Poe To Start Season On Reserve/PUP?

I hope rotoworld is wrong. That will be a tough way to start...thats the most important player on the defense in my opinion. Other guys will need to step up. Personally I'd like to see Devito at NT while Poe is out.

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7422/dontari-poe

Dunerdr 08-04-2015 07:41 AM

I think Howard's a bit more of a brute nose guy.

Maybe....either way neither of them are Poe

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-04-2015 07:44 AM

We will be Ok. Poe having a shorter season will keep him stronger for the Superbowl.

Red Dawg 08-04-2015 07:48 AM

He won't play until October. We have known that since the start.

This is true. I just feel howards more aggressive and devitos a. Space eater coming off an Achilles.

Unfortunately this will allow teams to put a second body on Big Cat.

yep you are 100% correct...the combo of Poe & Cat is a very good inside pass rushing tandem with Houston and Hali on outside...Cat & Howard not as much....makes a difference. But without Poe in run game it makes a difference too....you can't replace Dontari Poe. Its a HUGE loss...literally.

Stryker 08-04-2015 08:23 AM

Adding insult to injury, they have to say "Arian Foster is going to run wild on the Chiefs in week 1" :doh!:

RealSNR 08-04-2015 08:23 AM

I hope he doesn't start the season on Q

How is cat right now anything more than a big body who plays great in our minds and hearts? I like the guy. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Same thing every year... CP nutt huggers latch on to some broke dick feel good story and it gives them HOPE...

Nothing to see here and this guy has a 95% chance of being completely irrelevant to anything the Chiefs do.

Well actually you couldn't be more wrong. :shake: ESPECIALLY with Poe missing, Cat will be a very important player who needs to step up as he will see a lot of playing time. Bailey, Devito, Howard and Big Cat will all need to play well in Poe's absence for this team to do well.

"Big Cat" could very well get flushed out of every audibled run play he's caught in by bigger offensive lineman. He's a complete boom or bust 1 dimensional player and we don't even know if he can do the 1 dimensional thing he's suppose to be good at a consistent level yet.

OF course, same song and dance I have witnessed here for the last 9 years. Always some training camp or hyped up great HOPE that intrigues the fans and is really going to show the NFL how its done..

Just because some tardcart named him "Big Cat" doesn't mean he is going to be the HOPE hero...

Dude has never produced at this level or even shown he can produce at this level consistently.... Yet he is going to be a "very important" player?

Seeing is believing and until that happens, this is no different than the last HOPE hero.

Bailey has already shown he can do it. Cat is nothing more than a late round prospect. Again, I like the guy. I don't have an opinion either way. But we're relying on a guy who's literally shown nothing on the field yet...

Just find the fattest dude possible, throw him in at NT. See how much space he can clog up. That is basically what a NT does. Poe was just really good at what he does.

That's dumb of them. He can easily beat that triple team. He can probably just jump right over them like they are boxes.

I think the team would've been better losing Alex Smith than Dontari Poe.

Might sound exaggerated but is it? I've always said Poe is the most important player on this D...maybe even on the whole team. HUGE loss!

As long as he stays healthy Catapano will get the opportunity prove all his cynics right or wrong...they are pushing him on their website, articles on espn, fox etc so its obvious he will get to show what he's got. I hope he makes the most of the opportunity. By his words and mannerisms you can tell he clearly believes in himself and his ability. If you don't think you can be great then you won't be. With Poe gone the defensive line needs a boost. If Cat does well in passing downs and gets after the QB (and in particularly if he does well when he's run on) it would help cushion a very big blow.

theres no replacing the best nose tackle in the league who weighs 345 lbs :shake:

its very simple.

but what you have now in the meantime is an athletic defensive line with some experience and some talent. So it will be interesting to see how it plays out. But to say Catapano isn't good against the run makes no sense.

Catapano isn't a NT.

We are ****ed.

The D is going to give up 150 rushing yards a game while Poe is out, and the pass rush will suffer significantly.

Meanwhile some turd named Sage is beasting Eric Fisher in camp.

You guys are aware that Jaye Howard is up to 330 lbs and has supposedly been one of the most impressive players in camp so far right? There was a clip of him completely blowing up a play in the backfield from yesterday's practice.

No i didn't realize Howard was that heavy. 330 if he is looking good sounds great to me! Poe is a bear...not just 345 but a FREAKY athletic 345. Howard is a good athlete in his own right however. When drafted all of the 5 main D Lineman (including Poe & Howard) ran sub 5 second 40 times. I hope Howard can fill in well at NT...a combo of him on runs and Cat on pass would be ideal...need a group effort to try and make up for Poe

Poe being out doesn't hurt as bad considering DJ is apparently back to full strength. Should be very helpful against Lacy, Mccoy, AP, and Ball.

No, but having DeVito back and healthy is a huge boon to the run defense. He's the best run defender we have by a long shot. Poe put in work in that regard last year, but he's still a work in progress in defending the run. He comes upfield too hard and agressive most of the time (which is a good thing - if you've got a guy who is capable of holding the gap to his side, which didn't happen last year due to the injury to DeVito) and leaves lanes open far too often. DeVito does not do that. He plugs lanes like Sweet Daddy plugs toilets. With a vengence.

Bailey is going to have to come up big to start the season in terms of his penetration, which is going to be reliant on how effective Howard is in holding the A gap.

Can't paste it, but Arrowheadpride.com had a quote from Reid that Poe hurt his back in mini-camp and got a couple of epidurals. Then reinjured it working out on his own July 8. Surgery was on July 15.

They did not drag their feet.
