Florida Planeteers....riding out the storm or evacuating?
 

It's my first weekend here in Florida and look what happens....Hurricane Matthew.


I lived in Columbia SC and they had the 1000 year flood there. Now they are experiencing one of the strongest hurricanes in several years.

Maybe I am the bad weather charm.

Be outside working in it all day Thursday and Friday in Jacksonville and St Augustine. :)

You are going to have to elaborate. The ghetto in Jacksonville encompasses a large part of the city.

On the opposite side of Florida. Not going to effect us. Our area has never took a direct hit from a hurricane.

That last storm that come through I had so many friends and family ask if we were okay. Worst was our pool filled up with rain water. Expect no different this time.

But, if I lived in Melbourne or Daytona Beach, I'd probably be clearing out.

I'm expecting a direct hit. I will leave the island tomorrow. 100+MPH winds for a few hours. We'll see if I have a house left in a few days.

Storm shutters up and hunkered down. Live about 4 miles from the coastline here in far northern Palm Beach County. Picked up another gas canister today and ahandle of Tito's.

Will check in with you guys once it passes.

This. I don't know shitall about flooding. But I know wind. Tin and wind are a horrible combination.

Local weather guy says there has not been a cat 4 hurricane hit the central eastern coast of Florida since the mid 1800's.

I took down the stars and stripes and put up the Chiefs flag helps determine wind direction /strength and probably destroys the flag so it will save me a match.

I'm smack dab in the danger zone, but at least I'm 20-25 miles inland and not right on the coast. So I'm not evacuating.

I'm probably going to regret not having a generator, though.

The offer for shelter on this side of the state goes for you too. For that matter anyone on here. You need to get the hell out of the way of the brunt of this Hurricane. We have plenty of couches and air beds besides the spare bedroom.

Looks like Florida is going to take the brunt of this.

At first we were projected to have a direct hit by a Cat 4, then 3, then 2, now 1. I'm not leaving.

Hopefully you and your neighbors stole those sheets and bolted them on to your windows, if you could.

We are about 47 miles inland from the coast and are prepping for alot of rain and winds here....I would offer a room to people but we just moved in and the house is stacked with boxes.

They have been talking about the storm circling back and hitting south Florida a second time but being weaker on the second hit

By the looks of that model, everyone should just take a nice 10 day trip to Turks and Caicos.

I think the Turks and Caicos got brushed by this same hurricane earlier in the week.
