Figured I'd get this discussion going sooner than later. Here's your thread to suggest ways to make this place great. This can be anything from new capabilities (though no promises on making anything work), new ways of organizing things, whatever.

As examples, I think we need to figure out a way to meet the desires of people who want calm, in-depth discussion of the Chiefs and people who love a no-holds-barred, in-your-face style.

I also keep thinking about ways to have more unique content, kind of like gblowfish's 10 Things threads. Maybe we could have people write regular features or something like that?

I certainly don't have the answers, but we might as well use the offseason to talk about some cool ideas.

I actually agree about MU personally. It was kind of a funny tool back when no one knew about it, but now it's just a more dickish way of banning someone.

Agree on GIF'd up too, though that one is obviously trickier to replicate. I do love watching the game breakdowns that ArrowheadPride puts out - we certainly don't have anything like that.

Well, permaban for a certain Donkey fan poster would be a start....

mods stay out except for TOS issues. You get one mod from each side of the aisle that can work together and trust each other. Takes both to agree to ban someone from the sub forum or any discipline.

Should be a committee of mods when voting on a disciplinary action or ban, with 2/3 required to enforce. Clearly, the Pest situation was controversial and this would solve that.

It's even simpler than that.... the personal attacks, racist shit, etc; are pretty obvious from anyone who doesn't have a side. No agreement needed if you're the least bit objective.

Just like the Lounge, it would take a cultural shift, which wouldn't be easy for those who love to roll around in the shit... but, the solution doesn't take a plan beyond the go ahead and willingness to clean up that shit hole.

I agree. The pushback has always been that the mods would spend all day in there producing that cultural shift. That's why it was rejected. New team, new ideas. They want to roll in the shit, take it to the Romper room just like it was when the site first started.

You need people everyone knows in there to make it work and the backing of the site to pull it off. The rules would be simple. Same as the lounge. Everyone already knows those rules.

Tough to say if it would be a 24/7 thing, but of course the biggest step would be having any kind of presence at all and laying out new rules..... on one hand, I'd like to believe laying out those new rules and enforcing them for a few weeks would do the trick. I have nothing against you. I believe I've even mentioned that when you're not discussing Alex that you can put together some decent football discussion. But when it comes to Alex, you are just as big of a problem as the people you're complaining about.

I can respect your viewpoint on this, but consider that those of us in the minority that are insulted/ridiculous/harassed constantly by a large crowd, it's only natural to start to play on their level when we don't want to.

the previous discussions on this had everyone agreeing that it would take awhile to change the culture. There would be people pushing the boundaries for a while. But, if the Romper room was resurrected, it would go a lot smoother.

FTR, my responses to BRC and Daface that started as a joke was nothing more than carrying out some conversation..... I personally give no ****s about DC and think it should be the least of our worries.

However, some of the shit that goes on there is obviously beyond what has ever been allowed here in the Lounge, and someone who's objective enough and willing enough could Make DC Relatively Tolerable Again.

That would certainly free up my spare time.

Yep. I admit I am no angel but 99% of the time I am pretty tame unless someone starts repeatedly attacking me. But anytime I post I get mostly name calls to me.

I don't have an answer for it other than cracking down on people.

I do have a suggestion though for the new mod team, you can start by filtering out the words fake news. That is all anybody says over there anymore. It is becoming almost pointless to cite any news source. It is ridiculous.
