Chiefs @ Denver flexed to Sunday night

On Nov. 27, NFL flexed KC at DENVER into Sunday night spot and flexed out Patriots at Jets.

Per Schefter

Rain Man 11-14-2016 12:22 PM

Oh, no. The league needs to make Denver look good given their recent performances. Get ready for some hometown officiating.

KC Hawks 11-14-2016 12:23 PM

Great. We never play well on SNF.

eDave 11-14-2016 12:24 PM

Hate the Chiefs in prime time. They always suck. And against Denver we have no chance against the officials. Rigged.

O.city 11-14-2016 12:25 PM

Oh damn.

KC Hawks 11-14-2016 12:26 PM

Weird. Denver @ KC is also on SNF (Christmas).

Chief Roundup 11-14-2016 12:27 PM

Yeah we probably ****ed now.

Nice. Looking forward to a good game. chiefs are really good this year after decades of 1 hit wonders.

pugsnotdrugs19 11-14-2016 12:28 PM

'We can't play well on SNF', blah blah blah.

Their offensive line is going to get anally smashed by our front 7 in front of the entire country and I don't care when or where it is played.

Snica 11-14-2016 12:31 PM

Going to be pissed if they flex out the Christmas game

Hoover 11-14-2016 12:31 PM

So prime time games for the remaining games with Broncos and Raiders.

Seems about right.

We will get a tone of night games next year.

They won't. They're only flexing this one to increase ratings. It's that time of year, they want good teams and good games. I'm not even sure they can flex the Christmas game because it would be super inconvenient if people who bought tickets to a Dec. 24th game had to go on Christmas all of the sudden. Ain't happenin.

Snica 11-14-2016 12:35 PM

Had SNF ever featured the same two teams twice in one season

rico 11-14-2016 12:35 PM

I hope this is a Chiefs vs. Patriots on MNF a couple years ago type of thing... Probably not, thought.

Danguardace 11-14-2016 12:35 PM

On a selfish note hopefully means the Atlanta Game I am going to is safe.

Denver coming off a bye for this one will be tough.

Bowser 11-14-2016 12:36 PM

We always suck on Sunday Night. We're 0-5 on Sunday Night games, and now throw in the game being at Denver and the refs being in the tank for the home team, and we are likely looking at a double digit loss.

O.city 11-14-2016 12:37 PM

The Bronco home game is already on Sunday night, iirc. Christmas night.

Amnorix 11-14-2016 12:38 PM

One Jets scribe said "the Jets have done the impossible -- sucked so bad they knocked Tom Brady out of prime time!"

Yeah, that. KC/Denver should be a better game, and GO KC!

Edit: bolded part is a fix

Dunno how most of the league playing on Christmas Eve would effect things. It might be a pretty safe bet to say it won't switch.

If it does switch, I'm not going to be thrilled because I've planned on driving 9 hours to get back for the game on Sunday night.

My guess is that they flex us out of that game, especially if there are two NFC East teams (read: Cowboys and Giants) in a tight race for that division.

This is going to be very bad for me. All of my Wifes relatives are going to be at our house and they have no idea that I turn into a raving lunatic when I watch a Chiefs game. I will need to take some kind of chill pill. Can anyone recommend any prescription medication that I can take?

Direckshun 11-14-2016 12:41 PM

God damn it.

Royal Fanatic 11-14-2016 12:41 PM

Actually this could turn out to be pretty awesome.

When the Chiefs beat the Broncos on Monday Night Football in 1994, it was one of the greatest Chiefs victories ever. John ****ing Elway led the Broncos to a late 4th quarter drive to take the lead, and it looked like Elway was going to break the hearts of Chiefs fans once again. But then Joe Montana marched the Chiefs down the field and threw the winning TD pass.

I still remember that game like it was yesterday.

My guess is that we'll see some highlights from that game on this Sunday night game, and it will be AWESOME.

I don't think so. It's looking like it's gonna be a big game for the division (Chiefs Donks) so I can't imagine they'll give that up.

