I've always found steak and eggs to be a horrible combination. And I like both separately.

Dude, I could totally go for a good CFS, but eggs is too much there. That's like topping NY Cheesecake with a brownie and fudge sauce.

You want egg perfection, skillet scramble red potatoes with diced onion and green pepper, criss cross with bacon strips, top with a fried egg and ladle on sawmill gravy.

Super indulgent, but not coma inducing./

Hog's Gone Fishin 10-13-2015 09:57 AM

You need a little pink slime in that steak.

I do a 3/4" steak 2225, sear 2 min each side in cast iron, pop it in the oven at 450 for another 2 and a rest for 5.

Only had it once, the morning before the State Track Meet in high school. My fellow track teammates were not pleased since I was anchoring our relay and were all eating light, etc. which just isn't me, especially when the school is paying. They were singing a different tune when I smoked the "fastest" guy in the state to bring home the gold. This was of course just North Dakota so there were no Carl Lewis's out there but an 800m in 1:57 isn't bad.

By the way, if you decide to be in track, be in long distance. By far the hottest chicks.

I do a 2" ribeye slow and low using a two zone technique on the weber. Try to stay between 250-300. Takes between 45 minutes and an hour to get up to temp. Once it reaches around 110-115 internal I add fresh red hot coals, lower the grill to about an inch above the coals, brush on some rendered fat, then sear each side for roughly 4 minutes until it looks just right. Better than any steakhouse. Well, better than any steakhouse that costs less than $50 a steak.

You need to add an over easy egg to bring it all together.

Simply Red 10-13-2015 07:59 PM

Looks like you bailed yourself out - however my only gripe is - you either turned over your meat too soon or didn't have a hot enough fire. Aside from that - nicely done. Incorporating olive oil (safely) - will help your results and all around grill-surface-management.

Simply Red 10-13-2015 08:18 PM
