If we had started 1-4 would Alex have a job?

And if the answer to that is “no,” why should it be any different now.

Start Mahomes now.

ptlyon 11-20-2017 03:51 PM

Yes he would, and will.

Dayze 11-20-2017 03:51 PM

don't worry. Andy knows he's gotta do better. and that's on him.

so, we got this.

Best22 11-20-2017 03:52 PM

Not if he played like this

The reason it's different is sample size and "credibility." The first few weeks built "credibility" that he could succeed in 2017. He has 18 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, yards.

So it's all sample size relative to the rest of the season (4 terrible performances in 10 games vs. 4 terrible performances in 5 games) and the built up "credibility" he gained from the first few explosive weeks of 2017.

So I think it'll take more poor performances before he's benched, possibly as soon as Buffalo

ARROW2 11-20-2017 03:52 PM

Go ahead and bench him, he will be OK. **** his feelings.

Pasta Little Brioni 11-20-2017 03:52 PM

But he didn't,sooo...It sucks, but they aren't making a move up two games.

Hog's Gone Fishin 11-20-2017 03:52 PM

What a great thread! I'm going to read every post forever.

In58men 11-20-2017 03:53 PM

We’ll be fine

The Franchise 11-20-2017 03:53 PM

Yes because:

1. Defense
2. Offensive line
3. No running game
4. Shitty WRs.

KCrockaholic 11-20-2017 03:57 PM

Alex got comfortable again. He played like he had a job to lose early in the season, but after all the MVP talk, he let off the reigns and went back to old shit.

Not sure about this. Given his 12 year s***ty history it is more likely that we caught NE and Philly at the right time. Those rematches are going to be lopsided. Ds were surprised by Hunt, once they bottled him up Alex folded.

There was no guarantee of playing in the SB despite a 5-0 start. Alex should have known that anything short of a SB berth meant that he would be gone. So why suddenly get all comfortable and then regress? Just one explanation - He is the same with 5-0 being a huge fluke.

"Are going to be?"

We ain't seeing philly again this year

DaneMcCloud 11-20-2017 04:13 PM

I have no idea but in the Facebook "A Team" video, Terez and Mellinger said that Mahomes takes 3 snaps a week.

3 snaps.

They go on to say that if the Chiefs do move to Mahomes, it'll signal that Hunt, Reid and Veach are giving up on the season, which will completely piss off Justin Houston and other vets.

I don't agree but it's an interesting perspective.

Pasta Little Brioni 11-20-2017 04:14 PM

Regression to the mean

BryanBusby 11-20-2017 04:15 PM

That's idiotic on multiple levels.

That they would give him that few snaps and would let a player sway their decision.

BlackHelicopters 11-20-2017 04:17 PM

Yes. Mahomes is a bust.

Justin Houston and the old bum vets like DJ and Hali can be pissed if they want. This team isn't winning shit anyways whether it's Alex in there this year or Mahomes.

Really? How do they expect him to enter a game if Alex takes a hit to the head?
Or did they mean 3 snaps with the starting unit?

Maybe a pissed off Houston can beat a shitty RT.

Red Dawg 11-20-2017 04:25 PM

Alex no chance of losing his job unless he's injured or we are eliminated. Fans don't run shit at Arrowhead. They trotted Matty C. out there long after we all wanted him gone.

Tamba Hali sure will be pissed. If he quits, then where does that leave the team?

The wind was a factor, but only because of his cuck arm. Sheli too against our shit defense

Kind of weird perspective, especially considering that having Smith being your starting QB is essentially the same thing as giving up on your season.

Just watched this. Goddamn do the Chiefs not want this guy on the field this year. Terez pretty much confirmed that Pat is not playing unless Alex gets hurt.

I trust that he talks to people in the know and 3 snaps a practice pretty much says it all.

This season is going to die a slow treaturous death.

It does not make sense to me either. But I do think that if Alex lays another egg against Buffalo and the Chiefs lose again, and if LAC or the Faiders win again to pull within a game of the division--the heat will be on, especially if Alex fails to get any TDs against a Buffalo defense that has been torched the last two weeks.

They are too close to the problem to see the big picture.

EPodolak 11-20-2017 09:54 PM

Pat takes 3 snaps?

Smith needs a worried mind to play decent, that sure won't cause it.

What is this IF shit?

007 11-21-2017 12:39 AM

yep, they would still be trotting Alex out there.

Chiefshrink 11-21-2017 01:17 AM

Depends on how we got to 1-4. If the offense and AS are putting up points enough to win and it was all on our defense then no.

But that is not the case is it ??:D

Didn't he start off 0-5 a few years ago?

Didn't he have a season where he threw 0 TDs to WRs?

Andy loves him sum Smith

I'm sure Alex Smith is a great guy, so it pains me that I hate him so much. But I can't stand to see him on this team any longer.

Didn’t have future QB on the bench then. Key difference.

Exactly and with a 2 game lead over a division that you should now easily win... realizing you're likely at best a 3 seed, just make the move now. Alex is not the future, let the rookie get experience - he may have solid success early. Give it a shot.
