Earl Thomas a longshot to be a Chief
They just said on ESPN we were on the list of teams that he could be dealt to.
|
I'm in on that
|
Now Mortensen saying we are a frontrunner.
|
I don’t believe it.
|
While I'd love to see this happen, he's going to be a Cowboy
|
Get it done please. :thumb:
|
I would be ok with that

Wow... |
I liked when the media was all saying Andy Reid was going to Arizona Cardinals
but Andy didn't buy any ocean front property there. |
I'd hate to spend that kinda money on him but we only have a 15 year window to win 10-12 Superbowls.
|
Great.
No sense in wasting an elite offense. Let’s win it all. |
Holy shit, Twitter already buzzing pretty rapidly about this.
|
Would be so cool for him to start next week with Berry in Denver.
|
We'd have to give up a fairly high draft pick .

If this happened and its a longshot, I bet it would motivate Berry to get his ass on the field quicker.

We would have the top two safeties selected in 2010... Berry at 5, Thomas at 14... pretty wild.

Probably could get it done for a 3rd. |
I read that Seattle already rejected a 2nd round pick from Dallas and may want more than a 3rd rounder they'd get if he just left

Get it done

I'm gonna have to buy moar lube! |
Between Earl Thomas and Eric Berry, since they were drafted in 2010, Eric Berry has had 5 pro bowl seasons, 3 first team all pro seasons and Thomas has had 6 pro bowl seasons, 3 first team all pro seasons.
That’s a combined 11 pro bowls and 6 first team all pro selections since 2010... |

Trade Peters to the Rams for a second and then flip it to Seattle for Thomas. Peters for Thomas. I could live with that.

With Veach, I have absolutely no concern that he's willing to throw his chips down on the table. Especially with an extra one in hand.
|
And getting Sorenson back later would put us over the top

If the compensation is similar, I would think Seattle would rather send Thomas to the AFC than to Dallas.
|
ET also might be a hint that Berry will miss more than half the season.
|
HARD PASS
if were talking a 2nd round pick. He's only under contract this year. He'll be 30 by the draft if he's willing to sign a 2 yr guaranteed deal I'd be interested but I'm sure he's gonna want more |
Make it so

I’ll believe it when I see it

Earl Thomas, come on down

Still need a damn pass rush

This sounds great, but I just don't see how we get him on a reasonable contract. If we extend him that is a lot of ****ing money tied up in two 30 year old safeties.

I'll take a remnant of the Legion of Boom to help our current Legion of Running Room any day of the week.

Wow if this happens both berry and Thomas might make Orlando look ok good. I’ve always had faith in Veach he knows the problem areas of this D he’s working on it. Damn if he could pull this off watch out.
|
If they make this move it's to win it all this year.
|
Not a fan. Another guy who wants a huge contract. And then are you really going to be paying $30M a year for safety play when it is said to have become a devalued position?
If we didnt have Berry, maybe. It just doesn't make sense to me to have the top two biggest safety contracts. |

Chilli is right.
You don't trade away future assets for a one year rental. |

I'd pay a late 2nd rounder in the 2019 draft to have a legitimate chance to win the Super Bowl.

Earl Thomas for the rest of the season and possibility of a longer term deal is worth the price of missing out on Breeland Speaks II in next year's draft. |

Trying to drive the price up. DAL will give up a 1st eventually lol
|
i didn't see the report... but this rundown says...
"However, Mortensen says that it is a “super long shot” that Thomas lands in Dallas, although he says the Chiefs have emerged as a potential landing spot." Dallas is the longshot here. https://www.profootballrumors.com/20...-earl-thomas-2 |
I think if you trade for him.....you’ll have to give him a new contract because that’s why he wants out of Seattle.
|
I know this doesn't really compare - but look at the Royals championship season.
Mortgaging future assets for a chance to win now. As long as the price isn't too steep, pull the damn trigger. |

I was askingwhat you thought about it if he was extended though. |
well at least he's on the last year of his contract, I'd say go all in.

Thomas’s main beef this offseason has been the Seahawks failing to extend him... so I am guessing any team showing interest probably has intentions of extending him, right? Otherwise you risk inheriting the same drama that Seattle has had with him... I dunno...
|
No way we should give up Hunt.
