ESPN Playoff Simulator
And, here you go... didn't know which thread was most appropriate for this, so created one. Enjoy playing out the final few weeks.

I like the way things are playing out. Stoolers with their tie and the loss this week are angling toward the 3 seed, which means we might get to avoid either NE or PIT. They still have a game left against the Saints as well.
Of course, if they tank too far, we might still have to play them both. |

Interesting stuff. My initial guesses show the Steelers and Broncos fighting for the #6 spot, with the Colts having an outside shot. It would be great if the Steelers didn't even make the playoffs.
And the NFC seeds from 3 to 6 bounce all over the place. And man, the Chiefs have to keep winning. We may be able to survive one loss if we're lucky, but we can't survive two. |
I hope all the Denver faithful work this pretty aggressively... Denver has a nice stretch of games, but there's zero room for error which is why I am content with the reality (as I have been the last 2 months) that there is no post season in their future. The Broncos literally have to win out and have a few things go there way, outside of PIT/LAC/BAL/HOU losing a game or two they shouldn't.
Will be interesting to see how KC holds off the Patriots... MIN / @ MIA / @ PIT / BUF / Jets @ OAK / BAL / LAC / @ Sea / Oak Patriots have the harder road and are 1 game back of KC, but they hold the H2H tiebreaker. It's going to be an interesting finish. Curious to see what happens with LAC/PIT/HOU/IND/BAL. |
Man KC has the much favorable schedule over LAC, NE, and Pitt. That's a freaking brutal stretch for Pitt and LAC.
|
The Colts are the exact type of team that can beat us. I don’t want them in the playoffs
|
Yeah, lots of things up in the air.
Pit. vs. NE probably for a bye and to decide who hosts the rematch (if they're 2-3 seeds.) Chiefs can probably afford 1 loss (at Seattle?) to get HFA. (I assume NE loses at least 1 more.) Chargers spot in playoffs is far from settled. They have some tough games coming up and no real home field advantage in their home games. |
AFC
1. Chiefs (14-2) 2. Houston (12-4) 3. New England (11-5) 4. Pittsburgh (10-5-1) 5. Indianapolis (11-5) 6. Baltimore (10-6) NFC 1. New Orleans (14-2) 2. Los Angeles (14-2) 3. Chicago (12-4) 4. Dallas (9-7) 5. Minnesota (10-5-1) 6. Carolina (10-6) |
And I have Denver finishing 9-7 on the year.

Lmao if Texans win out and Pats lose just one of their remaining games they will be playing during wildcard weekend. Oh and Steelers have completely fist ****ed any opportunity at a bye.
|
Have the Texans beaten anyone with a winning record?
|
The browns sneaky have a chance here. They still play a lot of teams they're competing with.

I think my favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, will be the #1 seed in the playoffs.

Some will think I’m crazy but if all goes according to plan with health, this defense can match up with even the Saints pretty well IMO. They’d give up points for sure but they can do some good things against them.
We can use press coverage to disrupt timing in their pass offense. We can get after the QB with 4 rushers, Brees isn’t elusive back there. Shade a free safety over Thomas and let Berry handle the TE. Run defense looks much better with Houston in there and Berry too I imagine. There’s ifs involved with it but I’m just saying it’s possible. |
The Chiefs defense sucks man. If they match up with the Saints, it's gonna be hope we can hold them to 35 and score 36.

Not exaggerating would bet its closer to 100 than 75 if they played, |
Every time I see LAC I think of the ****ing Clippers and therefore the chargers are the clippers

But the point stands that they can pressure the QB without blitzing and that’s a big deal come playoff time. |

JFC they've had a fluff schedule. We'd have been 16-0. Technically yes, but no.. They've yet to play a real team. Remaining schedule - Titans, Browns, Colts, @ Jets, @ Eagles, Jaguars. |
Oh, and ty MHM for posting this
|
1. KC (14-2)
2. NE (12-4) 6. DEN (10-6) @ 3. HOU (12-4) 5. LAC (11-5) @ 4. PIT (10-5-1) I'm just not sold on the Colts, yet...maybe I should be rather than giving DEN too much credit. But DEN has 2 remaining home games vs LAC (who they already beat in LA) and CLE and their remaining 3 road games are vs CIN, OAK, SF...all being very winnable. They can run the ball very well. Oline can run block like a mofo. They have a good defense. That's a formula for success in December when weather gets bad. Their downfall will be Vance Joseph. The guy is an incompetent loser. He'd rather put the ball in Keenum's hands than run the ball. They're not at that point yet where they can do that and expect to win important must-win games. Keenum isn't "that" guy....and deep down I think Elway knows it. Other than @PHI, HOU's schedule is a god damn cakewalk from here on out. Lucky bastards. Still not sold on Watson as a long term franchise QB. Hope that ****ing piece of overrated shit comes into Arrowhead in the playoffs. LAC has a brutal remaining schedule, still has to play @KC, @PIT, @DEN..possibly without Melvin Gordon. BAL and CIN aren't really cakewalks either, but LAC should take care of them at home. PIT also has a brutal remaining schedule, still has to play NE, LAC, and @NO. Luckily for them NE and LAC are at home. We all know NE plays in a god damn shitty ass division and has for years...which is partially why they get HFA all the time. Their remaining sched only has the @PIT game as a game of concern...unless MIN pulls a rabbit out of their ass and wins in Foxboro...I don't see it happening but you never know. But I don't think NE is the NE teams that's we've seen in the past, and I think NE will lose 1 of those games. I'm really leaning on thinking they won't be able to go into PIT and win, in past years I would have said otherwise, I just don't think this Pats team is as good as those in the past. It's also the time of year where that team starts taking care of biz...we'll see. Chiefs need HFA if they expect to make the SB. I don't think this team would be able to go into Foxboro in the postseason and win vs Brady/BB and refs. Same goes w/ PIT, even though KC already beat them in their place. Hard to beat someone in their place twice. Even w/ their most recent loss, they're still a better team now than they were when KC played them earlier in the season, and they'll have bulletin board material, they'll be hungry wanting revenge..when it matters most. And you can bet they'll get the favorrable ref calls as well. Playing on the road in the postseason is difficult. On the flip side...I don't think there's one team in the NFL that can come into Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs. It took 2 road games vs 2 of the best teams in the NFL to put up 40+ and 50+ pts to beat KC, both games losing by just 3 pts....think about that. Had either of those games been played in KC, the Chiefs win both of those games by a couple scores. |
|
I wouldn't be surprised if Houston lost tonight

