-- Don't underestimate Walmart's hot food bar!

I hate Walmart - but will still go - since they've added the self-checkouts - HOWEVER - I tried their deli departments Ranch buffalo wings from a CP recommendation and it's true, they're delicious. I then, today; bought a full lunch plate for $4.48 - it's a great value and very good.

I recommend it for value+taste.

Thank you.

Ranch chicken wings? Like they already have ranch flavor before you dip them in more ranch?

yes - they're encrusted w/ ranch powder and MSG - but they're mighty tasty.

I use to grab the 3 choice bucket all hot wings and a 12 pack when I was in a rush for game food. It was like $13. Great wings

There's a Walmart Market near my place. But they don't have a food bar like that. They have rotisserie chickens and hot dogs and cups of popcorn chicken. But I haven't seen a big food bar like that in a Walmart..

Deberg_1990 11-16-2018 11:43 AM

Was checking out at my local wal mart last night. walked up to one of those new 'scan and gos'

There were two employees standing in the front of the aisle to greet. But that's all they were doing. I had to walk up, scan my own groceries and bag everything myself.

They were paying these two chumps to just stand there and greet? Unreal. So Impersonal.

L.A. Chieffan 11-16-2018 11:52 AM

Walmart doesn't have a good bathroom to do coke in.

The Pilgram Chicken Sandwiches off the hot counter is legit too. They have regular and spicy. They fry the burritos too

They are there to enter a code when you scan beer, etc.

If everyone quits using the self checks, they will eventually hire cashiers. It helps to get the local paper involved.

I avoid the place like the plague, but **** them if they think I'm going to check and bag my own shit while donny the reerun stands over my shoulder drooling over local skanks while watching me do his work. Especially after the god damn franchise ran every small store in the whole ****ing town out of business.

The popcorn chicken will keep you from starving, but **** that place.

I hate it like you, but they had 4 or 5 lanes of these things and there was no line in any of them. It was the fastest path to get out of the store.

I truly hate the idea of customers doing the work the employees should be doing and getting paid for. Bad precedent and bad customer service.

What’s odd is that they don’t carry the ranch wings at the TX side Walmart. You have to go to AR side to get them. Thankfully, I work about 10 blocks from there and it’s the closest place to grab food.

BlackOp 11-16-2018 03:09 PM

Eating at a Walmart buffet in Cumming, GA? ...better than "Hot Load, AR", I guess.

This place is classy...

I am with you on the doing your own scanning thing. I refuse, but yesterday at the one in Branson, they only had 5 registers open with a store full of people shopping. There was about 6 deep in each check out line, but at least a couple dozen "scan and go" sites open.

I didn't need the couple items i had and just walked out and said **** it. However, they are probably having a hell of a time trying to find people to hire with the unemployment rate being where it is.

While in Virginia Beach last month, I needed a key made. The guy in charge of making them, had to have been dropped off at work because there is no way in hell he could have gotten there by himself. It took me about 9 nano seconds to realize he wasn't going to be able to make my key.

The newer Walmart nearest me has two 'areas' for fresh food prep now.

The usual hot food line at the front, and a sammich line with the deli at back.

You're obviously right, but the local Methican Americans aren't smart enough to realize the ramifications of their decisions.

They went straight for the throat here right from the start though. They completely redefined "loss leader" when they went after the local grocery stores. Not to mention stiffing multiple local contractors during the building process. More than one went bankrupt over the deal. **** them forever.

As much as I hate to say this - this is the future. You (the customer) DRIVES to the store, picks up a scanner when you come in the front door, scan your order as you pick them up, bag them (with your own bags) pay for the groceries at your “Scanner” and carry them to the car yourself and then drive them home. Worst part? Prices go UP - rather than DOWN.

Basically, you are doing everything at the store but stocking the shelves - and whose to say that in the future, they won’t require the customer to unload the trucks when they arrive? Grocery shopping is taking on a much different “look” in the future.

Yip, I had that same take as a few others a few yrs ago - bottom line is - nothing lasts forever in this world - especially where employment is involved, it's sad but it's reality.

Sams Club already has the scanner built into their app. Greatest thing ever, you never go to a checkout.

Or you could get online, order all your groceries, drive up and have them loaded without ever getting out of your truck. Walmart, Safeway, Frys, etc. all have it.

Also- thank you SR for sharing this review from an unexpected dining source. I’ll look for you to post the Reviewbrah when he does Wally World.

Maybe for some retailers like wal mart.

Several grocery store chains I’ve been in still prefer to provide customer service. I guess wal mart decided to just give up on basic customer service.

Scan and go app is where its at.

Yes. I fully acknowledge the same ****s that own Walmart own sams. However they are way different stores and I just can’t do Walmart. The reerun is still there in sams but it’s turned down

tooge 11-17-2018 04:32 PM

Looks legit for buffet style. Only one problem. I’d have to actually go into Walmart. I boycotted them years ago when they started popping up in smallish towns and killing off mom and pop stores. **** Walmart.

Easy 6 11-17-2018 04:37 PM

The wal-mart here has a full grocery store, but doesnt have anything like that, just rotisserie chickens and a few other things

I avoid the place as much as possible... but would definitely try those ranch wings if they ever did a hot bar

Baby Lee 11-17-2018 06:23 PM

Q just occurred to me, does the Wal-Mart where you hot bar also have a Subway at the front?

As bad as the rest of the Wal-Mart environment is, it's that throbbing incessant smell of the '7-herb' bread that really puts me off food consumption when I go there.

I don't think I would eat a Wally World chicken wing if they came with $5 bills attached to each one but I am going to try my Kroger bistro's wings next time I go.

Kroger's Street Tacos and enchiladas are made by Hispanics and the Chinese and sushi, which are both excellent, (seafood flown in fresh daily) are prepared by Asian's who are not Kroger employees unlike Wal-Mart. They may not be required to have any food knowledge or training to work there. Do you really think Wally's wings aren't out of a bag?

They even have a real BBQ pit and the ribs are as good as some BBQ joints. Would you order ribs at Wally World?

Only management is food safety certified at Wally's yet at my Kroger all people who prepare ready to eat food are certified. **** eating at Wal-Mart.

 Do you know what a contraction is? Do you know what a plural noun is?
