Just found this article while looking around and reading up on KU's new AD, Jeff Long. Hopefully, Long can find someone like a Mangino. Reading the comments on this makes me believe that Lew Perkins really helped to derail Mangino's final season and push him out. :cuss:

eh, it's not like mangina is lighting it up anywhere else right now. there's a ton of mid-major conferences and he's not even coaching in the sunbelt conference...

this is like me being mad that gary stills is cut from the team a year ago... and finding that he's out of the league. he coulda been a contendah, but he's a never-was.

I mean, as a mizzou fan, something-something-didn't-play-texas-or-ou-and-coasted-til-we-raped-you-in-his-only-great-year... :)

I'd say "yeah, not surprising." Kansas has always sucked at football.

True dat, he made KU football relevant and if they had kept him KU would still be relevant. They hated him because he came from the snyder/KSU tree.
I do think the man will end up in hell because of how he treats people but the AD should have just had a sit down with him and said "treat people right or your gone" and gave him a chance to keep them on the map.
He coached for snyder and we all know he wouldn't put up with that kind of mistreatment of players. Like him him or not he is true class.
In the end I think the stress of trying to build a perennial contender got to mangino and finished him.

Had KU not allowed the game be moved to Arrowhead, it's played in Lawrence, that season is even better than it ended up. Love of money is the root of all evil.

It was not surprising to me. I predicted KU to go 11-1 the year they played in the Orange Bowl. Mangino Magic is real.
