Unreal Estate Game: Kansas

Five houses to choose from if the Missourians don't cross the river and burn them down. (Or did that go the other way?)

If I'm living in Kansas it is here.

There are really nice homes at Lake Wilson that would make a great summer home. Upward $500k

I'd rather kill myself.

The Wichiata house was probably the closest I'd find appealing for me, but give me the 50K.

That said, the dead Manta Ray on the wall of the Lawrence condo is a strong selling point....

Bwana 12-24-2016 11:47 AM

Hmmm which one comes with a tornado shelter? I'm going to have to hear a bit more from the locals before I make this call.

GloucesterChief 12-24-2016 11:49 AM

We get the awesome Virgin Island house and then you follow up with Kansas. Pretty disappointing there.

Chief_For_Life58 12-24-2016 11:58 AM

The Olathe one is awesome

Rain Man 12-24-2016 06:51 PM

My rankings in a lackluster heat:

Lawrence - I like the floors and if you're on the fifth floor in Kansas you can probably see the curvature of the earth. It's convenient to restaurants even if they're not great restaurants. I'll also confess that I really wanted to move to Lawrence for college when I was 18 and didn't get the chance.

Wichita - The inside of the house is very nice, but I'm suspicious that they don't show the outside. The location is decent, so this place is doable, but not quite to the level of Lawrence.

Overland Park - Nice house, and reasonably close to stuff. Not the most wow-worthy house I've seen in the tournament, but it's nice.

Olathe - Perhaps my favorite house of the group, but the location doesn't thrill me.

Osawatomie - I'm not really into the house, and it's a long way from everything. Pass.

Lawrence with Olathe a close second.

On a related note: Wichita is pronounced Witchita right? It's not Witcheeta or something weird like that?

I think you're correct, though I've never been there.

From a branding perspective, I always preferred that Indian tribe called the Oauchita. That's a cool spelling.

I like the Lawrence place. Great interior, place to workout too. I'm sure the "panoramic view of Lawrence" is not to be missed either. :)

I chose Osawatomie because of 160 acres. I can build me a nice tornado shelter there. Since I live in Olathe on the 66061 side, I wouldn't want to move to the snooty 66062 side. Wichita has too damn many storms, shelter or not. And Overland Park... nah.

BWillie 12-24-2016 10:50 PM

Do they ever have 2.5 million dollar penthouses with no yard or maintenance? Id pick that one

Bwana 12-24-2016 10:53 PM

Ok I'll go with Olathe. Solid house with water, I guess that will do.

Couch-Potato 12-25-2016 06:51 AM

it official...Im moving back. Look how much you can get for a million back home jesus!

Too many storms in Wichita? I've lived here my entire life with the exception of the 4 years I left for college and I have never seen a tornado. I had to replace my roof once 10 years ago due to a hailstorm.

Oh, and the Oswatomie home already has a basement. No need for an additional shelter.

TinyEvel 12-25-2016 11:10 AM

I'll take the 50 grand and just stay where I am in Fairway.

Cool! You can come to my house for a cookout and some brews.

A basement is sometimes just a basement. It might need an upgrade to shelter status. Strange about Wichita. It seems every spring when I am in Denmark, there is news about some nasty storm around there. The Danes seem fascinated by tornados. The one that hit in Oklahoma a few years back, Danish TV2 was live on the scene the day after.

Osawatomie for me, I've always wanted a place in the country
