Keurig k-cup coffee makers and pods
OK, I just purchased my first Keurig coffee maker and would like to get some opinions of different coffee pods I should be giving a try in order to find a favorite.
Currently the coffee maker came with Starbucks Pike Place, Carribou classic and smooth, Dunkin Donuts original blend, and Green Mountain Dark Magic. Are there any can't miss coffees out there that I should be trying? They included a couple really good coupons I can use and I want to use them for experimenting. I already know I don't like the Newmans own coffee. Way to bitter for me. Preferably, for now anyway, keep it to pods I can purchase directly from www.keurig.com |
I dig the Dunkins coffee Kcups.
And if you're into trying it out......give Black Rifle Coffee Company a try. https://www.blackriflecoffee.com/?gc...SAAEgJ-DfD_BwE I bought a pack of their "Caffeinated as ****" coffee and it's damn good. Plus it's run by Veterans. |
What model # is it and where did you get it? Cost?
|
I purchased one as a gift from Amazon. They had a multi-pack for sale that had a shit ton of different varieties which I got along with it. From that you should be able to find one you like.

I've had good experiences with the Keurig.com site--the shipping is reasonably fast and you can usually get some sort of discount--but lately I've gotten in the habit of picking up a box or two at a time from the local grocer when they have a medium-roast coffee on sale, especially Arabica coffees from Colombia. A reliable and not too pricey brand is Eight O'Clock's Colombian. Peet's Cafe Domingo is a blend of Central and South American coffees and nice. Folger's Colombian is also good. These are all nice and straightforward coffees. I'm not sure it matters or not, but I try not to order too much at once because I drink it infrequently enough that it can get close or past the expiration date.
I don't care about the cost of a K-cup being higher. It's not much higher and it saves me time cleaning grinders and coffee pots and the like. I also keep some hot cocoa and tea on hand for guests. Twining's k-cups are nice. one last thing, the Keurig.com site will let you buy "sample" boxes that have 5 K-cups in them...those are pretty nice for trying something to see if you like it and also to make it so that the total cost of an order exceeds some minimum threshold, for coupons and the like |

well, the question in the original post is about keurig. don't have one in our house, but my son has one and uses it every day. same coffee. we have one at work, with one of those tree things w/every damn flavor i could imagine. no one uses it...oh every once in awhile someone sticks a container in it.
i figure if we needed one, the wife would have bought it already. i don't drink coffee. i want something to bring me down, not jack me up. water and beer. sec |
Eventually you'll get one of the refillable things. No need to spend $.50 a cup or whatever. Just skip to that now instead of hunting down cheap mail order k-cups and you'll be happier.

Can just get one of these and fill yourself, Guru. https://www.amazon.com/Greenco-Reusa...fillable+k+cup |
If it's a Keurig 2.0, then search for the hack on Youtube so you can use any coffee that you want in the machine.

Donut Shop is good. You should be able to get a reusable cup and put coffee that you can buy in bulk in it. Save lots of money.

San Francisco Bay on Amazon. Great coffee, usually under 40 cents/cup, and the pods are completely biodegradable if you care anything at all about the environment. They're all good but Fog Chaser is my favorite and their best seller.

Believe it or not Menards has great deals on K-Cups. They have multiple options in their grocery aisle and then great deals from time to time on 80-92 packs. You can get them for around 20-25 cents a cup and they are different flavors, or dark which I prefer.
|
Peets Major Dickinson's Blend is my favorite and I prefer bold dark roasts.
Sams and costco are a good source for bulk kcups and even better when they are on a monthly promo. |
anyone had issues with green sludge after it sits for a while LMAO

I just say its worth trying and I think they have a money back policy maybe |
Thanks 007.

Thanks for all the input. I tried Green Mountain Dark Magic today and it is definitely not to my liking. Generally dark roast coffees are too bitter for me as is this one. Their breakfast blend wasn't bad though. Looks like I'll be using sugar to make this one taste better for the next 11 cups.

What a waste of money. Use that old drip coffeemaker, if it's decent (a new, high quality drip costs about $25). You can use your favorite coffee and make 4 cups of coffee for less than a dime. BTW, a cup of coffee is about 5 oz.. It's measured differently than other liquids. A 4 cup brew will fill a travel mug nicely.

Go get a small refillable K-cup. Then go buy whatever great coffee you like, grind it up for espresso, and then brew fresh grounds every time. It tastes 100x better and then added benefit creates no extra trash. |
I'm a bit of a coffee snob and only make pour over coffee at home, but Starbucks honestly has some pretty decent Keurig stuff, from what I've tried. If you like darker roasts, try their Sumatra pods.

never been really impressed with kcups.
I'm a simple man. I go to costco, buy a 2lb bag of Peets dark roast. I use a little plastic cone, put the filter in and then the coffee and pour boiling water into it and it drains into my cup. Or the french press, depends if I feel like cleaning the french press or not. |
I have 4 refillable K Cups and use Dunkin Donuts decaf to have 4 filled every morning.
Have one cup before work and at least 6-8 when I'm off and smoking cigars out on the porch. |
