What to eat at the old ballgame?

So we have a lot of food threads, but do we have one about what is your favorite food to eat at the old ball game.

And before it’s commented, pussy doesn’t count.

mikeyis4dcats. 08-06-2018 09:44 AM

helmet nachos

Rain Man 08-06-2018 09:46 AM

Brats are my go-to food for my once-per-decade visit to a baseball game. I'll wash it down with a Pibb or Dr. Pepper if available.

ptlyon 08-06-2018 09:50 AM

What form of ballgame?

Edit: NM now I see it's a Royals thread.

Simply Red 08-06-2018 09:51 AM

I'd like to try a Dodger Dog - they look so good on Pinterest.

Buck night is pretty lit.

Iowanian 08-06-2018 09:52 AM

last time we went it seemed like I ate $100 bills that looked like snow cones and a lemonade for the family.

That said, anybody got 3 decent tickets for royals cubs tonight?

Find some, then find me bro. I’m above the royals bullpen tonight!!

Dog and a beer.

Why Not? 08-06-2018 10:46 AM

Went to the Dbacks game yesterday. Had 2 dogs and some chicken tenders with fries. Then peanuts. But only drank water so it still counts as healthy.

The last time I tried those there was something wrong with the helmet. It had a plasticy, chemical taste to it and it was hard to chew. Didn't sit well in my stomach either. Would not recommend.

I've never understood the fascination with putting a dozen crazy toppings and shit on a hot dog. It's still a ****ing hot dog. I mean, I like hot dogs for what they are. But overdressing them just makes it messy, it doesn't transform it into a gourmet meal...

You seem nice though..

ChiliConCarnage 08-06-2018 11:02 AM

Chili Cheese Fries - add all of the jalapenos in the condiment card thing. Assuming heathens haven't made it unsanitary already

Lol. Your name is fish. You can’t talk bad about hot dogs. 😎

scho63 08-06-2018 11:03 AM

I rarely eat anything at the seat, just too messy and a real pain in the ass. I'll have some beers. can't drink too much as they bloat me while sitting for so long.

The few times I went to PNC Park in Pittsburgh I had lemon Italian Ice as it was always hot. I had Pierogi's before the game prior to sitting down.

At AT&T Ballpark in San Fran I would do the hand-carved turkey or prime rib sandwich, cherry tomato and mozzarella skewer, Gordon Biersch garlic fries and Anchor Steam beers. They had great food and I sat in the club level.

At Camden Yards they had great BBQ from Boog Powell's and brats were really good. They had some combo club tickets that gave you a beer, a BBQ sandwich and Club Level bar discount

At Nationals Park in DC I had just hot dogs and once a burger from Five Guys. I ate those at the picnic tables or standing with the food on top of garbage can. Their stadium is a pain to eat at.

I like any stadium with standing tables to eat where you buy the food. So much easier than lugging all the shit back to your seat.

Do they still have Garcias? Used to sit/eat in TGI Fridays back in the day.

With a brat, you can just go with some grilled onions and all is good.

Coors Field has a stand for Famous Dave's. I know KC people like to turn their noses up at the place, but their rib tips make for a pretty fantastic ballpark meal.

Not sure. They definitely still have the TGIF

FlaChief58 08-06-2018 04:04 PM

Go to a nice restaurant before you go. The food will actually be good and you'll probably save money in the process.

Bearcat 08-06-2018 04:11 PM

TGI Fridays... it's pretty great to have a restaurant in left field that has its own section of seats.

Q: What do Johnsonville Brats and sore peckers have in common?

A: They're both pretty hard to beat!!

Although, I will admit that I have never been to a professional baseball game, I'm speaking of Arrowhead

Monkey God 08-06-2018 05:47 PM

Brat or Polish with kraut and mustard. Wash down with a beer. Once in a while chili cheese fries. I'm not into all the specialty food stands.

ChiefsCountry 08-06-2018 05:51 PM

Chili cheese fries or a hot dog in Kansas City either stadium.
Tater tot nachos in St. Louis at Busch Stadium.

Spott 08-06-2018 05:58 PM

Boiled peanuts.

Jesus Christ, how many MLB stadiums have you been to? Perhaps you should go on a quest to ensure you get to all of them.

bdj23 08-06-2018 06:44 PM

I usually go with beer and those cheap nachos with the neon plastic cheese.

My buddy got some mahi mahi tacos at Busch a few years ago, pretty good for ballpark fare.

Veterans Stadium- Phillies (first baseball game ever in 1971, saw Chris Short of Phillies pitch against Dock Ellis of the Pirates. Saw Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell play in that game. I'm a Pirates fan)
Shea Stadium- NY Mets
Yankee Stadium
Fenway Park - BoSox
PNC Park - Pittsburgh
AT&T Park - San Francisco
Rodgers Stadium - Toronto Blue Jays (didn't care for but roof was open)
Camden Yards- Orioles
Nationals Park in DC
D'backs Stadium- didn't like not a fan of enclosed baseball stadiums.

scho63 08-07-2018 06:03 AM

How do any of you eat nachos or cheese fries or anything messy like that at your seat? :hmmm:

Too much effort and too much risk to spill have the shit all over yourself.

KCUnited 08-07-2018 06:17 AM

It pains me to say it, but the White Sox park has the best food/beer selection of any stadium I've been to. The crowd looks like a baseball game broke out inside a Walmart, but the food selection is like a parade of food trucks. My go-to is their Irish nachos sans Sox helmet and a beer from their Craft Beer Cave. At Kauffman, it's a brat and a Boulevard.

you had me until the strawberry milk powder. lolz

and for the record i did my usual annual splash: a shoboygan footlong with saurkraut, onions, and a line of mustard. sorry i didn't get a pic in. i was pretty hungry.

Tangent: I hate looking for 3 seats. It's so much easier to get 4 where I want to sit, and try to sell the single.

Baby Lee 08-07-2018 08:03 AM

Haven't been to a Cards game in a while, but for the longest the two best things there were a loaded nachos [nothing fancy, but sizeable and tasty, . . . . neon cheese, refried beans, sour cream, ground beef and jalapenos], and parmesan chicken strips with honey mustard.

Nzoner 08-07-2018 08:07 AM

I don't normally eat at a ballgame but the few times I have I've carried in a Subway.

Can't believe the DBacks are already looking for another stadium... indoor or not, it's pretty nice.

gblowfish 08-07-2018 11:56 AM

The only things I'll eat at Kauffman Stadium are the soft pretzels and an occasional Sheboygan Brat. Now, if you happen to get a crown seat, definitely go have the pre-game buffet. Millionaires eat the good stuff.

They were wanting $187 million for renovating a 20 year old stadium... I think cities are slowly waking up to the fact that public money is better spent elsewhere.

Unless you meant eating the middle of a nacho plate with a fork is asinine...

I like to grab a full slab and then go straight across the concourse behind the concession stand where the tables overlook the player's parking lot. Some pretty nice whips...and Charlie Blackmon's 2004 Jeep Laredo that he still drives from high school.
