Hahaha glad somebody has a sense of humor.

We need defense if we get back in the 1st round. Not sure who though.

No, which is why I put the "(possible)" in the thread title.

I need to focus on something other than losing Peters for a bit.

staylor26 02-23-2018 03:19 PM

I don’t even think we’re getting a 2018 1st, but if we do give me Josh Jackson, Tim Settle, Maurice Hurst, or Leighton Vander Ech

I would be pretty disappointed if they dont get a 1st. The Rams dont have a 2nd this year. Can you imagine trading Peters for at best a 3rd round pick this year and a few more lesser picks?

FloridaMan88 02-23-2018 03:23 PM

A ballhawking shutdown CB would be nice.

I watched very little college football this year, but I know that Christian Kirk is shit. Hopefully not him.

Edit: Apparently the NFL agrees. His draft stock has plummeted and no longer first round grade.

There's no way the Rams didn't give up their 1st rounder.

I mean, for ****'s sake, that's the starting point in these negotiations.

I hear you man, but at the same time it’s hard to believe we got a 1st and 3 more picks.

Frosty 02-23-2018 03:33 PM

I said it in the other thread but I hope to get Vita Vea. A pass rushing NT with a motor that never quits. Might have to trade up a little, though.

I think that a 1st, 5th and 2019 2nd rounder sounds about right.

The Rams are a team that's on the verge of contending for a Super Bowl, so they'll be picking in the bottom 3rd, if not the bottom 5, of the draft next year.

Peters replacing Johnson in that defense is easily worth a 1st rounder, #23 overall, to the Rams this year.

Peters was a 1st round pick and played above that level so yes. He's worth a 1st . actually he's worth 2 1st based on the fact he leads the league in int's and PD the last three years and is only 25 years old. If we didn't get AT LEAST a 1 and 2 we gave him away.

Dont have to give up a big deal to keep Peters for the next 4 years at below market value in AAV, unless he really falls off a cliff.

I only saw Nick Athen saying 1st and a 5th (next year) right after the trade was announced. That's the only person on twitter say it. I believe him less than I do KK.

Man! If we didn't get a first round pick for this kid i'm a bit baffled.

Coogs 02-23-2018 06:23 PM

I'd be hoping for Da'Ron Payne. He will just turn 21 in May. Two years younger than Vita Vea. Vea is likely to go earlier than Payne, so Payne may be there at 23. In 2 years, who knows. Payne may be better.

I’m going with 2018 3rd and 5th and 2019 2nd.

And teams wouldn’t pay more than that.

Edge rusher or CB would be my guess. I'll leave it to the draftniks to put a name on it.

KChiefs1 02-23-2018 06:49 PM

Depends on the player(s) we get back from the Rams.

CoMoChief 02-23-2018 06:56 PM

Gonna be super pissed off if we traded away our best defensive player who's young and on his 1st contract for anything less than a 1st rd pick. That's a Carlos Beltran level type of trade if you ask me.

Buckweath 02-23-2018 07:21 PM

It feels like the Chiefs will get the Rams 3rd round pick this year, their 2nd round pick next year and maybe some other picks.

I just cannot believe the market for an all-pro 25-year old CB would be bad enough to not garner at least a 2nd round pick. Sure, he might have big attitude problems but we are not talking about a guy who has had several off the field problems with the law. I mean the Rams traded Sammy Watkins for a 2nd round pick. Are you gonna tell be Watkins, now a free agent, was worth more than Peters?

The fact the Chiefs at one point were aiming for Robert Quinn and a pick makes me think they did think Peters had value.

For some reason, it just feels like the Chiefs are not getting a 1st round pick as few teams appeared to be interested really from what was said.

Maybe the Rams 1st round pick next year. Maybe, after all they are probably thinking they will have a really low pick next year.

There was no market. No team would trade for a player on year 4 of his rookie deal unless they believed the player would reup. Peters would only do that for a west coast team. The market was very limited.

DenverChief 02-24-2018 12:13 AM

The Rams were expected to go CB at #23. I’d bet we get their 1st and take one of the CB’s they were after
https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2017/...draft-profile/
Quote:

Currently without a second-round pick, expect the Rams to be a prime candidate to trade down from this pick in hopes of recouping some Day 2 resources. In this scenario, however, their need for a young corner to replace the likely-departing Trumaine Johnson, and the value of a talented cover man like Oliver makes too much sense to move down.

Oliver is a really solid player, boasting good size and speed for the position. He’s precisely what the Rams are looking for at cornerback, standing at 6-1, likely with sub-4.5 speed. He could step in right away in the event that Trumaine Johnson leaves in free agency, starting alongside Kayvon Webster when he returns from injury.
