Why would Chip Kelley bail? I don't think he is on the hot seat is he? They are one game out of the leader in their division. The division sucks but still.

Chip Kelly is HC and GM, he ain't going anywhere till he's fired.

Some guys are meant to coach college.

BigRichard 10-13-2015 02:39 PM

I was really hoping Kelly stuck around long enough for Nebraska to get him when they fire Riley.

I would probably start watching the Huskers again if they were able to get him.

Because he is a snake. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he did this and if he did, it's a dick move.

He could be hated in Philadelphia and in Oregon as well if he goes back to coach a conference opponent. Good idea.

Chip Kelly weaseled his way into power and threw everyone under the bus along the way. He threatened to leave while under contract, and the Eagles gave him tons of personnel power and basically demoted anyone with personnel power.

He is not your average coach. He's a snake.

There are ways to get to the top without throwing everyone under the bus on the way there, and arrogantly usurping power you don't need. This was not business move. Napoleon was successful snaking his way into power too. It doesn't make it a good idea or admirable.

I thought his wife hated the west coast or some shit. Still...it'd be pretty funny if Ohio State got Urban Meyer, Michigan got Jim Harbaugh, Notre Dame got Brian Kelly, USC got Chip Kelly, and Texas had to settle for Charlie Strong.

Dude jumps ship to the NFL just as his program is getting hit with NCAA violations. Makes millions as an NFL HC while running a franchise into the ground. Will get rewarded with a huge new contract at a big time college program. What a country!

Easier schedule. Having all the leverage over players. You can use the same offensive or defensive scheme for many years without much change. Some colleges have loads of money. Job security is higher.

okcchief 10-13-2015 10:04 PM

Closing doors for fellow college coaches on his way out. Not that the NFL should want any of them anyway. Doesn't translate. You gotta earn your chops IN the NFL.

Chip Kelly hopes to coach in NFL long enough to end college speculation

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

October 15, 2015 1:04 pm ET

After winning 10 games in each of his first two seasons, coach Chip Kelly and the Eagles have stumbled to a 2-3 start. The offense has been particularly inept, and given that Kelly took over personnel duties in January, he's the target for any and all criticism related to the team's struggles.

Naturally, the Eagles' record, Kelly's success at Oregon before coming to the NFL, and the current opening at USC, have led to speculation that he may be returning to the college game sooner rather than later. On Thursday, Kelly addressed the matter.

"I understand that," Kelly said of the rumors, via ESPN.com. "It's going to happen. ... We're not successful. We're not winning. I came from college. I'm going to go back to college."

But Kelly, who said he hasn't heard from USC, has no plans to leave.

"I hope someday to be like Coach [Tom] Coughlin and win enough games where I stay around long enough where that speculation ends," Kelly said. "But I understand you have to ask the question. I answered it the same way a year ago. I answered it the same way my first year here."

Kelly added that his agent hasn't sought out attention from colleges.

"It's an unfortunate part of the game," he continued. "The other part of it is there are people who have lost their jobs. A friend of mine is Steve Sarkisian, who is dealing with a big issue right now. I wish him the best. That's how I look at that situation."

As for the much-dreaded distractions, Kelly says there aren't any.

"My players could care less about that," he said. "Ask them, I guess. I don't think [center] Jason Kelce is really concerned because my name came up with a college. He's concerned with going against Steve Spagnuolo's defense, which is what's first and foremost on our team right now."
