Will we be fine?

I hope we will be... but I could use some encouragement...

How about a "We'll be the same" option ?
Something like 'We'll continue to pull some wins out of our ass but don't expect a serious Super Bowl run'.

To me... that ain't so fine....

TigeRRUppeRRcut 12-18-2016 08:17 PM

I'm starting the next GDT thread as I had for the upset win in the ATL. It will not be started before midnight. Nor will it be titled 'gamethread'

Sandy Vagina 12-18-2016 08:21 PM

depends on your definition of fine..

if it's what i think, 31 teams won't be fine..

Easy 6 12-18-2016 08:22 PM

Taking into account the up and down nature of this team, and their propensity to play up/down to their competition... yeah, we'll sweep Dinver next week

But then what the week after that, and into the playoffs?

Can a team that cant beat the motherloving Titans at home, actually go on into the postseason on the road and win against teams that matter?

I have no firm answer to that question

To me, baseline fine is an AFCCG appearance. Pretty fine is SB a appearance. MOST fine is SB win!!!!

Why Not? 12-18-2016 09:03 PM

Nah. We're ****ed. Can't stop the run at all. We'll beat Denver and probably San Diego(who may have shutdown Gordon by then), but the next time we run into a Leveon Bell or Lagarret Blount, we'll lose another excruciating one score game

No. Losing DJ for the season last week. Is a deal breaker.
This team has to many injurys

Even if the Chiefs are able to make it to playoffs I can't see them doing anything with the current version of Alex Smith who is playing the worst football of his 4 year career in KC.

Raiders lose next week to a desperate Colts team.
Chiefs will use today's skidmark of a game as motivation against a dejected Broncos team next week.

Boom: Chiefs are back in the #2 slot.

BossChief 12-18-2016 09:44 PM

This was a tough loss, but it took a crap ton of mistakes for a pretty good team to beat us on a last second career long field goal.

I'm just saying...

That would be nice!

jimidollar 12-19-2016 12:31 AM

We'll be fine. We're the Chiefs. Everything is fine. Everything has been fine since 1987 for me with Chiefs. I need drugs.

ToxSocks 12-19-2016 12:39 AM

Nothing really changes. I thought they looked like the same team they've always been, and i still think they have a chance to win it all.

I had this pegged as a loss, so im not very upset about it. I expect the Raiders to lose to the Donks and the Chiefs to win out.

EPodolak 12-19-2016 12:58 AM

Voted "no".

On the other hand, a dumb loss like this was packed with useful lessons. Maybe someone will notice and learn from them.

tmax63 12-19-2016 07:17 AM

The Titans are fighting for their division just like the Chiefs. All the naysayers are saying "just" the Titans but these aren't the Titans of years past. They aren't a bad football team. Just like the Raiders are not the same old "Faiders" of the last 10 years either.

ChiliConCarnage 12-19-2016 07:36 AM

I don't think we looked much different from previous weeks.

Molitoth 12-19-2016 07:44 AM

We've been a perfectly fine mediocre team all season.

As far as playoffs are concerned... what a mirage, led by the masters Alex and Andy.
Those 2 better hope the defense can score points.

loochy 12-19-2016 08:40 AM

I don't know what "fine" is. We make playffos and lose in the first round road game.

scho63 12-19-2016 08:42 AM

After 47 years of pain and torture, no one is going to convince me with words and hope that the Chiefs will make anything more out of this season that another disappointment to add to the giant heaping pile of fail that this franchise has been known for.

That's exactly what the Johnny-come-latelys like TigerBob just don't understand.

redfan 12-19-2016 09:02 AM

Yes, fine.
Fine as in medium, fine as in average.
We will be fine.

oldman 12-19-2016 09:08 AM

The Titans are still trying to win a division, so they had something to prove. I think we'll win out and Denver will play the spoiler against the hated Raiders. Back into the #2 seed and a first round bye.

jkw87 12-19-2016 09:17 AM

I just want to know why Andy is still calling plays... We've had offensive issues on offense since his regime took over... Maybe it's Alex (he's part of it) but Andy should still give up play calling. I think it's been asked every season why he hasn't...

RaidersOftheCellar 12-19-2016 10:01 AM

I don't care about the history. Expecting more from a team simply because past teams have let you down is a little absurd.