Dalton placed in IR, I guess that changes a couple of my picks.

I think 13-3 probably takes HFA. Pats are certainly beatable.
The thing I'm most frustrated about is Seattle being gifted game after game. I really wanted them to be out of the playoff picture when we have to go in there – never an easy place to play. But it appears they’ll be playing for their lives instead. |

We may have screwed ourselves losing the NE game. Now we need help from the Vikes and Pitt. Hard to see our defense helping Mahomes win a prime time game in Seattle. We have lost two of them already. Effing bullshit schedule we have three of them. Defense in the prime time on the road has been a disater.

1/ Defense has been bad most of the season by day and by night. 2/ Our primetime road game sample size is 3 and we're 1-2 having beaten Denver. Most statisticians will tell you this is not statistically significant. 3/ We also played Cincy at home AT NIGHT and our defense decimated them. 4/ We still control our own destiny. 5/ Mahomes. |

I'd like to exorcise all demons in one single season and have the 2018 Chiefs be in discussion for greatest team of all time. I want the Colts at home in a WC game, then beat Pitt in Pitt and beat New England in Foxboro. I want to taste Colt, Steeler and Patriot tears. I want to bathe in that shit. Then they can destroy the Saints in the Super Bowl and make Brees consider retirement.

Just for grins... I came up with this one. I honestly cannot see Denver winning the next 5, but it's certainly not impossible. I think they'll realistically lose 1-2 because they're just so sporadic.
Anyway, this is what I came up with ... KC would be in a prime spot playing at home in this scenario. |
AFC
1)KC 14-2 2)Hou 13-3 3)Pit 11-4-1 4)NE 11-5 5)LAC 10-6 6) Ind 10-6 NFC 1)NO 15-1 2)LAR 15-1 3)Chi 12-4 4)Dal 8-8 5)Min 9-6-1 6)Sea 9-7 |
I do see the Texans dropping one more, even though their schedule seems light on paper.
The Colts game won't be easy, and @ Philly is always tough...even when they're struggling like they are. |
Let's go 14-2. I don't want a loss until the 2019 preseason.

I've got:
1. KC 2. NE ______________ 3 Hou 4 Pitt 5 Chargers 6 Denver |
If you want a site that allows you to then play out the playoff matchups, go here:
https://playoffpredictors.com/Football/NFL Some of my notables: Week 13: Bengals, even without Dalton, beat DEN (Because that's exactly the kind of game Denver loses.) Steelers over Chargers. Vikings beat NE. Cowboys actually beat NO. Week 14: Bears beat Rams. Colts beat Texans. Week 15: Steelers beat Pats. Chiefs beat Chargers. Week 16: Seahawks beat Chiefs. Saints beat Steelers. Eagles beat Texans. Ravens beat Chargers. Week 17: The Chargers go full Chokers and lose at Denver, missing the playoffs. Everything else pretty much goes as expected. WC: (5) Texans at (4) Colts (6) Ravens at (3) Patriots (5) Seahawks at (4) Cowboys (6) Vikings at (3) Bears DV (3) Patriots at (2) Steelers (4) Colts at (1) Chiefs (3) Bears at (2) Rams (5) Seahawks at (1) Saints Conference Championship: (3) Patriots at (1) Chiefs (2) Rams at (1) Saints Super Bowl Chiefs vs Rams. |
Quote:
Keenum is 5-6 No way Denver beats out Indy (colts did lose a tight end though) |
Quote:
@ CIN / @ SFF / CLE / @ OAK / LAC Only a 1 game difference, Denver has a slightly more friendly schedule... we shall see. |
Pats play at Steelers week 15. Chiefs take care of business against Chargers Thursday night, and we can all sit back and enjoy the show on Sunday. Pats have owned Pitt for a while now. I expect a lot of frustration to be released.
It would be really nice to go into week 16 against Seattle knowing we have a 1 loss cushion for HFA. |
