Let's give them Cairo!
|
And now he's released.

Well that was quick.
|
I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers gave him a run.
|
Surprised they didn't at least wait to see if they could get something for him?
|
If we didn't have Ragland, I'd think about it. No point really now, though.

Why?

Is Bowman still playing at a All Pro level?
|
Id make an offer. Our run D leaves a lot to be desired.

Sentiment, I guess, but I would love to see Bowman added to the KC roster. I don't even know what precipitated this; I haven't really followed SF ball lately.
If he's healthy, and his ego isn't asking for top dollar on a 2 yr deal? Do it. (unless his skills have diminished that rapidly? but it didn't seem to be the case, as others are unhappy when skimming their forums) |

Do we really trust that DJ will stay healthy and that Ragland will hold up? I mean, we're all in right? And if for no other reason than to keep him off a roster like NE/Pit/Den?

He's done
Pass |

I remember a replay weeks ago this year of him clicking and closing, and the announcers were gushing over his ability to still do so, after coming back from injury. If he can stay healthy, whatever team that adds him will likely get a very good ILB... with a huge chip on his shoulder to kick ass.
|
You never know, he could sign up considering we seem to be a strong SB contender. Get him on a cheap rest of the year deal, he get's a ring and gets paid by someone else.

Bring him in. Great player, great leader. Perfect in the 3-4.

Would he give us the option of keeping Zombo off the field?
|
sign him cral
|
Doesn't he have to pass the waiver wire first?

Is there anything more pointless than leading a terrible defense in tackles? |

The way players are dropping all over the league, it wouldn't be a terrible idea. He was an all-pro two years ago. It might not be a bad time to go "all in"...
I think the Packers/Raiders go after him... |
A 1-year deal then can go whever he wants at the end of the season. He gets to win and go to he playoffs and gives us injury protection and more leadership. I wonder if he would be willing.
I bet he is better than Ragland for the rest of THIS season. |
I haven't watched him in like....forever, so i can't speak on his game. If the Chiefs think he's a fit then bring it on. I'd certainly support it (and then call for his cut if he looks like shit)
|
I'd bring him in in a heartbeat. Dude can still play at a high level and will give us more than the other scrub ILBs on the team.

Ragland, Eligwe and KPL aren't "scrubs". JFC. |

I know I know. I still hear idiots that think Mike Mazlowski was good because he led the 32nd ranked defense in tackles and gave hundreds and hundreds of yards up to any tight end, halfback, and even full back he could not cover. That was in 2002, when he broke the team record for total tackles in a season. I guess he did his job eh? Bowman was an elite player unlike Maz, and I don't know how he's doing. I just know that 'he's getting sum tacklez!" isn't impressive. |
Can anyone tell me why Bowman was cut from a terrible defense? I really don't know.
Three days ago Shanahan was insisting he was still the starter. I get the impression that he was put on the block, took it personally, and refused to practice or suit up for the team. |

The report is that Reuban Foster is the guy and Bowman requested to be released.
|
49ers run defense is actually good -- 8th overall -- and would be lower if their passing defense didn't allow so many sustained drives and had they not sucked on containment against Marlon Mack and the Colts. Bowman anchors the run defense, but the containment issues were not his fault. It was Caradine going out with an injury, and Armistead failing to set the edge.
The criticisms I've heard about Bowman is that his pass defense is not where they want it to be....which I think is perhaps fair and unfair. Their pass defense needs work, and is a bit weak with Reid out and fairly young, okay corners. Teams that need run defense help would be helped by Bowman. |

Bowman would be an instant upgrade over Ragland, but the team isn't in a position to spend money on a rental at ILB.

He's coming fresh off an Achilles year. Anyone remember how rusty DJ looked the first half season when he came back?

Guy has the same athleticism and strength as DJ used to and he's a solid tackler. I would not be surprised if he's our future at ILB. |

It’s crazy that we are so stacked at even positions like ILB that KC should pass. On Bowman based strictly on talent and development.

It's over he's done |
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent ILB Navorro Bowman is expected to sign with a new team "no later than Monday."
It is not a surprise considering the 49ers said several teams were interested in a trade before they decided to release the linebacker on Friday. The Raiders and Patriots are two contenders who could use some help at linebacker. Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Oct 14 - 11:17 AM |
