Do we have any Jacksonville area CP members?

Can you send me an IM....I have a couple of questions.

TLO 05-30-2016 10:16 AM

Isn't Senuseta or Setsuna or whatever from Jacksonville?

MahiMike 05-30-2016 10:25 AM

Sent pm.

Stay away from the beach today...too crowded...

Bowser 05-30-2016 10:26 AM

I'm not from Jacksonville, but I DID stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

BlackHelicopters 05-30-2016 10:51 AM

I know several people with the last name Jackson if that will help.

ChiefGator 05-30-2016 01:31 PM

Sent you a PM as well. You could, alternatively, just post your question here, now that you have a whole thread about it. Several others live around the area.

Mosbonian 05-30-2016 01:39 PM

I saw both IM'S and replied to you both....your inputs are greatly appreciated.

Over Yonder 05-30-2016 01:41 PM

My dad was in the Navy, so I lived in Jacksonville Fl. somewhere around 1980. Also, I drove through Jacksonville Mo. maybe 3 weeks ago or so.

(Yea, Im a smartass:D)

Once I get to my desktop I will rep you for being first in with the requisite comedy reply.

Rain Man 05-30-2016 02:01 PM

Aren't they changing the name of the city to Tubmanville or something?

TLO 05-30-2016 02:10 PM

I feel out of the loop. :(

You just think it's crowded. Go to a beach in China

(Where's Waldo?)

FlaChief58 05-30-2016 03:13 PM

The best thing they have there is the jags. That should tell you everything you need to know

Why Not? 05-30-2016 03:15 PM

Nope. But I was there 2 weeks ago. Had fun. Ocean was great. Best Bet was fun. TPC was amazing. Drivers were terrible. That's all I got.

Spott 05-30-2016 03:19 PM

Depends on who's asking.

I've never set foot in Jacksonville, but I once rode a train through town. Based on my experience, the town makes a clacking sound and gently rocks back and forth.

This is the ****ing post of the year right here!

Setsuna 06-02-2016 01:31 AM

I am in Jacksonville right now yes. Dr. Pepper I'm flattered :)

Mosbonian 06-03-2016 09:20 AM

Well...looks like I will be moving my family to Jacksonville shortly as my job offer came thru.

I now get to laugh at my northern friends while I am still playing golf in January and February.

I know I will get to watch at least one Chiefs game on regular TV this year since the Jags and Chiefs play each other in 2016.

You need to go to a game. That stadium is pretty sweet. Sit in the north endzone and you can check out all the hotties in the pool. Or get cheap tix and go straight to the Bud Zone. That's behind where I sit in the south endzone...

We'll have to try and catch a game together sometime....

Or maybe just meet at a sportsbar to watch a game...

ChiefGator 06-03-2016 11:44 AM

Went to see the minor league team, Jacksonville Suns. That was a nice ballpark and fun.

They are the minor league team for the Miami Marlins.

We should try to get a Chiefs club going here, at least to get together and watch the games.

Where do you usually go MahiMike?

Spott 06-03-2016 01:26 PM

If you have kids, don't move to Duval county unless you want to put them in private school. You are going to want to live on the same side of the St John's River that your work is located, too. Traffic is a nightmare if you have to cross one of the bridges.

That's not totally true. There are some excellent magnet schools in Jacksonville. Stanton College Prep is ranked #31 nationally, and is usually in the top 5-10 of public high schools in the country. Paxon, Darnel Cookman, and Douglas Anderson are also considered very good.

I am all for that.....there are probably others in the area who are Chiefs fans who aren't on here especially, but would probably come if we started a fan club.

Luckily for me my kids are all past the HS age.....my daughter will be a junior in college and my son is 23.

For the first time in all my relocations for jobs this is the first time I don't have to worry about being in a good school district.

As for where I will be working.....it is on the south side of town right off I 95. No bridge to have to drive over...

A little trivia......the Jacksonville Suns were a minor league affiliate for the KC Royals from 1972-1983. U.L. Washington, Frank White and Amos Otis all played for the Suns at one point in time.

Sounds like off of JTB and 95. A lot of office buildings over there. Lots of cool areas around town and plenty of ethnic food choices, if you are into that. If you are coming from KC, then I would suggest stocking up on Gates, Arthur Bryant's or other local fare because the BBQ down here is mediocre at best.

Alright, I got ask this then. But rather than being direct, I'll write it as one of those romantic classified ads you occasionally see... why? Because I am bored at work..

Okay, I'm starting it now.

Not right there, but below the line that is .. below.

---------

You.. You regularly come to Buffalo Wild Wings at the Avenues Mall with your girlfriend and sit at the high top tables.

Me.. I am sitting at the high top table watching Chiefs games as well, with my laptop, glued to my fantasy football numbers. I sometimes point out which TV's have the Chiefs game on for you when you walk in.

Us.. Uh.. well, the story kinda fizzled there.

-------------

Which one of you bastages comes to the BWW at the Avenues for Chiefs games. If none of you, I should get him a ChiefsPlanet hat and give it to him next time.

I've never been to that BWW to watch a game. There used to be a group that watched Chiefs games at the old Sneakers on Atlantic and St John's Bluff. When they closed down and moved to Baymeadows, some of the group went to Mudville grill on Monument but I don't think they go there anymore. Once I got the Sunday ticket I kind of stopped going out to watch Chiefs games.

I was in a group of 6 Chief fans around that area when I used to frequent Chiefs Crowd. We were there when Alex made his debut against JAX. If anyone gets a group going I'm down for sure

ChiefGator 06-03-2016 06:06 PM

Alright.. I'll post something as we get closer if noone else organizes.

I misunderstood the schedule when it first came out and was ecstatic I would get to see the Chiefs play in Jax (again).. only to find out it was an away game.

Ah so you were there opening day 2013? Awesome day but the heat was ****ing brutal. Did you go to the game back in 09 I think? Cassel just started chucking shit up to Chambers and Bowe and almost pulled a comeback? Lmao

I went to that game and left when it was 24-6 with about 3 minutes left. It was 24-21 by the time I got halfway to my car. I didn't go to the home opener 3 years ago here. The games here are too damn hot in September and October.

I went to the game earlier.. 09 sounds right. Not the one three years ago.

Best opener I have been to was the opener in Tampa Bay in 1993. I was so pumped to see Montana's first game as a Chief, and it was a thing of beauty. I think that was probably my first Chiefs game too.

I see you live in the Orange Park area......we are looking at that area ourselves. What can you tell me about it?

Mosbonian 09-29-2016 05:51 PM

Well....tomorrow is the move in day for my family and we are going to be Florida residents. I am hoping that i have better luck with Comcast than i have thus far in trying to get them to set up my internet.
