Chiefs 1 game back of 6th seed

With one game left against an opponent with a winning record
Also on a 2 game winning streak.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

Who thinks we can make the POs?

DaFace 11-01-2015 03:37 PM

Depends on how they play the rest of the season.

Bet they get to 9 and 5, only to lose the last 2 in some unfathomable way and miss the playoffs

If they can beat Denver and San Diego then I'll start to believe. Until then, because Chiefs.

The Because Chiefs move would be to beat Denver, San Diego and then Buffalo... only to get smoked by Oakland.

Excellent!

After all the Chiefs have been through...

Who knows what can happen if we can get into the playoffs? Yes, we will probably lose. However, all but one team eventually loses.

tk13 11-01-2015 03:48 PM

That's pretty good odds for a team that was once 1-5. If you'd claimed we'd have a 30% shot at the playoffs at any point on, you'd be laughed off the Internet.

But outside of New England, Cincy, and Denver... the rest of the conference is a dumpster fire. And Denver's offense has been awful.

I have no illusions about the Chiefs playing at a championship level though. I will say this, the way things are going the 5 seed is going to be in a good spot. Houston won today, and the Colts are hurting bad and have to play Carolina tomorrow. Indy loses and the Texans are tied for the division lead. If the Colts can't get healthy that 4 seed could be pretty rough.

O.city 11-01-2015 03:49 PM

I think it's new England and cincy, then the rest.

Denver's d is great but that offense isn't good enough as of right now

Yeah that's pretty much right. I don't trust the Dolphins either. The whole thing is a giant pile of crap.

If Andrew Luck's ribs are broken... that AFC South 4 seed could be a winnable game for whoever gets the 5 seed though. That's as far as my optimism will go at this point. Houston and Jacksonville are right behind them.

Denver will squeak one out to burn down our chances and San Diego will piss on the ashes.

tk13 11-01-2015 03:58 PM

I'm not saying we'll beat San Diego, but they are 2-6 and we've played them well under Reid.

I don't know why that's chalked up as a guaranteed loss. Oakland is playing better than San Diego.

I just think this thread shows how bad the NFL as a whole is this year. Other than the Packers, Patriots, and Bengals, I wouldn't say there is really another really good team in the league. Even the Panthers and Broncos at 6-0 aren't great teams. They'd be 4-2 or 3-3 any other season.

I still don't think we make the playoffs. We'll win 8 or maybe even 9 games and we'll look at our shitty start and wonder "what if?".

FringeNC 11-01-2015 04:02 PM

Assume Jets get WC1. If we beat Denver (obviously a big IF), closing out the season 5-2 is not altogether crazy to think about, and then we're almost certainly in at 9-7. Pitt has too hard of a schedule to go 10-6.

At this rate, 9-7 might not just get you in, it might get you a 5 seed against a winnable AFC South opponent.

The loss to the Bears was a killer. The Chiefs have yet to beat a team that they were supposed to lose to. That will need to happen a couple of times the 2nd half of the season, along with beating teams they should, in order to close the gap on the last spot. Gonna have to go 6-2 at worst to have any legit shot.

Damn that loss to the Bears...:shake:

But the Chiefs beat the Steelers, which could be a tie-breaker down the road.

They play AFC teams for the rest of the entire schedule so if they can win 6, they'll be in good shape to get the 6th seed.

The chances are growing every week.. I'm still going to remain doubtful until we're .500.

Good thing We're competing with the Raiders, Steelers, and Jets, Bills, and Texans for tose last two spots, and if we're going to end up with a good enough record to make the playoffs then we will likely hold a tie breaker over all of those teams minus the jets.

I'm really worried about the Raiders though. That offense is going to give us fits.

Not buying it. Today was a great matchup for the Chiefs. Lion's LB's and Safeties are awful...Chiefs ran a completely horizontal offense like they always do but it worked this week because the lions are so bad.

That shit won't work against Oakland.

Oakland is a bad matchup for KC.

I fully disagree. Oakland may be the most overrated team in the league.

Beating the 2-5 Ravens, 2-5 Browns and 2-5 Chargers isn't impressive. They're currently beating the 4-2 Jets but that's because they lost Ryan Fitzgerald and had to replace him with Geno Smith.

Mike Florio is already reporting that the Jets are making calls around the league for a QB and that Ryan Mallet is a possible target.

Their season is all but over.

Thats the main reason why i'm worried about them. They aren't world beaters by any stretch of the imagination. But they are a bad matchup for us. Mainly because of their offense. They have the O line to almost completely nullify our pass rush, and we all know how our secondary looks when the pass rush isn't on point. They also have good running back to keep us honest. We can't play nickle and dime all game.

Not so sure about their defense though aside from two stud pass rushers.

notorious 11-01-2015 05:45 PM

Not worried at all about the Raiders.

Until their defense can play straight-up without blitzing they will be but a fart in the Grand Canyon.

The Chiefs 3 wins are against a bad Houston team, a Steeler team playing with their 3rd string QB, and quite possibly the worst team in the league.

All I'm saying is that IF the Chiefs continue to play like they did today and last week, they have a shot.

Their schedule is far from daunting and the rest of the AFC field, outside of Cincy and Denver, is average to below average.

I am not optimistic, but I will say that if this line can continue to improve and start to get some continuity, then there is a chance.

Yea I like Wilson, but he should be our slot guy. I would prefer to have Conley's size out there and he's a better fit accros from Maclin (especially with Alex at QB).

TigeRRUppeRRcut 11-01-2015 08:47 PM

Looking at the standings more carefully it comes down to us, Bills, Steelers, and Raiders fighting for 2 spots. We have the tiebreaker on Pitt and need to win both games against the Raiders. Pitt's without Leveon for 2-3 weeks with a game against the Raiders and Seahawks coming up; we own the tie on them. Bills return Tyrod Taylor soon and will play against us, I pin them the favorites to take 1 of the 2 wild card positions and should go on to beat the Jets twice.

So...It's still possible.
