What's your go-to frozen burrito...?
Who makes the best frozen burrito?
Do you spruce it up with your own sauces and cheese or do you take it as is straight out of the microwave? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Those ones with shredded steak and grated cheese at Sam's Club.
|
I eat real food, sorry.

Once I figured out how cheap tortillas and rice and beans were, I pretty much make my own. Got a little grate I put over my rice cooker [w/cilantro and lime] where I put my tortillas. Heat up some fajita steak or refried beans. Sour cream, guac, onion, black olive and take a pick of salsas. Boom all done and ready to order in as short a time as nuking something from the freezer. |

I do not do frozen burritos, even in desperation at the gas station
3-4 ply tortilla wrapping, and just enough real filling to somewhat remind you of real food... its right up there with "Landshire" gas station sammiches |
The only answer here is The Bomb with the mystery meat chunks.
|
I'm not a big frozen burrito fan - I do however enjoy those Patio Dinners. I don't get them anymore - but used to

You are missing the point of this thread... FTR...I guarantee I can nuke a frozen burrito and eat it before you can make one from scratch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I haven't eaten a pre-packaged frozen microwave product in years.
I used to eat a shit ton of frozen dinners, burritos and those frozen chinese cartons in college though. God, some of that seemed pretty good at the time. Now that I don't eat them, my blood pressure thanks me. |

Good |
El Monterey bean and cheese. Wont touch any of the ones with the mystery meat. All I put on it is sour cream and taco bell hot sauce.

As far as upgrades, Herdez 5 Chiles is my house salsa, but I think we already have a thread on that.

Dollar General sells frozen Taquitos that are pretty good. Beef and chicken, beef being my favorite.
My 18 year old son can eat a whole box of those for lunch. |
Curious about these Trader Joes Burritos being discussed...

None. I live in New Mexico. Are you kidding me with this shit?

I can make a fresh delicious black bean, long grain Spanish rice and cheese burrito in less than 20 minutes or an awesome (and fresh) breakfast burrito with egg whites, turkey sausage, green, red and orange peppers, onions, cheese and Cholula in less than five minutes.
No way I'd eat a frozen burrito. |

Wow. You are sooooo healthy and cool. Thanks for explaining how one makes a burrito. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I don't think I have had a frozen Burrito in 20 years. I remember it was the go to food (the term food used loosely) after returning home from the bar at 2:30am back in the day. At this point it would have to be a survival situation to get me to eat a skanky frozen burrito.

No dude to each their own. I put away my fair share of them back in the day, but not my thing at this point. I love Mexican food BTW as long as it isn't frozen at some point in its life. |
I don't like rice or beans. Taco please!

Don't and haven't done frozen since I was a kid. Once or twice a year though I'll buy a few Resers Red hot beef burritos. Those, fried in oil are ****ing awesome. Yeah, I can do better at home. The nostalgia tastes good to me though every once in a while.

What a magical place we have here at CP. It's great to rub elbows with so many people who only date super models and only eat made-from-scratch, organic, gourmet foods that they can whip up in a flash. You guys are amazing.

Shit! I thought this had something to do with some kind of sex toy or something. (ok, I admit not being really up to speed with sex toys and all.....) Never mind. Carry on. |
I always end up scalding the roof of my mouth when I eat a frozen microwave burrito.

I was just discussing a memory with my wife last night. In HS, my parents kept the freezer stocked with Sancho frozen burritos. I lived off those things for years.
|
Pretty sure why 50% of the frozen burrito snobs think they are shit is because they nuke it in the microwave. Bake it and drink a beer until ready.

Now come on nobody ever had these at a convenience store?
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hT5a9DSXCm...itos-group.jpg Don Miguel I just referred to it as the bomb. I have bought Don Miguel elsewhere but seem El Monterey has now cornered the frozen burrito market. |
Other brands I have seen but not tried Jose Ole and Tina's. Anyone had experience with these?

just made this in honor of this thread, yes, I am fat and happy!
|
Don't do frozen burritos. Fresh ones are pretty easy, even with leftover ingredients.
Last weekend, I took some leftover smoked brisket, some leftover red potatoes, scrambled some eggs, some shredded cheese, a drizzle of Gates, and had a kick-ass breakfast burrito. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend one. |
I've never had a burrito.

Cilantro? That stuff's gross. Do you like chili? Cumin in most every kind of chili. |
Quote:
Same thing with chili. I like it, but I have to make it myself and avoid getting chili powder with cumin in it. Same goes with tacos. |
Quote:
Do you not like it, or does it literally make you vomit? Ever been tested for an allergy? That's too bad. I love cumin (a little goes a long way). Either way, you definitely need to make yourself some cumin-free taco meat and rectify this burrito issue. |
Quote:
Never been tested. I've got a taco mix that doesn't contain cumin. Honestly, I don't even know the difference between a taco and a burrito. The wife and daughter love Chipotle and always get their burritos. Maybe I'll check it out. |
A time machine because I haven't eaten one of those microwaved turds since 2003.
