XFL to make a comeback
HE HATE ME!!!!!!!!
https://deadspin.com/vince-mcmahon-m...xfl-1821354064 Looks like a landing spot for Kap and Manzy. |
They will get squished like a bug just like last time.....

NFL needs a minor league anyway.
|
Doomed to fail, again
|
You can't trust the officiating to call a game even and fair.
Does the above comment pertain to the NFL or XFL? |
Can't wait to see the snowflakes cry.
I hope it succeeds. The NFL needs a kick in the pants. |

As long as everyone is properly standing for the anthem, this thing can't help but be a massive hit.

TV ratings are down in both the NFL and college football, so clearly people are craving more football.
|
They should play with the same rules the NFL had in the 1970s.

I would think that all the people who hate Goodell and players that kneel would jump at the chance to go to another league.

I hope it does well. We need a decent starter league. They should do what they did last time with innovation but go the other route. Better rules, get rid of helmets and padding. Rugby type pads and helmets. No hits to the head.
|
XFL had a lot of good ideas the first time. Today MLS stadiums are the perfect size. The biggest problem was they rushed the start and didn't give enough practice time for the teams to gel.
You aren't going to get NFL ratings or attendance but you can have a solid product that could produce some decent tv ratings for a slower time in sports. |
Apparently they filed a patent on UFL United football league
|
Can't we just have the women in lingerie league back?

Vince McMahon sells $100 million of WWE stock as XFL reboot plan continues
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 21, 2017, 6:07 PM EST Getty Images Rumors that Vince McMahon wants to reboot the XFL are officially more than just rumors. Today the WWE revealed to the Securities and Exchange Commission that McMahon has sold about $100 million worth of stock, and that he did so “primarily to fund a separate entity from the Company, Alpha Entertainment LLC, which Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football.” Translation: McMahon wants to try to create a rival pro football league again. And now he has enough cash on hand to give it a go. There had already been plenty of smoke around McMahon wanting to reboot the XFL, which crashed and burned after one season in 2001. Most of that smoke was about McMahon securing trademarks related to the XFL, trademarks that he previously abandoned because he thought he was out of the pro football business. But securing a trademark is a far cry from selling off a huge amount of stock in the business McMahon has spent a lifetime building. This is a move that indicates McMahon very much wants to run a pro football league again, and will spend a lot of his own money to make it happen. McMahon has said nothing publicly about his plans for a new league or when it could start play. He announced his plans for the first version of the XFL in early 2000, and that league began play in early 2001. So perhaps McMahon will announce XFL 2.0 in early 2018, and play will begin in early 2019. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...lan-continues/ |

DEMONS!!!
I hope the xfl comes back.... The biggest problem was the lack of a consistent game day........ I still think they should do fridays or saturdays, even if high school or college is competing. I dunno about a week day..... Either that or do sundays and start the season in march and have the championships in june. |

I hope the XFL comes back and steals a ton of NFL thunder. Obviously the household names wouldn't be the same. But there would be a few that we would all know. But this is mainly because I think Vince McMahon is a ****ing legend. I love him. One of the best businessmen to ever live. He's a GOAT.

I'll legitimately watch the XFL when it returns.
If Vince wants to make it work this time, his first act should be to put teams in San Diego, Oakland and St. Louis. |
Meh. Vince McMahon doesn't have a chance if he tries to **** with the NFL. He's ****ing fantastic at out carneying his competition in wrestling, but with that much of a disadvantage he doesn't have a shot.

Play with no helmets, and there's no such thing as a personal foul.

I'd love to see it overtake the NFL, and if Vince plays his cards right and times his moves carefully, it potentially could.
The single most important thing to do first, is to decide if it's going to be scripted like WWF, or a "real sport" like the NFL is (cough) supposed to be (cough). If he's going to script it - let us know!!! Don't piss up our legs and tell us it's raining like Roger Goodell - we hate that, it insults our intelligence, and we're sick and ****ing tired of it., Personally, I'd rather watch an admittedly scripted XFL, than the NFL in it's "play cannot be challenged because I say Mariotta was gong forward even though he wasn't" current state. Conversely, if he's going to tell us both teams have an equal unbiased chance to win every game, call the games evenly. Don't allow NE and Pitt defenses to pick up fumbles and run them back while you instruct your refs to blow fumbles dead when KC SD and Jax defenses force them. Once you start this shit, we'll see it, and call you on it, and turn the TV off and talk with each other on the net about what crock your show it. The difference is, you won't have the millions of NFL sycophants clobbering to defend your BS the way Roger Goodell has idiot Chiefs Fans actually parroting "duh Triplette just made a bad call when he lied to millions and said Mariotta was going forward, herpity derp" Just don't piss up our legs and tell us it's raining Vince, and you should be fine. The NFL hasn't left us very dry these last few years. |
Did a test run live stream. Heres the new logo.

