Let's talk about the Colts

They just beat up on a dogshit Texans team despite only sacking Watson 3 times. Their defense couldn't get pressure against the worst OL in the NFL.

So, how many touchdowns will Mahomes throw??

pugsnotdrugs19 01-05-2019 06:26 PM

Panic will ensue all over this place but Mahomes is here and he’s ready to end this curse. Against the ultimate Chiefs heartbreaker.

The Texans have shown some things this half that KC can carry into their game plan on defense. We’re gonna get this done. Won’t be easy, but we’re going to win this mother****er.

POND_OF_RED 01-05-2019 06:27 PM

Just one punt. That’s all I ask.

Deberg_1990 01-05-2019 06:30 PM

Marlon Mack. 165 yards rushing

Hilton 188 yards receiving

luck 492 yards passing

CupidStunt 01-05-2019 06:31 PM

Keys to the game IMO:

1) Colts pass-rush is bad. If the OL has a decent game, it's almost unfathomable that Mahomes doesn't sit back and pick them apart all game long. Their secondary isn't much at all.

2) Colts OL is elite. We have the most sacks in the league. We HAVE to show up in this regard. If not, Luck can match Mahomes for sure.

3) Luck WILL throw some gimme INTs, we have to TAKE them. We've dropped too many in recent games and years. This could be a deciding factor.

4) The crowd has to show up. HOU has one of the most pathetic home crowds in the league. Colts offense played like it was a home game. The noise has to be our 12th defender.

comochiefsfan 01-05-2019 06:31 PM

Idk what everyone is concerned about.

Alex Smith isn't walking through that door. This time we have Peyton Manning and they have Trent Green.

A lot of demons will be exorcised next Saturday.

Red Dawg 01-05-2019 06:33 PM

Bob is a concern
Smith and Ward at corner are a concern. Rookies going against Luck is a concern.

kccrow 01-05-2019 06:33 PM

From my vantage point, with the coverages Indy was playing, Mahomes could easily throw 5 or 6. Watson fist-****ed that Texans team with his inability to make reads under pressure and make basic NFL throws. Mahomes doesn't miss a thing out there, it's going to be an entirely different animal. I think this offense is going to rape that defense, really. The only question is does the defense step up. I think they do. I think they are good enough to hold that team in check. 42-21 Chiefs.

Luck was my first big chiefs heartbreak. Lets break the curse.

Hoover 01-05-2019 06:35 PM

I think this is the best outcome.

I wouldn't want our D to meet the Texans offense, but the Colts don't really bother be all that much. Would be great if Berry could keep the TEs in check, but I doubt thats going to happen.

Shoes 01-05-2019 06:36 PM

Love this matchup for the Chiefs more so than the Ravens or Chargers. Colts won’t be able to get away with running a cover 2 against Mahomes and company for so long.

Obviously there are concerns about the defense but Andrew Luck didn’t look that great in the 2nd half. Also intrigued how Indy does outdoors.

Let’s exorcise some demons on Saturday.

arrowheadnation 01-05-2019 06:36 PM

According to a lot of you sissies this threat title should be changed to "Let's start talking about next year." We have to exorcise this demon eventually....might as well be Mahomes that does it.

In58men 01-05-2019 06:36 PM

This fan base has so many ****ing doubters.

We don’t have Cassel, Alex, Huard, Thigpen, Croyle etc etc

We have an MV-****ing-P

Keep doubting, but I know we got this. Not even worried.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-05-2019 06:37 PM

I mean seriously, who better to finally get over the home playoff curse? This is perfect.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-05-2019 06:38 PM

If Watkins plays at 100% I say KC wins by double digits.

Best22 01-05-2019 06:38 PM

The bleeding vajajays on this board are going to ruin the whole week

I’m tired of “scared” fans. What difference does it make? We lost to a horribleTitans team last year who cares if the opponent is “scary” or not?

Only thing that matters is how well 2018 Chiefs play. If we play to our level KC will win going away

Sure. He's very good, but let's not act like he's a hall of famer.

I should’ve added “since Dawson, but before Mahomes”

Mahomes is the MVP and superior to Luck in every way minus experience

RINGLEADER 01-05-2019 06:39 PM

Posted elsewhere but will stick it here too:

Chiefs and Colts are going to be going at it for the next decade. No better time than now to break their playoff streak and kick these MFers to the curb.

Execute on offense and we win -- no matter what the defense does or doesn't do.

MIAdragon 01-05-2019 06:40 PM

Dumb analogy. Trent balled his ass off that game. We lost because of a Priest fumble and a bullshit offensive pass interference on Gonzalez.

