Bad news for Chiefs is not the loss but the way they're playing

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The bad news for the Kansas City Chiefs is not so much Sunday’s home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though the 19-17 defeat is one they well could look back on at the end of season with regret. Still, the Chiefs have time to overcome the blemish. When they face the Broncos in Denver next Sunday night, they begin a stretch of the schedule that includes four games against AFC West opponents. What you need to know in the NFL Complete 2016 schedule Statistics Scoreboard Standings The true disappointment for the Chiefs is the way they’re playing. It will be difficult, if not impossible, against this upcoming schedule for the Chiefs to win the division with a largely unproductive offense and a defense that’s had little success getting its opponents off the field. The Chiefs broke through against the Bucs for an offensive touchdown, their first in two weeks. But they managed just two TDs despite having the ball inside the Tampa Bay 10-yard line on two other occasions. Once they had to settle for a field goal. On the other, in the fourth quarter with the Chiefs trailing by two points, Alex Smith threw a pass intended for a well-covered Chris Conley that was intercepted. The Chiefs, meanwhile, allowed the Bucs to have the ball for more than half of the game. Kansas City’s third-down defense was dreadful. The Bucs converted on 69 percent of their third-down plays. The two previous opponents, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers, had similar success in moving the ball on the Chiefs. That’s why the challenge presented by the Broncos next week and the Falcons in Atlanta the week after looks so daunting. The Broncos, who had the NFL’s fifth-best defense heading into this week’s games, figure to strangle a Chiefs offense that hasn’t been in any kind of rhythm since an Oct. 30 game against the Colts. The Falcons, meanwhile, led the NFL in scoring and were second in yards. Kansas City will need some points to win in Atlanta. This, indeed, is the Chiefs' predicament. It’s not that they lost to the Bucs but how that dims the outlook for their season. |

I can't wait to see how inept this offense will be against the Denver defense. Should be epic.

Break out the lube, and get greased up for prime time National TV rape.

As Chiefs fans, lube is a natural function. |
If everyone were to play next week, I wouldn't be optimistic. But at least we could hope to make a game of it.
|
I think the mounting injuries to our stars are the biggest concern right now.

Forgot that game got flexed to primetime, already stocked up on lube

Unless the defense takes the all away another 5 times we have no shot in Donkey land.
We can't run the ball well enough and certainly can't pass it well enough either. |

We will lose handily on national TV next week.

Everyone can see the team has been fortunate to win the last few weeks. Injuries to starters on both sides of the ball have hurt most tied in with conservative offensive play calling and lacklustre QB play. The defense has been opportunistic, but overachieving somewhat. Your penchant to shout the obvious from the rooftops gets tiring. When the Chiefs win again, you will pipe and know your place - or better yet be banned before that happens. |

Damn, I hope I'm wrong! |

And stop saying banning I root for no injuries or losses a-hole |

Andy is presiding over perhaps the league's worst offense.
He should be made to answer for that. |

I'm just happy as a Chiefs fan that we were very fortunate in 3 of those wins as it seems like we normally lose those.
No particular reason we're not 4-6 and for that I can be thankful for. Hoping they win at least one of the next 2 going into the next 3 AFC W games. |
