Dayton Moore Sez: NO PORN for you!!!

That's weird. Alex Gordon has been jacking off for the entire season...

http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2017/08/30/...f-pornography/

Yesterday, following the news breaking of Danny Duffy‘s DUI arrest, Royals general manager Dayton Moore met the press. That was not surprising, obviously, as teams will always issue statements and speak out following such incidents. Also not surprising: Moore saying that the Royals talk to their players about the risks of drugs and alcohol, which all responsible organizations do.

He expanded on the level of outreach the Royals make with respect to players and “the ills of society,” to use Moore’s words. And at one point he went into an area I don’t believe anyone expected he might go:

“(We’re) very transparent about things that happen in our game, not only with drugs and alcohol. We talk about pornography, and the effects of what that does to the minds of players and the distractions, and how that leads to abuse of — domestic abuse — to abuse of women. How it impacts relationships — we talk about a lot of things. And I don’t mind sharing with you.”

I read that last night and was frankly surprised that a team prioritizes such a thing. To be sure, I don’t have a strong opinion on it. I just wonder whether it’s the best use of the club’s time given how unclear that subject happens to be, even among experts.

On the one hand, it’s laudable that Moore is concerned about domestic abuse and abuse of women. On the other hand, the studies regarding the link between pornography and such violence are a hot mess, lacking any sort of consensus. The entire area of study is laden with bias and counter-bias and confirmation bias and confusing meta-analysis and morality and politics from both the left and the right, making it extraordinarily hard to come up with even basic conclusions on the matter. As such, I don’t know how an employer like the Royals could talk to its employees about the porn-violence connection in any effective and actionable way.

I've been watching porn for as long as I can remember and I only beat my wife when she deserves it.
Dayton More is an idiot and, if he was a woman, I'd punch her.

BWillie 08-30-2017 10:22 AM

Good lord Dayton.

BWillie 08-30-2017 10:23 AM

I honestly think porn is probably helpful for the crazies out there to get their fix, instead of going out committing sexual assaults & other impulse crimes. I don't think it is a cure, but I think it probably may mitigate some of their urges.

Of course I could be wrong, but I feel like I read a psychological study about it years ago.

It leads to domestic violence? Is he ****ing reeruned?

I think the answer is clearly: Yes

WhawhaWhat 08-30-2017 10:31 AM

I remember hearing this while I was driving home during the press conference and was like "WTF is he talking about?".

cosmo20002 08-30-2017 10:36 AM

Maybe being distracted by porn explains the Royals performance the last few weeks.
Alex Gordon has obviously been hooked on porn for a couple seasons now.

Does everyone know that Dayton Moore was the name of a pornstar....maybe I watch too much porn.

Garcia Bronco 08-30-2017 10:41 AM

Now...to the OP...we are the most sexually repressed nation on the planet (thanks Baptists/Puritans). Porn is actually helping us heal ourselves of our sexual repression. Now I guess that all depends on the porn you are watching, if you're watching dominantion porn...then I guess you have a violent sexual streak, but that's going to exist regardless of porn.

Perineum Ripper 08-30-2017 11:09 AM

Not watching porn has made the team forget how to score

I like to beat my meat like I beat my women...vigorously.

RippedmyFlesh 08-30-2017 11:13 AM

Porn is the methadone of sex.

Rain Man 08-30-2017 11:18 AM

If baseball was more interesting to watch, maybe people wouldn't watch so much porn.

KCrockaholic 08-30-2017 11:39 AM

He really tells the players that watching porn leads to domestic abuse?

ChiefsCountry 08-30-2017 12:17 PM

There is more kinds of domestic abuse than just the Tyreek Hill style.

Prison Bitch 08-30-2017 12:24 PM

Porn doesn't make me abuse women.

Political candidates do.

gblowfish 08-30-2017 12:28 PM

Cleveland certainly gave the whole team a facial last weekend...

MVChiefFan 08-30-2017 12:37 PM

This is why no one is going to re-sign. :cuss:

sully1983 08-30-2017 12:49 PM

nah porn is pretty great . I esp love the Japanese porn. Some of it can be really funny too .

Nickel D 08-30-2017 01:35 PM

Dayton strongly encourages the players to avoid porn but, if they do view it, to always use a designated masterbator.

Marcellus 08-30-2017 01:37 PM

As if it weren't hard enough for the Royals to sign free agents before this became common knowledge.

gblowfish 08-30-2017 01:58 PM

From TMZ Sports:

Kendra Lust has a huge bone to pick with K.C. Royals G.M. Dayton Moore -- claiming the baseball honcho is dead wrong about linking porn to domestic violence.

Lust -- AVN's reigning "MILF Performer of the Year" award winner -- came out swinging hard against Moore ... claiming she's sick of people blaming adult videos for their problems without a shred of evidence.

"In all honesty, I think that porn helps keep people's relationships healthy," Lust says.