Plus IIRC, Dallas has already met their number on PT games.

pugsnotdrugs19 11-14-2016 12:42 PM

All this means is that Justin Houston gets to remind the country how good he is at 7:30 instead of 3:30.

Huh, maybe not. The only other game that day is Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh. I guess we MIGHT get flexed for that one, maybe? Depends on how close the race in the north is between those two?

For sure. That'd be cool shit.

At least the Chiefs and Broncos rivalry is being acknowledged pretty heavily on a national level. I freaking love this news.

pugsnotdrugs19 11-14-2016 12:43 PM

The NFL is not going to flex a game scheduled on Christmas. Especially when the other games are scheduled for the day before. Far too much planning goes into a deal like that. It's. Not. Happening.

Bowser 11-14-2016 12:43 PM

Maybe they'll move one of the games from Christmas Eve to Sunday night? Hell, I don't know how this stuff works. I need an adult.

Drink whisky. Lots of it until you can't stand up from the couch. You'll be good then.

Mile High Mania 11-14-2016 12:44 PM

Isn't there a limit a team can be on prime time?

TNF 2X, MNF, SNF 2X ... that includes the @ KC game, so 5 games as it is and it would be 6 is they flex the week 11 game.

***Edit***

Looks like only three teams in a given season can play as many as 6 primetime games. I don't know who the others would be for 2016.

You can't switch the day of a game just because you want to. Has to be weather or something of that nature.

If you could, Thanksgiving games would be flexed every year.

I find that if i drink i get obnoxiously loud and emotional about the games. It results in some screaming, cursing, maybe some punching of the couch and jumping off me feet. Maybe even some running around the house. If i smoke, i'm pretty mellow and a Newton pick 6 just results in a cheer, fist pump and a clap.

Quesadilla Joe 11-14-2016 12:49 PM

Talib and Wolfe are expected to be back for this game after missing the past couple games.

Hard to say. We will likely have the division sewn up by then, or we will be completing the sweep to knock the Donks out of playoff contention. The NFL will want a national stage for the Donks fighting for their playoff lives. Of course, they will all be sadly disappointed when wee end their playoff hopes.

I was sober.

I usually want to watch the games either with a few close Chief friends, or alone. I've told my wife, during Chief games, Cardinal playoff baseball games and KU basketball games, I'm not a parent. I'm not a husband. Plan accordingly.

scho63 11-14-2016 12:51 PM

Didn't that prime time ass raping Ben and the Steelers put on us convince the NFL we are NOT good on prime time? :hmmm:

pugsnotdrugs19 11-14-2016 12:52 PM

The NFL isn't gonna fuck with those Christmas games. It's setting up perfect for them. Possibly two division deciding games.

I see 4 losses remaining on Oakland's schedule and think they may wind up in 3rd. I can't see them winning @KC, @DEN, vs. CAR, and I think they lose one of their games against SD or BUF.

Discuss Thrower 11-14-2016 12:53 PM

The NFL can only flip the Broncos at KC game with Baltimore at Pittsburgh.

Feel free, as long as you reference the context of your suggestion that Denver finishes 8-8 ... a day after moving to 7-3. So, yes - I think you're clinically insane for saying they'll do no better than 1-5 in the final 6.

If you find some wild ass playoff prognostication from me, by all means - use that against me.

I had the at 6-4 heading into the bye week. Also had the Raiders at 5-4, and the Chiefs at 6-3. I had KC losing to Jets, PIT and CAR...

I've been pretty realistic with my projections this year.

Doesn't matter. I hate the Donks with the fire of a thousand suns. I will pick them to lose every week in hopes that they do. I would love nothing more than to see them miss the playoffs. I realize that my hopes and expectations may not come to fruition. Not because they are good. They're not. But because I expect them to not cheat in order to win. But that is actually the most far fetched expectation to have. Cheating is what they do. They are nothing but a bunch of cheating, dirty playing scumbags and they deserve nothing but misery and despair.