But yeah, there was plenty to criticize yesterday. And there are plenty of flaws on this team. But they're down to what, 3 of their original front 7? Even with Houston back? Not surprising that the D isn't as solid as it's been in recent yrs.

And while Alex and Andy deserve a share of the criticism (especially Andy yesterday--Jesus), why does no one EVER talk about the run game? Pretty difficult for a QB to keep a consistent rhythm, utilize play action, etc when you have NO run game. The backs must have about a 10% conversion rate on 3rd and 4th and short this year and no one puts any blame on them or the pitiful blocking.

Danguardace 12-19-2016 10:13 AM

All I know is that it will be 1.25 am on Boxing Day (here in the UK) And I will be cheering on the Chiefs against the Pony FcUKERS.

**** it we lost I'm over it. Pats have the best QB of all time, we have a guy the 49ers didn't want and they have won 2 more games than we have. I'll take it.

Bury it and rise above

The thing is, even with Alex, this offense should be more than what it is. Shit after that first TD from Hill, I figured he'd get the ball plenty more in that game. Either from rushes, screens, drag routes, whatever. Did he even see the ball again after that? Just mindless offensive playcalling. An option on a game-clinching, playoff-clinching 3rd and 3? Jesus that's awful. Icing the kicker?!?! It's just all absurd.

The defense kinda sucks ass at times too. Where was Justin Houston? Is he not ready yet? He got owned all day.

Depends on definition of fine

9-7 to 11-5

playoffs just about every year but not a serious Super Bowl contender

better than sucking ... WCO Marty Shottenheimer

If Vegas has you in their top 4 to win it all, what does that say about you as a KC fan when you have no faith in your own team? We haven't achieved these odds in well over a decade. Maybe two..going back to 1995.

Except when we see the offense play dynamically/hurry up they accomplish a lot. Saw it in San Diego and Denver against very respectable pass defenses. It's when Andy is running a script that the players don't have much confidence in that things start to unravel.

It says that we are pessimistic because we've seen this shit before.

Us old-timers saw Shottenheimer put a regular season power house on the field for more than a decade. Good enough to win in the regular season but not quite good enough in the playoffs.

Each time Reid shows us a glimpse of real potential he throws a turd out there like against the Titans.

KC fans that have been around long enough are very suspicious of "Lucy and her ball trick".

Too many times ... too many times

It's a different era of football. Nobody gave the Ravens or the Giants (twice) a chance to win it all. Hell in 2010 when the packers (Rodgers was just breaking onto the scene) barely snuck in as wild cards nobody gave them a chance. This team has all the pieces and is close to firing on all cylinders. 2 division games left (typically do well in these games) before going into the dance. I like our chances, even more than last year's.

bricks 12-19-2016 03:50 PM

This poll should be edited

Instead of we won't be fine, we should see a "we're ****ed" option. Because literally we just ****ed ourselves out of home field advantage. And we keep ****ing ourselves losing the games we should win. It wouldn't surprise me if we **** ourselves out of the playoffs and if we make the playoffs we will probably either get embarrassed by Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Denver or Miami or we'll **** it up because it's what the Chiefs do.

Remember those choking playoff games a while back. The 3 missed fgs in 1995 playoff game against Indy from the kicker that shall be not be named and that crazy comeback by Indy two years ago from Andrew Luck. Why Sutton didn't make any adjustments that game was beyond me. How about the perfect playoff game by Manning in 2003? Against that Classic Chiefs high school defense? Why Vermecelli didn't opt to kick the onside kick is beyond me?

Incompetence, bad decision making from our coaches is literally the founding reason behind us Chiefs ****ing ourselves. Look at the QB controversy in 1997 with Grbac and Gannon as a way to help support my argument. Marty decides to go with Elvis rather than Gannon and as a result we lose in the playoffs to Denver. Like, we just **** ourselves all the time. If we had Gannon starting, I think we win the Super Bowl that year. But, Chiefs being Chiefs keep ****ing themselves with bad decisions.

You know what this organization needs? Better overall judgement from the top downward with respect to situations, scenarios and things. We need some astute evaluators here. I don't think we've ever had really really good one that could put us over the top.

Really?

Nah bro

I think history will repeat itself in the form of the Chiefs ****ing themselves. We're ****ed bro. Sorry man
