a threat to John, should he happen to falter, and Clark would need to find a suitable qualified replacement. I just wanted to get re-familiarized with the current crop of talent in the Chiefs stable. Plus, I really like black leather Stetson Hats, which I can get in St. Joseph, and I enjoy a nice Cherry Mash, which I also buy in St. Joseph. Sometimes I take a soak in my jacuzzi wearing only my black leather Stetson hat, with a bottle of Dick Vermeil wine, and a cherry mash. Life in my New York Penthouse suite can be quite enjoyable. I wanted to congratulate Dorsey on finding another San Fran QB castoff to lead a KC offense. As you know, this was my personal specialty. I brought in four of them, and look how successful that was! I have no doubt that unless the Chiefs face Buffalo, or Denver, or Indianapolis, or Miami, the team will do just fine in their next playoff appearance. And if you fans want to put me up on the Chiefs Ring of Honor, or build a statue of me, or name the stadium after me, or do all three, I suppose I'd allow for that. Quite Frankly, if Jack Steadman can be in the Ring of Honor, anything is possible. I mean that sincerely. Just remember, a Chiefs fan is born every minute. You are, and continue to be, the best fans in the NFL. Your Pal, Carl "Delano" Peterson Formerly LTGMIPS |
