The Dorsey story

"I notified John that we would not be extending his contract beyond the 2017 season, and after consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement. "This decision, while a difficult one, allows John to pursue other opportunities as we continue our preparations for the upcoming season and the seasons to come."

i.e. Both Andy and John had contracts expiring and Andy signed what is essentially a long term contract considering his age, however, John would not commit to the same due to the fact that he is is leaving for Green Bay next year. Clark realized that putting a new GM and regime in place now for next years draft was his only choice. Like it or not he is 100% correct.

Hopefully our new GM can get and keep us out of cap hell.

If that's the case he should have hired Ballard as his replacement a long time ago.

Deberg_1990 06-22-2017 04:54 PM

This sucks.

KC Chiefs, always the bridesmaid, never the bride

Not sure about that, according to my sources Clark is not happy with our continual cap situation. Not sure Ballard would have solved that.

Andy will have the same or more personnel power he has had since he and John teamed up and the next GM will have one main focus... THE CAP

We have one of the better rosters in the league outside of our starting QB (and that has been addressed with Mahomes), shouldn't that justify the spending?

Hog's Gone Fishin 06-22-2017 04:59 PM

Well, hopefully Dorsey started his own tree right here. I mean all the people around him watched him work and it had to rub off.

WE ARE FINE

- Everyone below John is still in place
- Our staff does an amazing job of finding and vetting GEMS (yes, Tyreek is a GEM as is our future franshise QB)
_ Andy has had a LOT more say than anyone realizes on who we have been drafting

ALL IS WELL

Spott 06-22-2017 05:02 PM

I will miss all of those playoff wins he got us.

Whosurdaddy 06-22-2017 05:03 PM

Andy being the GM in Philly is the single reason he isn't there anymore.

Then why is New England so deep yet continually below the cap?
John was NOT good at cap friendly contracts and look where we are. The Maclin fiasco was a cap hit due to the horrific contract we initially signed him to.

Why didn't Clark just promote Ballard?

Trip is a major reason we are in cap Hell, John should not have trusted him like he did. Sometimes loyalty can go to far.

I will agree with that due to the fact that Brady is so willing to renegotiate more cap friendly contracts to surround himself with talent. Exact opposite of Manning

It was the most we'd had in 20 years.

Andy being the COACH AND GM is the reason. Look at the players on that roster when he left. They were loaded for bear and have now traded many of them away because they were too loyal to Andy. He was spread too thin and now admits it.

teedubya 06-22-2017 05:20 PM

What in the actual ****?! God damn the Chiefs.

OK, Save Our Chiefs v2?

I would like to see a link to this. Dorsey has shot that notion down several times.

Because they are the absolute elite in finding loopholes, and are currently paying the greatest QB of all time pennies against the salary cap because he's being paid under the table through his own personal fitness company that doesn't affect their cap space.

This.

And I can assure you of this much; whatever the Chiefs are saying about this is at best a half truth, at worst a complete bald-faced lie.

I don't believe I have ever seen an entity that just downright delights in shooting itself in the ass this repeatedly.

Was the guy too competent? Did he work just a little too hard?

Un****ingbelieveable.

dj56dt58 06-22-2017 07:26 PM

I thought Clark realized he didn't replace a GM until we flew a banner telling him to ****ing do so?

I'm as pessimistic as they come around here, but dude, the Chiefs do pretty well in all regards outside of one thing: QB. Unfortunately it's the one thing that matters most, but we've had our share of pretty much everything else.

No one should be shitting bricks over this. We really have no clue how the inner workings of the front office go.

KCrockaholic 11-21-2017 03:00 PM

We haven't heard a peep from Dorsey since he was fired. I'd like to know what he's thinking and what he's up to. But like SR said, not worth the plugin install.

27:30 Alex Smith talk.

Alex understands the system, been in it for 5 years.
People don't realize how competitive Alex is. Does not like to lose.

If you were looking for "Alex is limited, so I drafted Pat...", not going to find it, haha.

Still covering that ass. Pitiful. All that does is tell me that Veach is the better man for the job.

**** off, Dorse.

Aren't the Chiefs still paying him? Sorta like Pioli was absent for a year after his firing. Still being payed by the Clarks. I just hope the Donks dont wise up and hire Dorsey.
