Should Mahomes be the starting QB tomorrow for the Bills game?

Poll.

TLO 11-25-2017 05:37 PM

The time of Mahomes is upon us, gentleman.

Hammock Parties 11-25-2017 05:38 PM

Smith is finished as a playoff-viable QB in this league.

So, yes.

But, Chuefs.

Dayze 11-25-2017 05:42 PM

Yes.

This team is doing nothing in the playoffs....assuming they even make the playoffs.
Hell, the play calling we have for our 13yr vet looks like play calling for a rookie anyway.

Get a head start on next year.
Any vets on the team that don’t like it can get ****ed.

AssEaterChief 11-25-2017 05:44 PM

Absolutely.

This team has already reached its ceiling with Smith as the starter.

staylor26 11-25-2017 05:44 PM

Yes. This team isn’t winning a SB with Alex and Mahomes (accompanied by Revis) can provide a potential spark.

At the very least, it would be nice for him to get some experience before 2018 also.

Sweet Daddy Hate 11-25-2017 05:46 PM

Sure, why not.

(It wasn't a question you ****ing Smithian tools, so shut yer yaps)

BigCatDaddy 11-25-2017 05:48 PM

You arent going to "ruin" Mahomes and Shitty isnt bringing home the Lombardi. No reason not to start Patty Superbowl.

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2017 05:59 PM

im going to go the ultra conservative route here and say no....

if alex turtles up and continues to play like old alex, we can yank him at half time or the next game or whatever

were not going to lose with alex or with mahomes, IMO....

Once we start mahomes theres no going back, so theres no need to do this for this particular game....but....SHORT short leash

MMXcalibur 11-25-2017 06:05 PM

Yes, the offense is limited and the defense isn't saving Alex's bacon anymore.

Start Mahomes to:

a) get started for next season

b) see if there's the small chance he sparks the offense like DeShaun Watson did and gives us hope we can go toe-to-toe with PIT/NE in the playoffs.

To be honest, I'm kind of "bleh" on the Chiefs for the rest of the season because I know how this Alex-led shitshow is going to end in the playoffs (if we make it). Starting Mahomes revitalizes my interest instantaneously.

Yes, Pat should be out there tomorrow winning hearts and minds. Instead we'll get the pleasure of watching Alice panic out there and smith himself.

TwistedChief 11-25-2017 07:56 PM

I realize I'll get flamed for this, but is the only caliber we accept from Alex Smith as our QB the early season version where he was a presumptive MVP front runner? This was literally a time when Tigger and Clay were skipping together on the Plaza singing showtunes. There must be some middle ground.

I am insanely excited for Mahomes but I'm delusional enough to want to give Alex the ability to atone for that Giants game. He fails tomorrow and my hope fails with him. I just tink he's a guy who consistently finds the law of averages and given his last few performances, the arrow is pointing up.

I think of the last five games he was solid in Oakland, average against Denver, and a cluster**** against Pittsburgh, Dallas, and NY.

But the games before that he was playing at a consistently higher level than he had in years past. I recall even you acknowledging that.

In aggregate, he's probably about the same QB as in prior years with higher highs and lower lows. If you want to read that optimistically, it means he's trying. If you want to read that pragmatically, he's trying but he can't make it work.

Only on CP is 14/31 "average."

The problem is that he is getting worse against inferior competition...he is done.

Meh. He's screened just as mediocre in past years against equally inferior competition and then bounced back to show traces of potential. I'm not willing to sell him this low nor was I ever willing to buy him earlier when CP was littered with delusional threads about our trading him for a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Bowser 11-25-2017 09:01 PM

I voted no because I think this is Alex's year good or bad, but if Mahomes did jump in there I'd be glued to the Chiefs again. Plus we still have a game and a half lead in spite of our best efforts to hand it off to someone else. So if we lose tomorrow and Alex looks like he's looked the past month in doing so, I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see Mahomes next week.

But as for tomorrow against Buffalo - no.

Priest31kc 11-25-2017 11:20 PM

Yes. Like others have said, playing Mahomes is really the only thing that will really get me excited about the Chiefs again this year.

