Alex Smith: "I think [the Chiefs] are only committed to me through this year"
|
BOOM
|
Even the man himself knows it, Tigger. Yet you can't see it. LMAO
|
I imagine these discussions have taken place for months now.
|
|
stating the obvious..
May or may not actually hear that he informed them of his plans to retire in 2018. stay tuned.. doesn't matter though. On to the Mahomo era! |
I know this is obvious-- the thread is directed at those who actually think Smith is on a 2-year leash.
|
|
Thing is, Dorsey has a needle to thread here.
He made a great step identifying and acquiring Mahomes, but he has to manage this transition in an effective and respectful way. I get it, people hate Alex here, but the franchise is not going to endear itself to prospective players if they pull a 49ers on him again. I don't think they will. But then, the task becomes extracting a ton of value from a legit franchise that isn't a potential rival in the AFC. They can't use their waning contract leverage to ship him off to the likes of Cleveland, and sending him to SD/LA or TENN will be a real headache. Can you imagine the heads exploding if an Alex-led AFC team goes on a playoff tear at our expense, even in 4-5 years [unless we have some success of our own in the intervening time]? Not saying he's going to skyrocket in production, just remembering what 32yo Vinnie Testeverde looked like, compared to 38-39yo Vinnie. |
Tiger just kicked the chair out from under him and is swinging back and forth.....
|
Smith knows his 2018 salary is going to pay for Marcus Peters.

still.. even though I am sure he's gone after the year.. this in and of itself is not proof that he is gone after the year. It only suggests that it makes more sense from a cap perspective that the commitment has always been year to year beyond 2017. |

I am surprised he would say that publicly. Even management haven't said that publicly.

"So I get it, going into year 13. You understand it. At the same time it doesn't change my focus, right? I still feel I've got a lot of years left in me. I still feel like I'm getting better, to be honest with you.''
Delusional. |

I'm quoting this again just to point out the idiocy of it. He said himself he thinks he has several years left... |

You're nothing but an alex smith fanboy who's trying to keep a straight face by lacing your homerism with word diarrhea. You might as well be known as Sandy Lee or BabyUppercut at this point. Come to your senses already. He's headed for the garbage heap. |

I want the Chiefs to do well. The Kansas City Chiefs, an NFL franchise. I'm ecstatic that the Chiefs secured a solid QB in the draft by actually scouting, identifying and securing him, instead of throwing darts at the QB board every year, regardless of merit. I don't think Dorsey will let Alex go to a potential playoff rival, and I have faith that he'll develop the team sufficient to beat whomever they face anyway. The only schadenfreude is to the fans who increasingly demonstrate that their pissing and moaning about mediocrity was a mere mask for their pissing and moaning about no blockbuster QB draft. The ones who could give a shit about the rest of the team, so long as the franchise drafts the way they want them to [the wheekyewbee crew]. It's not gonna bite them in the ass because Dorsey is a professional, but they [and they alone] would deserve it if it did. |
Personally I don't think they are committed to him as the starting QB even this year. Money is the only reason he is still here. If Mahomes shows up strong in camp... the switch is happening sooner than 2018.

Why would he care? Alex Smith isn't putting any teams over the top. Come the **** ON man. You're off your rocker. |
|
I hear the Patriots are foaming at the mouth at the thought of signing Alex Smiff. To be their 3rd string quarterback.

Yawn. Make a thread when he kills himself.

I think Sandy is Alex's wife.
Tiger is Alex. That's sad guys. |

How peculiar maybe it's irony? On one hand we have an aging quarterback to watch struggle only to get worse on the other hand we have a looming quarterback that may struggle when he starts but he will only to get better.
I'm excited for Patrick Mahomes II it really is his team to take over. |

Exactly why this will be Alex's best year EVER.

Well at least when he's cut or traded after the season it won't be a shock. But he's a smart guy. You don't trade up and give up your future 1 st for a guy you are gonna stash for 2 years.

I would bet $100 easy that he will be playing for a new team in 2018... I have no doubt. |

I think Alex finally got SOMETHING right for a change.
2018. So long, bitch. |
"Whether or not we drafted Patrick, it doesn't change that, right? If you're not good enough and didn't get it done, you're not going to be around long. That's just our culture. I know it. That's the nature of the position."

Please GOD go to Denver!
Yep, horseface needs him some "stabilizing" at the QB position. |

From a roster standpoint, this indicates that they want him around next season. FWIW. |

I just respect that the starter position at QB isn't as simple as plugging in a pair of Duracells, and that the game isn't as simple as a new QB throwing it anywhere and everywhere. We still have a lot of problems, largely staying healthy and showing up at the end of the year, but the FO is handling them [thank God]. |

Time to face reality bud. |
He did the exact same thing in San Francisco when Kaepernick started to pick up steam.
All you people that thought he wasn't going to do this here because he and Andy Reid are close were ****ing idiots. This dude is just worried about his next starting gig. |
Quote:
Yes please go to Denver all of you Alex lovers go with him. |

You're justifying my point about falling in line. |
Please, please...Denver!!!

PM2, will be the same if he falters too. Though considering he's in the perfect situation to succeed it will more drunken jubilation than if SI models are giving free BJs at the gate entrances at Arrowhead. I would be more verbose but I'm on my cell phone so it's a pain in the ass to type with ****ed up autocorrect. |
