me too - good overall review - my only gripes are he'd indicated the hush-puppies are battered - and described them as doughy - I'd rather him have said 'cakey.'

Food reviewers are sofa king weird....

haha - I could definitely do this and make it fun. I like review brah because he always gets really dressed up - it's a great gimmick for youtube. He's actually pretty fair though - doesn't sensationalize. Sort of bland in his comments - but somehow interesting. ha ha ha!

wow pretty neat of him to take the time to make this video on his way back from the investment banking office! who knew that succesful people ate at ljs!!

He recommended ketchup on hush puppies, man. He's got the awkward goofball innocence thing working for him. But I can't take any food advice from somebody who recommends ketchup on hush puppies. I just can't. The line must be drawn somewhere.

He was dead on w/ the tartar on the fish but not the chicken - I mean as far as what it (tartar) WAS designed for - although I'm not above using LJS tartar for chicken. I did say 'hmm' when he recommended the ketchup for the hushpuppies. It made sense I guess, but it's not something I'd do, at least with any consistency - I'd probably do the tartar on the puppies, myself. ROFL

I like how it's done - but it's not flat tasting. I let him have it in the comments. I really enjoyed 1893 but it's very expensive - it's almost $2 per can! :rolleyes: very small can.

What do you dip your hushpuppies in? I haven't had one since I was about 6 so never even pondered the best sauce.

I couldn't watch more than a minute or so. Flat, annoying voice. Bad delivery.

That's part of his beauty as a reviewer - he doesn't put on an act - I find him being himself, entertaining in & of itself.

I ate at a place called Bojangles today. It was shit.

Their actual chicken isn't bad - all side-items are weird - Pimentos in Green Beans? Never had seen that - prior to eating there! - Breakfast is fair.

I had chicken strips, fries, and a biscuit. Everyone raves over their biscuits. It was dry and stuck to the roof of my mouth.

Now I have a craving for LJS.

Yeah - I'm not crazy about it. If you have a Publix grocery store there - their fried chicken is very legit!

LJS batter is sublime.

They really should market the crunchies as a substitute for croutons.

I have never had LJS.

They closed the one by me and I'm not willing to drive 10 minutes out of my way for it.

It's decent, but absolutely not worth going out of one's way for. Most of the enjoyment I get out of eating there is an excuse to use malt vinegar and tartar sauce if that tells you anything.

I gave up eating fast food. I watch my caloric intake pretty close, so I don't like wasting them on fast food

Is it ok to just want hush puppies bare? I dont need to dip anything especially malt vinegar one of natures great fruit fly traps. This I learned at a LJS way back when they put out the vinegar bottle. The top was damaged and I lifted it up to see 1/4 inch of darker than the malt vinegar that turned out to be fruit flies. I never ever use the stuff unless it is in the plastic packets now.

I like to take a small bite out of a hush puppy and then smash where I bit into the crunchy bits of batter. Yummm!

I am in the same boat. If I am going over my normal calories, I don't want some shit fast food. Although LJS is just so talked about that I have to go at some point. I'll surely hit SR up when I do.

Speaking of calorie over-load, I am going for NY style pizza and wings tomorrow night for my birthday. :D

I dont think the pizza is as bad as one would think, the thin crust reduces carbs, tomato sauce has nutrients, and cheese has protein. Thin crust is always better for your waistline than thick.

Wings, however, remind me of this description - fat, wrapped in fat, cooked in fat, and dipped in fat.

Birthday is actually the 30th but that whole working 5 days per week puts a damper on things.

Pizza is definitely more calorie dense and one of the densest foods around. It's amazing the amount of calories found in just 2 slices of pizza. Just insane for most restaurant place.

No carbs in wings. They aren't as loaded as you'd think and I can diet and eat plenty of them with no ill effects since they don't have carbs. All protein and fat. Perfect. :D

I have been cutting weight. I'm on a 1450 cal per day regime for a while. I plan to get down another 5 pounds and then I'll be putting back on about 10-15 pounds in muscle gain. It's been a journey.....sucks getting older and trying to stay in shape

I agree! Just don't eat a ton of it - I am big on Marco's, I get beef and ham - which is odd I know - we grew up on Beef and Ham pie from Funhouse. So it's sort of in my blood.
