Western Sizzler & a rodeo!

threebag 08-17-2016 12:07 AM

You could check out Club Rodeo if you are looking for a cum dumpster.

threebag 08-17-2016 12:09 AM

If it's an older crowd your looking for The Port at Webb and Harry is a nice little dive. Well, last time i was there it was anyways. Decent food and drinks.

B & C on Washington is easily the best in town. It's only open during lunch and it's a buffet for I think $13

And it's actually a block away from the Marriott in old town if that's the one you're at

Coochie liquor 08-17-2016 03:39 AM

So sorry to hear this horrible news. May your time there go quickly.

Abba-Dabba 08-17-2016 04:48 AM

Ha, I will be about a mile away from you for 2 of those days.

Not much to do beyond a drink or food. Wichita isn't exactly a tourist destination with things to do.

Northeast side food. El Agave is good. Can't go wrong with Tacos Al Pastor or Carnitas. Fajitas to go is always more food than one can eat. Plenty of chain restaurants to choose from.

Oh goody, WalMart will be right down the road from you. That is always fun.

You won't be far from Charles Koch's house. You could go shit on his lawn. Send my regards if you can.

Other than that, good luck.

Nickhead 08-17-2016 05:30 AM

Pig in Pig out BBQ is the best IMO. Plenty of places to drink. I wouldn't recommend the Port as mentioned earlier. The Anchor has good food and a nice beer selection.

Kansas Star Casino about 20 mins south off I35 near Mulvane if you're a gambler.

cron912 08-17-2016 01:17 PM

Depends what you're into.

Old Town has quite a few bars and restaurants that are all within walking distance of each other.

If you want to catch a movie, Wichita has some of the best theaters in the country (Warren Theatres). They serve food/adult beverages to your seat at the one in Old Town. I believe the East Warren has a balcony that has recliners/couches where you can also be served, but it's fairly pricey.

If you like nature, the zoo is one of the best in the country. There's also another zoo/wildlife preserve called Tanganyika Wildlife Park that's pretty cool. Both are on the west side of Wichita though.

If you're into arts/musicals, Mamma Mia! is at Century II Fri/Sat/Sun.

Someone already mentioned Kansas Star Casino.

Exploration Place is a science museum in downtown, although it's primarily aimed at families/kids. It's basically some science exhibits, and they also have a small dome theater where they show science/nature related movies (mostly documentries). They usually have a 'traveling' exhibit there, which I believe is currently some dinosaur exhibit. There are a few other small museums in Wichita (Old Cowntown Museum, Museum of World Treasures, Botanica Gardens).

As for BBQ, there's B & C, Hog Wild, Bite Me BBQ, Pig In Pig Out, and there's a Two Brother BBQ not far from the East Mariott (it's somewhat of a dive though).

Other good places to eat; The Anchor (as mentioned), Bricktown Brewery, Old Town Brewery, Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria, Dempsey's Pub, Fizz Burgers, Tanya’s Soup Kitchen, Bonefish Grill, Public, Pumphouse, Red Rock Canyon Grill, Sabor Latin Bar & Grill. If price isn't a concern, Greystone Steak and Seafood, Scotch & Sirloin, AVI, Newport Grill.

Misc. things: The Loony Bin Comedy Club, Mosley Street Melodrama, a few escape rooms.

Also, if you are staying at the East Mariott, be warned there is a lot of construction going on in that area.

Edit: If you're staying at the Marriott Courtyard at like 2900 N. Webb, there shouldn't be any major construction there.

Also North Rock Lanes is a really nice bowling alley with an AJ Bar and Grill that sells some of the best pizza in town.

This guy pretty much summed it up right there.

If looking for drinks Old Town can get pretty busy and you can carry drinks from Bar to Bar which is nice.

Club rodeo is good on Saturday when they have bull riding.

I double the nomination for Pig N Pig Out for best barbecue in town. Hog wild is not bad but more of a chain BBQ place.

Like he mentioned Warren has some of the best theatres in the Country. I personally like the one in Old Town where they serve you food and drinks.

Loony Bin is also a lot of fun and always seems to attract good comedians there.

Gambling at Kansas Star is nice and can be pretty fun watching the UFC fights.

Also North Rock Lanes is a nice bowling alley with an AJ Bar and Grill. (In my opinion they sell some of the best pizza in town there)

Do either Jets or Bucks BBQ still exists in Wichita, and are they still any good?

Bucks, no. I think Jets still exists, but I've never eaten there.

Bite me BBQ is easily the best place IMO for bbq and for non bbq you have to go to Doo-Dah Diner.

As for things to do, well not much lol. There is exploration space, our Zoo is pretty cool, and then they have the Cowtown museum.

George Liquor 08-17-2016 03:30 PM

Breakfast burritos from Tacos Lopez

I got propositioned at Jezebells one time, you can go try to find that gal if you are lookin' for a good time.

Kansas Star has a good poker room.

I like(d) the Pump House in Old Towne

Wanted to hit up Hopping Gnome brewery last time I was down there, but ran out of time.

I'll echo the Doo-Dah Diner. Their hours are strange but if you can make it work you won't be disappointed. The Wichita Brewing Company is good IMO. Oven fire pizzas and micro brewery with nice atmosphere for sports viewing ( at least the east side one does)

Twin peaks is a chain but I think their food is pretty good and they have "scenic views" with lots of TVs.

You just missed the NBC tourney. You could have had your fill of baseball last week.
