WTF. He's average at best. What a waste of money.

I'm sure it's going to be very team-friendly.

The Franchise 02-27-2017 03:30 PM

Holy ****.

The Franchise 02-27-2017 03:31 PM

Yeah...I'd bet this is somewhere close to a 3 year deal.

Rausch 02-27-2017 03:31 PM

Um......ok.

Why?...

Quesadilla Joe 02-27-2017 03:31 PM

KC can't afford to give him much of a first year salary. He's going to be expensive going forward.

Mr. Laz 02-27-2017 03:31 PM

Holy shit, he's been pretty average so far.

Is 5/41 really average guard money in the NFL now?

Hammock Parties 02-27-2017 03:32 PM

Tardif was the 27th rated guard and 44th in run blocking.

KCrockaholic 02-27-2017 03:32 PM

I mean, he IS getting better. But whew.

That's a lot of money. I'm surprised they are that sold on the guy.

KCrockaholic 02-27-2017 03:37 PM

If they're gonna give LDT that kind of money, just wait until we have to pay Mitch Morse.

Hoover 02-27-2017 03:37 PM

Not a huge fan of this deal but I get it.

He's entering a contract year and as long are it's team friendly it makes sense. Frankly if he plays next season the number he would get on the market would be hefty if you ask me.

Not going to get worked up over the total number until we see some details.

I disagree

Those numbers put LDT in the TOP 3 paid RG in the league.

He's not even in the top half in terms of performance.

There are decent guards all over the league making 2-3 million per without a big contract to go along with it.

PHOG 02-27-2017 03:43 PM

He'd be lucky to cling to the bottom 1/3rd of the league.

We could find better in the 4th round of the draft this year.

In fact, we could have found 5 men better AFTER the 4th round of the draft last year...

pugsnotdrugs19 02-27-2017 03:46 PM

He's improving, high ceiling, but.... this doesn't add up money wise. You're telling me this guy wouldn't have accepted 25/5? I think he would have.

We've already gotten the best of Andy, going forward it will just 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. Rinse, repeat.

People scoff at the idea but we should absolutely be looking for a replacement for Andy. We won't though.

Yeah, like all of it. No one knows what's guaranteed. Shit, he's probably got like $15mil in incentives if he makes all pro. I'd also bet that he's not going to see at least half of that cash by the end of the life of the contract.

It's possible his medical career was used as extra leverage in contract talks.

He may not have been willing to stay in the NFL and sacrifice his body for "average guard money."

Doctors make a lot of money, but their salaries are still only six figures. I doubt that would have made any impact.

Yes but how long can he actually make money in the NFL vs injury risk.

To a guy who can make even more money over the long haul after he retires, that's important.

He could potentially get into a situation where his medical career goes tits up if he gets a concussion or mangles a hand.

chiefzilla1501 02-27-2017 04:33 PM

A disturbing trend. We add good offensive players and the offense doesn't improve. We add defensive players, and we see significant improvements.

Yet we're loading a shitload of money on offense and forcing our defense to make do, and every year we lose key players.

Granted, with Dorsey's history, this will probably be backloaded with no up-front guarantees. It's a Dorsey signature. And maybe that's not terrible since LDT will now have more time to devote to football. But even backloaded, $40M is a shitload of money. I don't know how you can justify letting Poe walk while signing this contract.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-27-2017 04:33 PM
