 - F Detroit

duncan_idaho 08-04-2015 01:27 PM

Verlander has been very good over his last two starts... 15 IP and just 2 ER. Apparently, he has started paying attention to scouting reports now and incorporating them into things rather than just going out and being himself.

Will be interesting to watch him tonight.

@McCulloughStar: Thug Cry Lineup: Escobar 6, Zobrist 7, Cain 8, Hosmer 3, Morales DH, Moustakas 5, Perez 2, Rios 9, Infante 4, Duffy 1. #royals

Hope Cain can keep his temper in check, we need some W's.

Yost is getting closer to the right lineup.

Yes it will. I'll be there in the cheap seats. Good luck & go Tigers. I'm still convinced that the Tigers at some point will start playing well.

Tigers have released GM Dave Dombrowski from his contract. Oh noes. This is not good.:doh!:

Panic move the Tigers will eventually regret, IMO.

Dombrowski is really good.

Great Expectations 08-04-2015 02:28 PM

Yost needs to tear into them after the display in Toronto. We are back to only 20 games over 500 with a paltry 8.5 game lead in the division. Our lead for home field advantage is also now only 3.5 games.

Ned needs to do moar yelling.

I bought tickets several months ago to the home game against Detroit next Monday. I was expecting it to be a tight divisional race against them. At least it is now projected to be Cueto's first home start.

I'm 5-6 hours away round trip so I try to plan those mid week trips carefully as it will make for a long Tuesday.

penbrook 08-04-2015 02:34 PM

Wow Ned actually leaving Zobrist in the 2 hole. I like this Ned

Except for building a bullpen. It's puzzling how he can be so good at everything else and so bad at that.

It is weird. Hire a guy for that. yeesh.

He'll be GM again. For more money and out of Detroit. Win/win.

MLB Network is speculating that Dombrowski is the one who wanted out.

Zobrist takes Moose's spot at the 2. Moose slides to 6.

Interdasting.

How much stock do you put into the scouting report thing? To me, that's the catcher's job. I don't want my pitcher thinking about scouting reports when he's on the mound. I want him focused on executing whatever pitch the catcher calls.

Besides, it's a lot more efficient to make sure 2 catchers know the scouting reports than 12 pitchers.

I place some in it.

Some guys have such overpowering stuff that they can just do what they do and make the hitters adjust to them (Jose Fernandez is a great example of this, so is Syndergaard).

Once you lose some edge on that stuff, and your fastball isn't a plus-plus pitch any more, now you need to know where to locate it against guys to get same results.

Well their GM was on the last year of his deal anyway. Maybe he wants to take a vacation and miss the next 2 months of losing baseball and answering doomed questions.

Verlander was 19 - 7 vs the Royals :grr:

If its Donaldson's bat it will be a tampon in it instead of a cork.

Without a doubt. You don't just hit 50% more homeruns than the year before by "working hard."

I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few on that team were juicing. In theory, Tulo's power numbers should drop now that he is out of Colorado, so if they increase, hmm.
