The Chiefs are giving Tardif a 5-year, 41 million dollar contract
WTF. He's average at best. What a waste of money.

LDT Getting Extension

I'm sure it's going to be very team-friendly.
|
Holy ****.
|
Yeah...I'd bet this is somewhere close to a 3 year deal.
|
Um......ok.
Why?... |
KC can't afford to give him much of a first year salary. He's going to be expensive going forward.
|
Holy shit, he's been pretty average so far.
Is 5/41 really average guard money in the NFL now? |
Tardif was the 27th rated guard and 44th in run blocking.
|
I mean, he IS getting better. But whew.
|
Rearranging the cap money ?
|
Jesus christ. Dorsey has earned more than enough credibility to make these kind of calls, but this one is staggering

Take this shit down.

On the day we're giving Berry word that he'll be franchise tagged, Poe will be allowed to walk, HERE YA GO DEPTH AT OLINE.... cause you can't find that in the draft for cheap....

That's a lot of money. I'm surprised they are that sold on the guy.
|
If they're gonna give LDT that kind of money, just wait until we have to pay Mitch Morse.
|
Not a huge fan of this deal but I get it.
He's entering a contract year and as long are it's team friendly it makes sense. Frankly if he plays next season the number he would get on the market would be hefty if you ask me. Not going to get worked up over the total number until we see some details. |

Poe is a bitch that doesn't deserve to get paid but......I'm done.
**** it. "Next year..." |

Those numbers put LDT in the TOP 3 paid RG in the league. He's not even in the top half in terms of performance. There are decent guards all over the league making 2-3 million per without a big contract to go along with it. |
To me, this is a head scratcher?
|
The guarantee better be like 4. Dollars.
$4. |

We could find better in the 4th round of the draft this year. In fact, we could have found 5 men better AFTER the 4th round of the draft last year... |
He's improving, high ceiling, but.... this doesn't add up money wise. You're telling me this guy wouldn't have accepted 25/5? I think he would have.
|
This deal is going to be team friendly as shit.

Can't be much guaranteed money. He hasn't proven to be worth half of this money...

We've already gotten the best of Andy, going forward it will just 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. Rinse, repeat. People scoff at the idea but we should absolutely be looking for a replacement for Andy. We won't though. At least Marty errr Andy will keep us a borderline playoff level team most of the time. |

Most confusing contract thus far in the Dorsey/Reid era. At least on the surface.

Fine with this. I like him.

Countdown until Reid gives DaT a contract extension similar to Tavon Austin.
4...3....2.... |
There must be something we don't know going on here.
|
Sticking it to Eric Berry?

He may not have been willing to stay in the NFL and sacrifice his body for "average guard money." |
How does Eric Berry feel about this

To a guy who can make even more money over the long haul after he retires, that's important. He could potentially get into a situation where his medical career goes tits up if he gets a concussion or mangles a hand. |
They obviously see something many of us do not.

Dorsey is great at wasting cap

I'm sure he will see every penny of that
Breathe, people. |

Maybe he is better than we think? Top 5 in pass blocking efficiency in 2016. Would have never knew had he not signed.

Then I won't breathe :harumph: Guards were probably our weakest position on offense this year. |
LDT was one of the best pass blocking G's in football last year.
People again freak out at a contract without the details. FFS wait for the yearly cap hits to come out. I bet its backloaded as hell |

This means that the starting OL is all under contract through 2018, FWIW
|
What the hell? We give one of the worst guards in the league more cash but keep the worst QB? Dorsey has run out of ideas and is going down the shitter.
|
$20 million guaranteed, per Terez Paylor. 3-year deal in all likely hood.
|
We had him for 2 more years anyway right? Why not wait til next year

A disturbing trend. We add good offensive players and the offense doesn't improve. We add defensive players, and we see significant improvements.
Yet we're loading a shitload of money on offense and forcing our defense to make do, and every year we lose key players. Granted, with Dorsey's history, this will probably be backloaded with no up-front guarantees. It's a Dorsey signature. And maybe that's not terrible since LDT will now have more time to devote to football. But even backloaded, $40M is a shitload of money. I don't know how you can justify letting Poe walk while signing this contract. |
Look for Berry to sign a long-term contract by tomorrow night