Bracket Hilton, Make Berry put down the ****ing nachos and play to cover Ebron, send the dogs after Luck, and play some ****ing run defense up the middle. Mahomes will take care of the rest.

I've got a feeling that we're going to see a different Mahomes than even the one we've seen in the regular season.

I just get the sense that he's on a mission and this team is tired of hearing about being chokers in the playoffs.

He doesn’t need to play different.

Just needs to remain his confident, cool self, just like he was in Pittsburgh and vs Baltimore

Coach 01-05-2019 06:46 PM

And Mahomes needs to connect his passes on the opening drive. Several big games the Chiefs had, he was too "amped" up.

Yes. Same year as the 28 point comeback.

Beat us 23-7, a classic vanilla offense from Reid as it was obvious we would end up playing Indy in the playoffs at that point IIRC.

RunKC 01-05-2019 06:48 PM

Some observations that we need to follow:

-We need to line up Nnandi against Nelson every single early down. He’s the best matchup to hold the line against him. Put Houston over there with him against the LT everytime. That’s their money path for run downs. Put our best run stuffers against them to neutralize.

-Put Chris Jones in the A gap between the C and RG. Put Ford against the RT Braden Smith. That’s a great matchup for us.

-Mahomes biggest weakness is himself and defenses are starting to play defense against it. I fully expect the Colts to come out defending the deep game with Tampa 2. Don’t try to go deep too much when the defense is begging you to get short yards. Take the check down if they leave it open, take the 5 yard run on 1st down.

-Use Benjamin and Conley on screens. These are our best blocking receivers. Get some screens going and have these guys blocking in front of whoever has the ball.

-try every single blitz. O’Daniel, Sorenson, Lucas. Use those guys who have our best speed.

-For gods sake, DO NOT STOP ATTACKING IN THE SECOND HALF!!!

MVChiefFan 01-05-2019 06:56 PM

It is what we’ve always known it to be. If our defense will hold every opponent, from here on out, to under 24 points, we’ll be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in a month. They just need to step up.

New World Order 01-05-2019 06:57 PM

38-31 Chiefs

OnTheWarpath15 01-05-2019 06:58 PM

No doubt we score 40+ on offense.

If the defense can play like it did against the Raiders, especially in the first half, get a turnover and let the offense stake the team to a big lead....we can kiss the demons goodbye.

DwB49 01-05-2019 07:19 PM

The only thing I would be worried about is the pressure factor. Colts have nothing to lose and Chiefs have EVERYTHING to lose. Against that secondary, basically Luck is going to be throwing against air, and he can run too. But I think if Colts are TOO loose and self-confident, it could backfire. If not....well i'm sure no one really wants think about that. Reid may need some gimmick plays at some point i think.

As long as the offense takes care of business, we should win comfortably. A couple or three stops by the defense, and we should be good to go.

Just keep the pedal to the metal AR!

You could make this same argument for every underdog ever. Do they usually win? Nope. And preseason expectations? No one saw us winning the West.

I've probably seen a dozen of Watson's games and this was his worst performance. Didn't seem a function of anything the Colts were doing either. He just failed.

If Mahomes suddenly becomes human and is threatened by the spotlight, we'll lose this game. If Mahomes is Mahomes against a defense that we should normally be able to pick apart, we'll win.

The defense will have their breakdowns and Hilton and Ebron will terrorize us. Whatever. Water is wet and this is a given.

Leave it to Mahomes.

DwB49 01-05-2019 07:32 PM

Well of course being a playoff game everyone hates losing. Guess I should have rephrased that. Being an underdog on the road against a #1 seed, it's not like losing the game is the end of the world. The Chiefs are in no way underestimating them, but at the same time they are no doubt just as confident too. But Mahomes may still have to win this one all by himself.

BossChief 01-05-2019 07:34 PM

I can see a game where a few playoff yardage and scoring records fall.

This is gonna be like the Rams game, but they don’t have Donald.

I’m having a rough time making an honest prediction, but I think it’s gonna be a high scoring game where the team that wins the turnover and penalty battle, wins the game.

I see KC winning a 53-48 style game

If Watkins and Berry both play, I can see us winning 53-38 or something close to that.

This game should be an instant classic

Would you rather be the Colts or the Chiefs who have a 23yr old MVP going into this game?

Is losing this game the end of the world for us? The window is wide open for us for awhile. I understand what you're saying but historically this sort of mindset doesn't influence anything.

KC has allowed 18 ppg at home this year....so you are expecting the Colts, who just put up 0 points in the second half....to come in and triple it with 48?

Do you think they are the Rams at home or something?

Luck has feasted of shitty teams all season...why is everyone thinking they are some an offensive juggernaut. Jags shut them out just a month ago...Texans just shut them out in the final :30 minutes.
