Mike Tomlin
Rumors out of Pittsburgh are that some of their board members will be lobbying for a coaching change
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...aching-change/ Would you be open to Tomlin as our DC if that happens? |
Quote:
But there isn't a chance in hell he's taking a DC job. |
He wouldn't take a demotion. He would not have a hard time finding another HC gig.
|
He won’t be out of a job for long.
|
As a DC? no. As a head coach? Hell yes.
|
Tomlin has been to 2 Superbowls since being the coach of the Steelers, winning 1, and you think hes going to take a demotion if he is fired by the Steelers?
I think I speak for everyone when I say ROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL |
And yet Chiefs give Andy Reid extension and keep Sutton....
|
Most of the teams with HC opening are going with offensive guys to groom their young QBs. I agree, it’d be hard to see him take a demotion but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see him wait for the right opportunity and be a DC for a few years at the right place
|
Terry Bradshaw was right about this guy being a cheerleader. Do not want. We've already got a HC that won't use common sense when it comes to basic football.

Fire Reid's big ol' butt and bring Tomlin in for a look.

Tomlin for DC Revis for Secondary coach!!1!

If Tomlin is fired, which I wouldn't fault the Steelers for as he can't beat the Patriots(or even get to them in this year's scenario)and his teams are never buttoned up with their talking and social media nonsense, he probably becomes the next Gruden. He's great with the media. He can go do TV for a few years and either wait for BB to retire or take an NFC job down the road. I see no scenario where he becomes a DC
|
Tomlin's not an X's and O's guy, he' more of a CEO type.
I don't think he's a fit for a coordinator position. Plus, teams like the Titans and Cardinals would line up to hire him. The Colts, too. |

His downfall is continually letting the egos of his players override what is best for the team.

CHunt is content with what Reid offers. Not every team is so complacent. |

I don't see Bob Kraft even entertaining the possibility of that. |

Any and all of those teams would be absolutely foolish to pass on a 2 time Super Bowl winner in favor of Josh ****ing McDaniels. |

Tomlin is not getting fired this year. If he did, he'd have new HC job in about an hour.

I feel like Andy has taught me that I would take the X’s and O’s coach compared to a motivator like Haley who gets outcoached. |
Tomlin is awful.

Mariotta needs to be coached up but the talent is definitely there. Any head coaching candidate should be weary of taking the Colts job. The owner is a mess, the roster is a mess, the QB may or may not be healthy, etc. The owner also consistently got in the middle of Pagano and Ryan Grigson (who was a terrible hire from the onset) but I'd be concerned that history would repeat itself. |
He should be fired if what Big Ben said today is true that he is not allowed to call his own plays or audible. I mean wtf..

If I calculated correctly, Tomlin is 8-7 when Ben isn’t starting. That’s with starting QBs Charlie Batch, Michael Vick, Dennis Dixon, and Landry Jones
-Shane Hallam |
This is why the Steelers win championships, they don't settle. They have expectations and good just isn't good enough. Wish we had that in KC

Quit being a ****ing idiot about Andy Reid. |
Behind every great QB is a coach just waiting to be given credit...

19 seasons, 0 super bowl good-enough quarterbacks developed. |
Bring him in for a look. He'd be the best looking cheerleader on the team.

His coaching in the Jags game made Andy look like a genius

The co-owners of the Steelers couldn’t give a shit about Todd Haley, who is most likely gone, regardless of Tomlin’s status. |

Its shocking to me how long Haley has survived in Pittsburgh. Big Ben hates his ass. And if I was the HC, I'd say fine Ben, lets put our heads together and get a new OC.

Haley was surely responsible for the pitch out on 4th and inches.

Ben's offense has never been the same since Haley's arrival that is for sure.

Tomlin as a DC? You crazy? Dude would get head coaching offers literally the second Pittsburgh let him go.
|
There's nobody not named Harbaugh that's a better coach on the market than Tomlin. It would be stupid to fire him just like it would be stupid to fire Reid.

He must be a horrible coach to have ONLY gone to the playoffs 7 of his 10 years there while winning a SB and competing in a second one. Oh and I am sure that Cowher is the one that put all of those people on that roster and they are all still there 10 years later. I don't like Tomlin either but at least be real about his accomplishments and ability. |

I won't pick through point by point as I don't feel like typing that dang much, but I will say I think you're giving Tomlin credit for things may have witnessed, but certainly did not accomplish. You think he actively accomplishes things, while I think he just sits there and is lucky enough for them to happen by insane plays and pure player skill. |
On the NFL Network, one of the analysts said Tomlin “is the Alex Smith of head coaches”. His cohort said, “Actually, he’s the Andy Reid of head coaches.”

16 game averages in 8 seasons before Haley: Yards: 3730 Comp %: 63.1% TD/INT: 23/14 QB Rating: 92.1 16 game averages in 6 seasons with Haley: Yards: 4556 Comp %: 65.2% TD/INT:31/14 QB Rating: 96.0 Its pretty easy to see why Haley is still around when you look at how he turned Ben into an elite QB. |