"It helps keep [people] safe from maybe going out and being unfaithful to their spouse ... it helped my life a lot."

Lust slams Moore's insinuation that porn is dangerous like booze and drugs as a "cop out" -- and says he needs to support it ... instead of demonizing it.

There are different kinds of porn.

There is rape porn and humiliation porn and sacrilege porn and Ivanka and Melania getting plowed by 6 Vince Wilforks. I would be concerned to know that somebody who has to be dependable is starting to go down some roads.

Baseball players are also better off if they have a good relationship with their wife or girlfriend. Really naive to say that all wives and girlfriends would have the same opinion about porn as would a porn star who does it for a living.

If momma ain't happy, ballplayer is more likely to slump.

Good thing nbcsports and TMZ and Miss Pornstar of the Year will get some ballplayers to openly speak about how much porn they consume and how much it helps them in all these neato kind of ways.

Which ballplayers have spoken up about it?

Is there a porn that will distract the players into hitting a baseball?

Mecca 08-31-2017 06:51 AM

Dayton Moore is a bit of a religious wacko and this is pretty much their standard talking point on porn.

I don't care if he personally thinks that but I'm really not sure he should be expressing that view onto the players, what if they have players who are atheists? Does he have a right to pin his views on them?

notorious 08-31-2017 06:58 AM

I've always gone by the saying,"It's better to stay quiet and be assumed an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

What he said is idiotic, and it's shocks me that he managed to get to where he is now being that stupid.

He talks about religion all the time...this is pretty much the standard evangelical talking point on porn now. I'm sure there are tons of people in the midwest that agree with him, that's how he can get away with it.

It's a completely dumbass view to have and speaks to where religion stands in being rational.

CoMoChief 08-31-2017 08:22 AM

Kendra Lust is hot though

Unbelievable ass for her age.

I don't think Dayton Moore gave a Ted talk about it.

Seems like he said one sentence at a press conference when asked what does the team do to talk to players ahead of time about not getting into different kinds of trouble.

A lot of people are going overboard with their claims that Dayton Moore went overboard.

Maybe some people who depend on porn for survival are not cut out to be major league ballplayers.

If Kendra Lust can't get some major league ballplayers on the record agreeing with her overeaction to Dayton Moore, then maybe it is time to tell her to STFU and STFD, in a nice way. Don't swing or nothing.

Here are links from both secular and Christian sites that both agree that porn affects the brain negatively permanently from a physiological/neurological perspective. Porn has the same power as heroin i.e. to what it does to the brain.

Scripture wasn't kidding either. Read below.

I Cor. 6:18 - New International Version
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

Mecca 08-31-2017 10:01 AM

Yea sugar has the effect on the brain like heroin and cocaine, does he talk to them about that too?

Demonpenz 08-31-2017 10:29 AM

don't have to be concerned with domestic violence with The Royals. They can't beat anyone.

All of those shitty biased sources are misrepresenting actual science. Equating porn to heroin is just flat absurd. The actual science says that issues with pornography are rooted in one's personal views of the subject, and not the actual existence of the subject itself.

Quote:

It turns out that among porn viewers, the amount of porn each subject consumed had nothing to do with his or her mental state. What mattered most, Twohig found, was whether the subjects tried to control their sexual thoughts and desires. The more they tried to clamp down on their urge for sex or porn, the more likely they were to consider their own pornography use a problem. The findings suggest that suppressing the desire to view pornography, for example, for moral or religious reasons, might actually strengthen the urge for it and exacerbate sexual problems. It’s all about “personal views and personal values,” Twohig says. In other words, the effects of pornography—positive or negative—have little to do with the medium itself and everything to do with the person viewing it.

On the subject of brains, there was some TV show on last night about a kid who was born with only 2 percent of a brain. They showed brain scans and he basically had nothing inside his skull. I thought, "Well that's going to be a boring show" and turned to it out of morbid curiosity. (I hate the TV freak shows, but hey, I'm a human with flaws. Don't think less of me.)

The show sucked me in. Instead of dying or being a vegetable, the kid's brain actually started growing, and he started developing intellectually. By age 3 or so, he was up to something like 20 percent of a physical brain, but with a completely different physical structure. It looked like it was growing from the outside in, starting at his skull. Looking at the kid, you wouldn't necessarily know that anything was amiss. He was a bit behind developmentally, but it didn't seem like much. He was able to say some words and understand them, and when they said something like, "Touch your nose", he could do it.

The most fascinating part of this is that he's learning, but he doesn't possess the physical parts of the brain that are traditionally associated with that learning. Those parts of the brain are completely missing. But other parts of his growing brain are wiring themselves to serve those purposes.

The question in everyone's mind was what happens next. Will the kid's brain keep growing, and will he have the developmental ceiling of a normal adult or will he plateau at some point? And will he eventually end up with a full brain that's wired completely differently than normal?

It was pretty amazing stuff.
