Arby's Pork Belly Sammich: Have You Devoured?

I want too, but I am fearful of disappointment. Anyone tried it already? Pros? Cons? Still alive to post about it? Post your experience here.

threebag 10-04-2016 06:56 PM

Looks good in the commercials.

I had no idea such a thing existed, but I am intrigued.

Easy 6 10-04-2016 07:02 PM

Honestly never had porkbelly, and the idea of trying it was somewhat tempting at first

But I swear, every time I watch that commercial... the less interested I am in trying Arbys version of it, the more I see that ad... the grosser its imagined to be

Something like that is better off being discovered in some kind of Bourdain-Zimmerman type food adventure IMO

Mr. Flopnuts 10-04-2016 07:03 PM

Pork Belly is ****ing amazing!!! As long as it's done right. Think burnt ends. Not taste, but perfection. How it has to be prepared perfectly.

Rasputin 10-04-2016 07:05 PM

Wendy's has a pork sammich with coleslaw once in a while for a special I think it's pretty good. I look forward to it back on the menu.

Well Arby's is probably not the place to try it then.

Arby's has surprised me with their ability to pull these off. Their brisket sandwich is way better than I expected. I'm going to have to make a run and update this thread tomorrow or the next day if someone doesn't beat me to it.

The 1 franchise we have in Hillbilly Hollywood is better than any other store I've been too in a decade. Not sure what the deal is, but they're good here.

Hell those little roast beef sliders with jalapeņo are on point.

I haven't had Arby's in several years. I never think to go there. Last time I went I had onion pedals with a Jamocha shake lol. Do they still have onion pedals?

lewdog 10-04-2016 07:54 PM

I used to get their beef and cheddar all the time in high school.

Is that still on the menu?!?!

threebag 10-04-2016 07:54 PM

The brisket sandwich is a good lunch. I must be lucky i seem to have a kick ass Arby's here in Andover.

Unsure, but I can confirm that they do indeed still have the Jamocha shake!

I dont know if i like when food places get cute with different buns. The onion roll is nice.

Hardees has a DAMN good bun. That perfect mixture of toasty sweetness. The mushroom Swiss burger from Hardees is a damn good sandwich, for fast food standards.

Arby's can't pull off a regular sandwich. Imagine the cluster**** that a "pork belly" will be. Do yourself a favor and make your own at home.

Not true. That's like saying pork loin is basically Canadian bacon.

It's the same cut, but bacon is cured and smoked. Pork belly is typically roasted or braised. The flavor of pork belly will be distinctly porky (not bacony), and the texture will be totally different.

Pork belly is awesome, though.

These are some sous vide pork belly sliders I made a while back.

Gonzo 10-05-2016 09:18 AM

Jesus, I don't think I've ever been hungry enough to eat that.

Small bits of pork belly is ok in black eyed peas or something, not a sandwich.
Just looking at it drenched in BBQ sauce is giving me chest pains.

By number of outlets, third in sales. I just came across this interesting detail about a month ago myself and was also surprised.

I expect that McDonalds is #1 in both with Chik-Fil-A being up there in sales since they have the most sales per location of any fast food chain.

Oh and no, I have not had that sandwich but there is no better milk shake than a Jamocha shake from Arby's! Worth the trip all by itself, IMO.

How? Arby's bought Wendy's which might have done it for a bit but Wendy's sold Arby's of a while back. Even then I think BK, Subway, or Chik would be over a Wendys/Arbys combo group

So... I was pretty drunk the other night, and fell down the rabbit hole watching a bunch of this weirdo's food videos. Man, this guy is fascinating in a Freudian curiosity kinda way. He's so very weird, and not very intelligent. But he's got this oblivious undeserved confidence quality that's oddly entertaining. Some of what he does just cracks me up, and not because he's trying to be funny. Like his awkward silent moments where he's just chowing down, yet still has this methodical look like he's really concerned with how he's eating. Then comes up with these dumb bizarre reviews. That and the oversized cheap suit, lawyer/pedophile haircut, and the weird way his mouth moves.

It's pretty easy to make stellar pork belly at home. Just stay away from fast food doing it.

Valiant 10-06-2016 05:02 PM

It was okay. Expensive for what it is.
Their brisket is a better choice if you are going faux bbq.

DrunkBassGuitar 10-06-2016 05:03 PM

I've had it. I love pork belly. It's the best thing I've ever had at a fast food restaurant, but at the same time, it's not the best example of pork belly. If you've never had it, try it but realize the pork belly can be better

You can make it in an oven pretty easily. Foodspin has a decent easy recipe it. If you live in the Johnson county area, the Asian market on 119th and Metcalf has it for cheap