If Vince learns from his mistakes from the first go around, it may do just fine.
The first XFL run was insanely rushed and not well thought out. Also, they tried to make the broadcasts way too adult and storyline-related. That was back when WWF was in its R-rated Attitude era. Now they present a more PG product so I imagine the XFL will go in that direction more than the first run. It can be a nice alternative to watch during the NFL offseason. |

Go Ermines
Truthfully-more reboots please. Next thing that will be remade is Murphy Brown. wait..... |
I'd like to see someone start an alternate basketball league with wider courts, longer courts, and higher rims. The NBA and NCAA are just boring to me now because the players have developed to a point where the courts are too small. Everyone runs the same offense and there's little diversity in play. I think if you widened the courts and raised the rims you'd bring back the inside game and have a lot more diversity in style of play.
|
Tebow, Manziel, and Kaepernick could be starting QBs. LMAO
|
I don't have any delusions that this could work but it couldn't come at a better time. While the NFL fan experience is built by a bunch of suits with no imagination, will be interesting to see a league that actually connects with their fans. Especially at a time when millennials are so disconnected from the sport.
The NFL should be rum more like an entertainment option, not a business. And I think the xfl will get that. They only survived one year and yet are responsible for a lot of the innovation in today's NFL. |

I predict that even if this gets off the ground, it will fail spectacularly.
The original XFL was a joint venture between WWE and NBC, whom at the time, didn't have any NFL Broadcast Rights. Finding a broadcast partner, when NFL ratings have seen a downturn recently, isn't going to be easy. McMahon has stated that "We want someone who does not have any criminality associated with them whatsoever. In the XFL, even if you have a DUI, you will not play in the XFL," McMahon said. "If Tim Tebow wants to play, he could very well play.", which will make it much more difficult to find a talent pool, especially since the NFL expanded their Practice Squads to 10 from 8. I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL countered by allowing more PS players and expanding the Game Day roster. |

I heard that KC will be getting an XFL team because of all the people here who say they won't watch Mahomes since Reid is still calling plays and Sutton is our DC....
Look for Geno Smith to be the QB in KC for the XFL.... |

It's truly an uphill battle. The NBA is growing in popularity, MLB baseball ratings are good and nothing can compete against the NFL from August to February. If the rationale for lower Broadcast Network Ratings is "overexposure", the XFL won't benefit at all. Plus, as we all know, the quality of play will suck. |

NBC also lost tens of millions on the XFL. |
I hope they encourage the massive hits the NFL is pussying out on.
The NFL has over-featured the offense. Make this a showcase for defenders absolutely raping people. Receivers should be absolutely terrified to go over the middle in the XFL. |
Broadcast rights could go to an online service. Hulu. Netflix. Twitter HBO.
I will do what I did the first time. Watch week 1. Quit watching. |

Also, for a guy like Kaepernick, what's the incentive? He's still worth tens of millions and I seriously doubt that at age 32, he'll want to play for $15k a game or less. McMahon is funding the league with $100 million dollars for 8 teams. After staffers, GM's, a 40 man roster for each team, etc., the paychecks will be less than what NFL Practice Squad players are paid. |
Ohh boy.......

If the XFL is "staying out of political and social issues," wouldn't the logical thing be to not play the anthem before games at all?
Saying that you're going to stay out of things like that in one breath but then saying that players will be REQUIRED to stand in another breath seems kinnnnda like a contradiction. Maybe its just me.. Inb4 the people saying the anthem is not a political thing.. you would have been right about that a few years ago, but it is absolutely a politicized issue at the moment. |
