Florida Planeteers....riding out the storm or evacuating?
It's my first weekend here in Florida and look what happens....Hurricane Matthew.
I lived in Columbia SC and they had the 1000 year flood there. Now they are experiencing one of the strongest hurricanes in several years. Maybe I am the bad weather charm. |
Riding it out
|
Best wishes guys. In my prayers.

I suggest hunkering down. Riding it out sounds like you are going surfing. Hunkering down sounds much more sensible.:D

Buck texted me earlier and hes being forced to evacuate in SC
|
That state could use a bath.

Still debating here in Jax. Some gas stations are out of gas already.

I'm on the West coast of Fl so we're not expecting much here. I do have my hurricane kit ready though
|
Thoughts and prayers gang. If you don't flee, batten down the hatches.

Be outside working in it all day Thursday and Friday in Jacksonville and St Augustine. :)

On the opposite side of Florida. Not going to effect us. Our area has never took a direct hit from a hurricane.

Godspeed, FLA Planeteers!

But, if I lived in Melbourne or Daytona Beach, I'd probably be clearing out. |
I'm expecting a direct hit. I will leave the island tomorrow. 100+MPH winds for a few hours. We'll see if I have a house left in a few days.
|
Storm shutters up and hunkered down. Live about 4 miles from the coastline here in far northern Palm Beach County. Picked up another gas canister today and ahandle of Tito's.
Will check in with you guys once it passes. |
Good luck, Florida members. Remember to wear your lead shoes and take off any aerodynamic clothing.

Nothing more than a lot of hype. Just a little wind and rain. Tornados are a hundred times worse.
|
Even you mid-westerners may be effected.

I've heard the stories from the locals. Cat 3-4 hurricane, GTFO of the way. |
Stay safe Florida guys.

Local weather guy says there has not been a cat 4 hurricane hit the central eastern coast of Florida since the mid 1800's.
|
Stay safe folks.
Sent from my phone using Tapatalk (so spelling be damned!!!) |

Has anyone checked on BEP? SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK ON BEP!

You would think this thread would be higher on the totem pole.
|
Sounds like this is going to be a doozy.
|
I took down the stars and stripes and put up the Chiefs flag helps determine wind direction /strength and probably destroys the flag so it will save me a match.

I'm smack dab in the danger zone, but at least I'm 20-25 miles inland and not right on the coast. So I'm not evacuating. I'm probably going to regret not having a generator, though. |

Looks like Florida is going to take the brunt of this.
At first we were projected to have a direct hit by a Cat 4, then 3, then 2, now 1. I'm not leaving. Myrtle Beach area btw. |

I hadn't realized you'd moved SK. Stay safe bro.
|
I guess this is what's causing the cold front to move through the Midwest? We have a 20 degree difference in the highs for today and tomorrow.
Good luck to all you east coast Floridians. Check back in when you can. We'll be thinking of you. |
And when did Buck move? I'm so out of the loop.
|
Has anyone seen the beer looter yet?
|
There's a possibility that this storm could hit Florida twice?
