Amazon Prime Video
Not sure this deserves it's own thread, but damn, there is a lot of outstanding content on Amazon. I've had it for years and never really gave it a shot. The HBO and Funny or Die catalogues alone make it worth the while. The originals are simply value added. I've been watching:
Curb Your Enthusiasm Eastbound and Down Zach Morris is Trash Things in my queue: Man in the High Castle The Tick Sneaky Pete Jack Ryan Would like to re-watch: Sopranos Between Two Ferns Justified Parks and Rec Anything you'd recommend from Prime Video? I feel like a kid in a candy shop (without the requisite time to actually enjoy all the candy...) |
Sneaky Pete kicks ass. One of my favorites.
|
I really love Bosch.
|
It was what I used to watch the Wire on. I liked their service a lot. I cancelled it when I moved. I plan signing back up soon. Decent music selection as well on there

Still nothing like some good ol' Unsolved Mysteries
|
All of Battlestar Galactica is on there.
The first two seasons of The Expanse are on there (season 3 starts on Syfy tomorrow - I think it's the best show on tv right now, including Legion). It's the right time to start Bosch, there's a new season coming out Friday. There's some good movies on there, too. I finally watched The Arrival today. |
They've got Batman: The Animated Series.
'Nuff said. |
They've also got some great classics. Bloodsport, Highlander, Total Recall, Kickboxer, Robocop, Running Man, Gremlins, all of the Indiana Jones movies, etc.
|
Isn't Goliath an Amazon Prime original? My buddy says it's good.

Same thing here ,I've had Amazon Prime for a year and never payed any attention to the movies. then I got a notice from amazon that said "Hey you Butt ****ing moron. You're paying for prime. Watch the damn movies.
So the other day I watched "jungle". Very good. I'm in. I'm stoked you started this thread! |
Been watching "The Tick" for some goofy, light hearted fun.
|
They have Batman: The Animated Series and Unsolved Mysteries. And there's a show called I Shouldn't Be Alive that I've been watching.
|
Prime Video is really cool. I use it quite a bit. Right now i been watching Sporanos again, ALF (Yep, that ALF from the late 80's) and Entourage
|
It's basically free. I mean everyone already has Amazon Prime, right? Which is worth it for the free 2 day shipping on everything all by itself. I don't even go to the store anymore. I need toilet paper? Soap? An electric skillet? It's on my porch in two days.
Oh, you wanna give me a video streaming service too? I'm in. How about music streaming and downloads? Done. Yeah, I use the crap out of it. |
So can you watch HBOs stuff without an hbo subscription? I don’t think you can with starz content.

Haven't watched season two of Sneaky Pete yet, but enjoyed S1. I also enjoyed Patriot, and Bosch. |
I like season 2 of sneaky pete even more than season 1.
|
I’m a prime member for the $100 a year postage. It’s really a threadbare service that most check out because it’s free with prime. Their originals are okay. I expect that to change now that they decided to spend $1 BILLION to bring LOTR to the small screen.

And anyway, it wouldn’t be their original content. Which my threadbare comment was referencing. |

Goddamn do I love Bosch. I’ve posted it in another thread but I can’t think of a single Titus Welliver character other than Bosch that I’ve liked. I’m not all about police procedurals. It’s the only one I watch. So on paper I shouldn’t like this noise but I can’t get enough!
|
No Jimmy O'Phelan for you?
|
the americans season 1-5 is on prime
|
Check out "Lexx"
It is the most low budget, psychotic, space series I have ever seen. Can't stop watching it. |
Two others are The Night Manager and Last Kingdom.

Holy shit you have to watch Catastrophe. It is side splittingly funny. Some of the meanest comedy I have ever seen.
|
About to start Jack Ryan
|
Hell yes.
|
Just watched The Proposition. Really good (albeit dark) movie with a freaking excellent cast.
One of the few movies I can actually recommend. Basically, a dark, revenge western set in Australia. Directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, Red Dead Redemption). John Hurt, Guy Pierce, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Emily Watson. I mean, that's one hell of an ensemble. FAX |

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is awesome.

Man in the High Castle was canceled last week. Meaning it ends after the next season.
Not a huge surprise, given how many new genre projects they have in the pipeline. Plus I'm not sure how much longer they could keep it going in its current form anyway. |

Amazon Prime is pretty damn good and is only gonna get better I think .
What I'm most looking forward to is Nicholas Winding Refn's Too Old to Die Young show. It will capture the criminal underworld of Los Angeles and I saw some brief clips of it and it looks interesting for sure. For those that do not know who Refn is , he directed Drive, Bronson and a bunch of other weird /entertaining films Apparently Amazon let Refn go wild on this one. The episodes will be roughly an hour to an hour & a half . Pretty risky imo as Refs is not everyone's cup of tea. We shall see |
Anyone a fan of the Wheel of Time books? Apparently Amazon has ordered a series of it. I'm...nervous. It doesn't seem to me that it will translate well to screen, but I guess people probably said that about Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones at one point too.

currently watching Justified, it's pretty good.
|
been watching Stargate Atlantis. I really enjoy it, good series! Now i gotta watch SG1 when this one is over, wish i would have started with SG1 first.
|
If you are in the mood for a spooky-ass movie starring a spooky-ass Joaquin Phoenix, you should check out "You Were Never Really Here".
It won a couple of awards at Cannes and it's very spooky-ass. FAX |

Finally got around to watching Goliath. Damn good show. Season 3 is coming sometime soon.
Looks like Jack Ryan and Bosch both got renewed for two seasons, so they'll both be around at least through 2020. Sneaky Pete has a 3rd season sometime this year. Man in the High Castle ends after its next season. A new series called Hanna starts tomorrow, evidently a bit different than the movie of the same name. Reviews don't look good but I'm gonna check it out anyway. |

It all depends on what you like. If you like their originals or certain shows, it’s great. For occasional movie viewing it mostly sucks. Most movies anymore cost extra even if you’re a Prime member. HD movies can be 7 or 8 bucks.

Looking forward to Jack Ryan!

I enjoyed Man in the High Castle season one, season two wasn't bad but I'm really struggling to get the motivation to get through season 3. Anyone else thinking it fell apart in the 3rd season?

I'm liking Bosch, thanks for that recommendation.
|
About halfway through the new season of Goliath and it's kind of nuts. I don't even know what I'm watching half the time.
|
Watched Season 3 of Sneaky Pete only to find out they won't' be a season 4.
Great show, one of the coolest I've seen in years. Sad to see only 3 years. |
