Trevor Jizz named Donks starting QB

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...ng-quarterback

Quote:

The Denver Broncos have named Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback, with coach Vance Joseph saying Monday that Siemian was the "clear-cut winner" in his competition with Paxton Lynch.

"We decided on making Trevor Siemian our quarterback," Joseph said. "Both guys competed hard. Both guys wanted the job. We're pleased with both guys, but overall the operation of the entire offense, decision-making, ball placement, was more consistent with Trevor. That's why he won the job."

Joseph had split work between the two quarterbacks in the offseason program, organized team activities, minicamp and training camp. Siemian and Lynch have each started one preseason game.

Siemian likely closed the deal Saturday night when he came in against the San Francisco 49ers with just over three minutes remaining in the first half and led the Broncos on a seven-play, 53-yard touchdown drive.

In three possessions, Siemian led the Broncos to 10 points, and on his touchdown pass -- a 19-yarder to Jordan Taylor -- Siemian bounced back from having a touchdown nullified by a holding penalty on the previous play.

Paxton Lynch is ****ing terrible.

RealSNR 08-21-2017 04:26 PM

Quote:

Lynch said he was disappointed not to be named the starter.

"I gave it everything I had to go out there and win the job, and at the end of the day the coaches made the decision," Lynch said. "Now, at the point where I'm at, I just have to prepare and be ready."

"Obviously I believe in myself to be the starter, but the coaches made a decision and that's what I'm rolling with," he added.

He is somewhat Alexual Smithian but he does take shots downfield because he doesn't have the wheels.

Eh. It could work. Imagine if Smith didn't have the legs and knew that he had to rely on his arm to make plays? Not necessarily outstanding but not shitty either.

There's more, though. it isn't just that Denver's first round QB doesn't appear to be progressing, or that Denver traded up. There have also been several discussions that Denver traded up to choose because KC was going to pick Lynch. So we dodged a bullet, Denver got a crappy QB and they lost draft choices.

RealSNR 08-21-2017 06:28 PM

If Knowmo's Donk sources said Lynch was much improved and looked awesome during the offseason, why the **** should we believe them when it comes to Chad Kelly? All they got is college tape.

Oh, but Chad Kelly has grown up they said? Guess what. So did Tyler Bray when he entered the NFL.

The best part is they just gave Elway an extension. So he will have to keep trying and failing at the draft a QB thing. Actually, it's the whole drafting thing in general that he has problems with. Love it!

He hasn't demonstrated he can keep a head coach, either.

Without a real QB, I'll bet Vance Joseph gets two seasons before he's fired. Three tops.

Red Dawg 08-21-2017 06:57 PM

If Semen doesn't show big improvement Elway make a move for Brees or some other aging vet. There will be coming up and they are expensive. He would have to trade but it's the last year of several players on defense.

I dont see Paxton as a prototypical WC QB at all...Chiefs wanting him was just rumor...and they never confirmed it. They could have just as easily let this bogus information intentionally "slip out"... a little payback for Sanders.

I think short term Semien is the better pick, he can manage the game and let the d do the heavy lifting.

Long term I'd rather roll with Lynch in that I don't think he's going to do much developing in the bench but who knows

It doesn't really matter. Lynch is a bust. The Broncos will be in the QB market again in 2018.

Beef Supreme 08-22-2017 09:22 AM

Siemian isn't the dumpster fire some of you guys are making him out to be. He lit our secondary up last year. And he can get better. He may not be a superstar, but he's more than serviceable. I'm thrilled that the Donks seem to have missed on the Lynch pick.

He might've lit us up the first game, but he was absolutely terrible in the second game. I expect him to look a lot more like the latter against us this season.

Normally I'd agree, but the guy is just flat out too stupid to be a legit starting NFL QB. I've been saying this since about a week before the 2016 draft when I heard him speak and looked up his Wonderlic.

For a 1 year starter, he isnt terrible.

59.5 comp %
3,401 yds
18 TD
10 INT
84.6 Rate

Looks ominously similar to Alex after 13 years.

Sure, he and the whole team fell apart that game.

Denver let the first quarter get away quick. No two ways around it, they were down 7-21 @ Arrowhead before the 2nd quarter started with a beaten up OL and no ground support. Couple of blown coverages on Hill and Kelce and it was over. And, Trevor was playing through an injury - no excuses, KC beat their ass.

That was 2016... it wasn't all doom and gloom. I'm optimistic at this point.

I don't think this was a "let people think it's true rumor" it's been pretty well known we were trying to get him, but thank god it didn't happen. I remember an hour before this years draft seeing Ian Rapaport say we were making the most noise and thought no way bullshit and sure enough we did. The future is bright my friend.

He's totally not flashy and needs to become comfortable with the fact that he's won the job now twice, so take the reigns and make the steps towards being a more vocal leader. The 'aw shucks' persona needs to be shelved, you've earned the job and are are the starting QB for this team... be that guy.

Well, we'll soon know how it all shapes up for 2017. Took an OT doink FG for KC to win in Denver. The Broncos were beat up in the second half last year with a first year starting QB.

I like their chances this year... Trevor isn't nearly as terrible as many of you hope or believe. Let's say he is Alex for right now, I'll take that with an improved ground game and guys not named Thomas and Sanders contributing as threats in the passing game.

Meh, I can see Denver slowly deteriorate since they lost a HOF QB, the best defensive coach in football, and have a new Head Coach. They will still carry some success, but it's a matter of time before things go below .500.

And Elway better pull his head out of his ass with drafting, or they will turn into the Herm/Pioli Chiefs within a few years.
