Shaping up nicely!

Damn this guy is freaking good!! He runs some crazy twists and stunts
|
I’m probably more excited for this hire than House even.

Another badass hire. Arrowhead pointing UP.

I’m glad Spags saw this Defense as an abortion. I wonder who he will add next
|
This strengthens the Chiefs while also weakening the Patriots. Daly can bring a lot of valuable info to the building beyond his own coaching ability.
|
Keep adding up!!!!
|
It appears Clark Hunt may be throwing a lot of coaching dollars around...
|
Damn good offseason so far.
|
Britt back to quality control?
Wow, Reid/Spags are not ****ing around..... |
House and Daly! Two people who should be DC. It feels like a dream

I wonder if Bill allows Schiano to bring in a coach or two. Schiano is a solid DC, but I “hope” there is some personality tension/friction that builds in Foxboro....
Schiano can be a loose cannon. |

This is a great time for this franchise. We're building a war chest for the future and we're building it on ROCK, not sand. I don't know about you, but I can't WAIT for March 13th, 4:00pm. |

Damn this is a nice hire

No more mediocre bullshit. FINALLY!!!!!

Anyone else's first thought? - "Hope he's not for inside INTEL" (joking, but I first thought that)
damned Cheatriots. |

One thing's for sure; the debate about talent vs. coaching is going to be answered in 2019 if they DO end up keeping a lot of current players. But I don't think they will. As to your point, I fully expect this defense to be ranked overall in the mid to high teens best case scenario and low 20's worst case scenario going in to the playoffs, and that will be enough to beat Brady or anyone else. |

Do you think Spags is making these moves by himself or is Reid approving of these. I’m almost tempted to say Reid told Spags that the defense is all yours. You make hires and fires. You talk to the Defense like any coach would. If Reid just focuses on offense and Spags focused on defense this would be the best case scenario
|
I apologize if this has been talked about - but does Spags have any history with House or Daly?
|
You know what? **** it. We don’t need free agents. This is a really ****ing good coaching staff.
I certainly won’t be upset if we bring in a Landon Collins or whomever, but I think if we make smart moves and draft well, we can also save cap dollars towards those big upcoming extensions and still field a credible defense. Guys like Daly and House are going to do wonders for the players who are already here |

I’m rock hard gentlemen. Bring this strategy to KC.

If we were to get only one Free agent on this defense who would you want? No trades just free agency. I do believe that Veach will pull some trades this offseason though. The Ward trade paid off big time. Ragland is still a unknown. I’m willing to give him one more year in this defense. But you do draft a OLB and a Safety

Given the way defenses have to mutate into hybrid formations throughout a game anymore, I think this is a key hire. If anyone has been in a defense that can\will change from game-game it's this guy.
As far as everyone getting excited about Daly calling stunts and twists I would temper your enthusiasm a bit. Or am I wrong in thinking the DC decides those kinds of things and not the DL coach? |

Reid apparently was fine with Ward starting Veach traded for the guy So I think if Spags keeps him as a starter you know the guy probably has something going for him. If Spags dumps him or pushes him back to a backup spot then I think we are going to see some kind of a FA deal for CB With Watts coming back and Lucas I think Spags might see them both with enough speed and talent to be our safeties. You still have Dirty Dan if you wanna play 8 in the box. But if we are going to see a lot more Cover-2 and Cover-3 type defenses then I think Lucas and Watts will at least get a chance at starting unless someone is available that you can't pass on. |

Although I really would love Earl Thomas, I am starting to think maybe depending on Berry health outlook the Chiefs roll with the safeties they have. |
Certainly can't be a bad move. He knows how to coach.

His wife apparently is from this area. That's gold and puts him in all in mode from family pressure.
"Honey, you will take the KC job and help out my beloved Chiefs. I am sick of being around Boston assholes". |

Spagnuolo asks a ton out of his safeties in his scheme. Parker/Sorenson/Berry/Murray were all pedestrian or worse last year - at least Sorenson showed signs of life late in the season to perhaps merit a consideration of being retained. The others? GTFO. Expect two safeties that are versatile to garner most of the snaps in this defense. Spagnuolo deploys more corners in nickel/dime than Sutton. In short - the safeties will have to be studs as they will rarely leave the field. I see one of the big three safeties as the priority FA target: Collins, Amos or Thomas. |

Besides Sorensen our Safeties are AIDS and that includes Berry

I guess that's one way to help out the Chiefs OL in the rematch games next year, lol

I usually bold important parts of an article, but this entire article deserves to be in bold.
This guy sounds really really good. https://nesn.com/2019/01/why-brendan...mpression=true |
sounds good to me

We’re gonna put it on those Patriot ****s next year. Twice.
|
Great hire! And from the Cheatriots too!

And when Brady is gone, I want to walk in to Foxboro and just ****ing HUMILIATE that entire fan base on national TV. |
I like the part about him headbutting a player. That's the kind of intensity this defense needs. They've been WAY to sort under Sutton, they need coaches that will light a fire under their asses.
|
Wow Interesting hire! The guy who got the d-line ready to do all those stunts and shit they did in the playoffs. I believe they led the league in playoff sacks! and were 3rd in pressures in the regular season despite their low sack total.

The Patriots o-line have had stunts called against them by the Chiefs and didn't really get home. The Patriots were so successful with stunts in the playoffs so Daly must know how to coach the players up. I will add one small caution, it would appear the interior was the weakness of the Chargers, Chiefs and Rams o-line so they kept attacking it, but they used stunts to give their "less flashy" personnel a chance I'm guessing. I will NOT be one of those people. This entire forum can take "bend don't break" and shove it up their micro-penii hole if need be. Kansas City Chiefs Defense: bringing back "hit of the week". WITHOUT apology. :D |

Without making a single draft pick/free agency transaction, the Chiefs defense is already lightyears better than it was at this time three weeks ago, thanks to the changes on the defensive staff.
Can't wait to see what Veach has planned for free agency/the draft. The Super Bowl or Bust offseason is starting very nicely. |

Wow. This is ****ing great.
Is House official though? Haven’t heard that cornfimed. |
With our offense, we need a tough, aggressive defense. To hell with the bend and more-often-than-not break. I don’t care if we let up some big plays, our offense can match points with anyone. But, if we start getting some fast stops several series in a row... LOOK OUT!!!

Odds of a sudden implosion prior to official hiring are pretty unlikely, though, I would imagine. That is, unless any of them are related to Bill Belichick or Josh McDaniels. I might keep an eye on Daly, since he's got the most Patriots stink on him of any of the candidates. |
Huge surprise that makes me happy.
I just hope that this coach doesn't suck once he leaves the Patriots. It's well worth the risk. I can't help it, always have to think of all possible outcomes. |

And we're doing the smart thing and building this team not to win the division but to beat the Pats. We've got the coordinator who's D beat the Pats twice as well as their former DL coach. You don't have to win your division to go to the super bowl but you do have to beat the Pats... |

We didn't need a top 5 HB in this offense (though it would have been quite a luxury) and he was due for a big contract soon. His money can now go to Hill/Jones and we'll have the Williams Brothers (not racist) for years on the cheap... |

Apparently this guy is good enough to where he felt he should be the next DC in Boston. Dude got snubbed. Sounds like he came here in large part because of Spags but also revenge. Good ass hire, bet he'll be motivated to prove his worth.
