Let's get it on. Doubleheader on both CBS and FOX today. One playoff spot and several seeding positions on the line today:

Early games:

NYJ at BUF (Jets lose, eliminated)
PIT at CLE (PIT wins, clinches #6 seed)
NE at MIA (NE loses, will drop to #2 seed if DEN wins)
BAL at CIN (wins, needs DEN loss for AFC #2 seed & bye)
JAX at HOU (wins AFC South)
TEN at IND (eliminated)
NO at ATL
WSH at DAL
PHI at NYG
DET at CHI


Late games:

SD at DEN (wins AFC West and #1 seed)
TB at CAR (NFC #1 with win)
SEA at ARI
STL at SF


Final AFC seedings:
1) Denver
2) New England

3) Cincinnati
4) Houston
5) Kansas City
6) Pittsburgh

I hope this isn't last season's week 17 when everyone we needed to lose was losing in the 4th quarter but then they all won...

Only way the Chiefs host a game is if we win today against the Raiders and Denver loses to the Chargers at home. We would win the AFC West in that scenario and would host either the Jets (if they win or if they lose and the Steelers lose) or the Steelers (if they win and the Jets lose).

Jerry Hughes is playing like a madman for the Bills. He's blown up 3 of the Jets first 4 offensive plays on his own.

As long as the Chiefs remain the 5 seed there is a possibility that they could host the AFC Championship. Of course, that is highly unlikely as both the Chiefs and the Jets would have to win every game up until then to get there.

I assume everyone is riding the Jets so the Steelers don't make it in?

Fortunately, we are a better road team than home team for some strange reason. On the road in the past 6 games we have only surrendered 8.8 ppg in the first half and 6.4 ppg in the second half. If you remove the 13 garbage-time points we gave up at Denver against our back-ups the Chiefs have surrendered only 19 second half points on the road since mid-October.

If the Chiefs end up the #5 seed, they would host the AFC Championship game if the #6 seed was their opponent.

If the Jets lose then we're locked in at the 5th unless we win today and Denver loses today - then we'd be 3 and host either the Jets or Steelers.

If the Jets win today and we lose then we'd be the 6th seed and go to Cincinnati (if Cincy wins and Denver loses) or Denver (if Denver wins or Cincy loses).

It's the last week of football for many teams but I just can't get into these games.

I'm about to do some other shit until the Chiefs play.

I could see the Steelers (if it's them) beating Cincy/Denver and, if we win, we go to Cincy/Denver the next week and winning. Steelers go to the Pats and take care of business and we host the Steelers.

That's what I've been calling for.

You'd have a better shot at winning the lottery twice in a row than this happening, but apparently it is mathematically possible if the 11 million things happen to allow the Colts/Texans to tie... they could go through the next two tiebreakers and end up coming down to point differential. The Colts are down -83 though, so they'd need to run up the score. The odds of coming down to that have to be 1 in a million though. But it's rare that it's even mathematically possible.
