Lucky to be 2-2
Kinda stating the obvious here, but given how lackluster our play has been, winning 2 games is akin to being a miracle. The D was obviously stellar vs the Jets, but beyond that, their play has been below par -- not entirely unexpected given our youth at corners. DL play has been spotty, as has LB play.
Offensively, OL has played like shit, runners have fumbled and WRs have dropped several balls. Top this off with a QB that is playing pretty much at bottom of league level, and one wonders how we even won 2 games! Kinda tells me that we do have some talent on this team as teams with lesser talent would not have won 2. That said, unless this team shores itself up on serval fronts, this is going to be a very underwhelming season. And, as usual in football, it all kinda starts with the QB. Alex has gotta up his game....and hopefully that'll carryover to the rest of the team as well. Just siting here watching college football, and was spurred to share this most obvious reflection. |
We are a healthy Keenan Allen away from being 1-3 with our division opponents being 4-0, 4-0, and 3-1.

First year watching the NFL? Alot of teams have lucky wins. Look what happened in pile high week 1 and in zona. Both teams got lucky on missed kicks by guys that don't miss.

Last I checked, Houston doesn't play on offense.
So no. Things wouldn't be different. |
That's mule tool level fail. So yeah his presence causing more Rivers and Brock pant shitting would have made a difference.

I used to think this place had a higher than average level of football talk but more and more there are threads like this.

No much going on a the site today, so I thought I'd share a reflection or two. |
I was watching the PSU vs Maryland game earlier (awesome game if a PSU fan) and was amazed how bad they make the Chiefs offense look. There's really no excuse the level of offense we have to watch from this shit show.

Quit playing scared already!!! ****ing pussies!!!

In no way, shape or form did I expect this team to look so disjointed in the first quarter of the season... a hot start, even without Charles and Houston, was fully expected But then I found out that... Reid still loves him some screens Smith really is just an average game manager Our O linemens ankles and heads are made of paper mache Ware is still a bull, unfortunately that means he has hooves for hands Then I realized that... Ford has 1 sack in 4 games Bailey and Howard have turned back into pumpkins Tambas knees have turned into chalk and Peters is susceptible to the deep ball Other than that, we're doing great :D |

Nice basic thread. I'll offer 10 things I think are the biggest problems based on my eyeball test. If anyone can dispute them (or confirm) with A-22, I'm all for it.
Offense 1. Mitch Morse is playing bad. He's allowing pressure up the middle and isn't sustaining blocks. Is he less aggressive in staying at center after the concussions in 2015? 2. Zach Fulton is a terrible guard. Too often allows quick pressure and needs help from the center too frequently. Fulton's best position is clearly center, where he can operate in a phone booth. 3. Alex Smith is missing far too many reads. He's creating artificial pressure on himself by either not stepping up into a clean pocket, or rolling out into the tackle arcs. More often than not, Alex is not under pressure by NFL standards. The offensive line is playing far better than Alex is making them look, especially the tackles. 4. Spencer Ware needs to get the fumbling back under control. 5. Play calling has been suspect in the red zone, where Reid has been too cute with the passing game. Defense 1. Sutton is asking Peters, a perfect press and cover 2 type corner, to play off man far too frequently. 2. The scheme needs to change from single high safety to two deep. The youth at CB is getting exposed and there isn't over-the-top help to make up for it. 3. Justin March is out of position. He should be playing DJ's role, and that isn't happening this season. He's getting washed out and can't get through the blocks. It really is time to see what either Sam Barrington or Sio Moore can offer to help shore up the gashing in run defense. 4. Allen Bailey should be on the bench. He's getting no pressure and being washed out of plays. His counterpart, Howard, is playing below average to make matters worse. 5. Dee Ford is useless playing from the left side because he doesn't have the strength to take on right tackles. He doesn't look overly useful anywhere, but he certainly needs a shot at ROLB sooner than later. Hali should be able to play either side, so I don't understand not making the swap. |
No NFL team is "lucky" to win 2 games out of four, especially when the two losses are on the road against 2015 playoff teams.
Get real, idiots. |

O-1 It does appear that Morse is getting his sh*t pushed in. Can't imagine how concussions would play into that, but whatever/however, he needs to upgrade his play. O-2 Many have noted that Fulton has heavey feet; I'd agree with that. Personally, I think his best attribute is his flexibility (albeit with limitations). So he can sub in at both G positions and C. If Morse doesn't get his act together quickly, I'd switch him out for Fulton. O-3 Right now, Alex is making EVERYONE around him look worse. QBs can do that. And yeah, he's run into a few sacks, can't find squat when he rolls out, and in general is play like crap. So, I'd agree that the OL has bore some of this brunt. O-4 Ware's gonna be ok. Kid has the right attitude and will clean things up. O-5 Andy outthinks himself. Power football is foreign to him. D-1 Don't really have an observation on this; I think Peters has been all anyone could ask for. D-2 Not sure cover-2 suits both of our safeties very well; need to mix it up though. D-3 March seemed to be much better in preseason. Was he playing DJs position then? I don't recall. But I'd agree that he's not suited to take on heavy blocks. D-4 Whole DL play has been up and down. We don't seem to ever run many games up front. I'd like to see more of that. As per Bailey, he had a better game last game, but not overwhelmingly so. I'd like to see more Chris Jones in there. D-5 I'm pretty much of the opinion that Dee Ford is useless at just about any position. The guy is simply not dedicated to the game of football. At best he appears JAG to me. |

The Chiefs are 4 games into the season. The season isn't determined after 4 games and if you don't think that playoff teams feed off of shitty teams, you're dumb as ****. The Patriots have owned that shitty division for a decade. Same goes for the Colts. Wipe your bloody vag. |
Oakland
NO Indy Jacksonville Carolina TB After Oakland that's 5 games against teams with losing records |

Reid shut down Smith taking off and running the ball, the dude is lost. Andy hamstrung him and the whole offense with his stupid play calling.