I'd honestly rather play Mahomes and go 2-4 and miss the playoffs than go 5-1 with Alex and go one and done again. But I highly doubt that would even happen, Mahomes obviously has the talent to do way more than Alex, which is why we drafted him, so I really think Mahomes would atleast win the same amount of games down the stretch, if not more.

I'm sooooooo hoping Alex looks like shit again tomorrow. But, it's the Bills and he'll probably look just good enough and won't lose the game and we'll probably win another ugly one at home.

If Alex plays like shit and we still win, I think he keeps his job another week.

If he plays like shit and we lose, it could be time.

Drinking? The Chiefs have no margin for error. The chargers are really damn good right now. Their defense behind Gus Bradley is elite and Joey bosa is an absolute terror. Melvin Gordon is a stud. Solid qb in rivers. Good receivers in Keenan Allen, mike Williams, and Benjamin. It's a scary team. Rivers always finds ways to muck it up but make no mistake that this is one of the scariest teams in football right now.

O.city 11-25-2017 11:50 PM

If the chiefs lose which I'd guess is pretty possible.

I figure they'll win tomorrow though

The chiefs at 7-4 and the chargers at 5-6

The chargers at that point would have to basically win out and have the chiefs lose 2 to tie

It shouldn't be a problem but it's the chiefs here so who knows

Barret 11-26-2017 01:28 AM

I do want to see Mahomes and want him to rock the house but I voted no for a couple of reasons.

1: I think there needs to be enough rope given to Alex so he can go ahead and hang him self. Not literally, but you still have Alexsexuals out there that are blaming the O-line or the Defense or the wind for the current losing streak. By him playing at home in front of a crowd of regular fans who are not at the higher standard and knowledge level that Chiefsplanet is and him laying a goose egg will force the regular fan base to finally own up to the fact a change is needed.

2: Andy Reid I thought had called Alex out last week slightly? I thought I read that somewhere. IF he did then he needs to play Alex and see how he responds. Again more rope here.

3: This game, just like the Giants game, should be a win for any regular QB. The Bills are going through a QB controversy and they were in the playoff hunt until the coach thought starting a rookie to give the team a spark would help. 5 interceptions later and Tyrod is back starting again. If the Chiefs offense can not put points on the board and this is another loss to an easy win team then the voices will start getting louder for Smiths removal.

4: The Chargers are coming on but currently the Chiefs have a win over them. A loss to the Bills and even a Loss to the Jets the next week would cement the fact that Smith is not the Answer. This would completely remove the cushion the Chiefs have on the Chargers. I would like to see Mahomes start at home against the Raiders on December 10th. The Chiefs are not getting a Bye even if they can make it to the playoffs. Someone has to represent the AFC West and starting Mahomes against the Raiders at home allows him 3 home games to right the ship. Oakland then the Chargers and then Miami. Then go to Denver which is another win able game with a good QB at the helm. This would give the Chiefs a 10 - 6 record and 2 wins over the Chargers should give them the AFC West title.

bigjosh 11-26-2017 01:36 AM

my biggest fear in this game is that the defense gives up a shit ton of yards to tyrod and mccoy, but only 20 points or so, and we lose by three. But this causes all of the true fans to say "Its the defenses fault we lost" Then we are stuck with another week of more alex smith white knighting because the offense was "fine." "they only lost because of that one kelce drop" or "they would have scored more points if the offensive line could have protected Alex better"

I am sick of hearing that shit every week.

TimeForWasp 11-26-2017 02:41 AM

My way of thinking is, we would be better with Mahomes. So the idea of waiting until we are out of it is unfair to Mahomes. he would make us better now, while we are in the running.

Based on what?

I think mahomes has all the potential in the world but alex hasn’t lost the team yet. Mahomes will get the keys no question next year why rush?

Why rush? For this year. Why wait for next year? I think Mahomes can take us further this year than Alex can.

Rasputin 11-26-2017 04:03 AM

It would look better for Reid if he makes the switch and Mahomes excels than for Smith to go down with an injury and Mahomes comes in and excels torching defenses.

Why wait till next year? Mahomes has half the year watching Smith tank the season. It's time to give our future a chance and make our future now.
