Alzheimers is a horrible way to die. Who you are/were is gone and your family must see you slowly die and not remember anything from your life or who your family or friends were.

Sad stuff. One of my first favorite bands.

I love the old videos from the Back in Black album of him with that giant white guitar.

RippedmyFlesh 11-18-2017 09:40 AM

RIP Malcom. There is nothing like driving on the highway to hell with AC/DC blaring in the background cranked up all the way. Visceral is the only way to describe AC/DC.You could feel it.

GloucesterChief 11-18-2017 09:48 AM

64 is pretty young. Damn.

BlackHelicopters 11-18-2017 09:53 AM

That surprises most people. Most think only old people get Alzheimer's.

Actually, there are a lot of people here who care, asshole.

AC/DC was always one of my all-time favorite bands. I'm sooo glad I finally got to see them in concert a few years ago.

RIP Malcom

Frazod 11-18-2017 10:24 AM

Yeah, they're amazing in concert. So much energy, plus all the props AND they're really good on top of it. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

RIP Malcolm :(

DaneMcCloud 11-18-2017 10:51 AM

The poor guy has been sick for several years but this is still sad.

His older brother, George, who had a big part in AC/DC’s sound, passed a few weeks ago, too.

RIP to both.

AssEaterChief 11-18-2017 10:53 AM

I grew up on this stuff.

Dementia at 64…what a horrible way to go.

RIP

Yeah, the energy. I was amazed with Angus. In his mid 50's and NEVER slowed down. I only with I could have seen them with Bon Scott.

64, same age as my dad when he died, its entirely too young in this day and age, and its reeeally too young for dementia... have to wonder if drugs played a role in such an early case of that

Gotta love him and the whole AC/DC gang, they never ever changed their stripes to fit with the times... they knew what they liked and did well, and stuck to it

RIP, Malcolm

Dementia can be enhanced or accelerated by heavy drinkers - at least I've always heard that.

My favorite band of all time. Nobody (not even Iommi) wrote as many great riffs as Malcolm Young.

2 rock shirts my son has always had, AC/DC and Pink Floyd.

The difference being 83 (pretty damn good life), Alzheimer's (totally stole his life) and David Cassidy, raging alcoholic that wouldn't seek treatment.

One of these things is not like the other.

I've listened to a ton of both of those bands thanks to my Dad. Pink Floyd is and always will be my favorite band, and I've just jammed a ton of AC/DC as well.

Really sucks to see what are essentially my dad's heroes all get old and drop off, especially dementia of all things. Such is life, I think I will listen to some AC/DC here tonight. I'll go the Bon Scott route.

Gadzooks 11-19-2017 01:24 AM

He was the epitome of a rhythm guitarist and wrote some of the greatest R'n'R riffs of all time. He'll be missed. RIP.

Not a bad tune. That album actually had some truck at the time. And yeah, I owned it on cassette too....:D

I watched a pretty good documentary on AC/DC a few weeks ago and was really impressed with Malcom's takes on the bands history.
RIP and peace to the Young family.

Saw them in Germany on the Those About to Rock tour... Had the big bell, had the the cannons..unbelievable show.

Shoot to Thrill will always be one of my favs

ps always respected how they performed on stage the same way every time..bass and rythym guitar always static.

This is my favorite performance of Rosie. Mainly because of how Angus has to deal with a broken guitar string:

Piss off dipshit. I would argue the majority of people in general like AC/DC. It's been a sad ending for a great band.

LiveSteam 11-19-2017 12:58 PM

Bummer.
I lived on Bon Scotts AC/DC as a young teenager. Their was no other band. Never was a big fan of Brian Johnson.
Overdosed on you. Far and away my favorite AC/DC lick.

Probably one of the most underrated musicians of his time. Dude gave them so much bounce to their sound.
