EJ Manuel does have WCO experience, is reportedly liked by teammates, and can be a solid camp arm, but I doubt he beats out Henne/Litton. EJ has some of the worst pocket awareness I’ve ever seen....

Damn Coates has some wheels I actually like that signing a lot. He was shelved in PITT because he had like 33939393 other guys in front of him but he's had some flashes.

I read some deep statistical analysis which concluded that the number of m’s in the name was significant in defining success. Veach gets it. It was apparently one of the main reasons he didn’t sign Samy Watkins from Southeastern Louisiana Technical Institute.

This is absolutely the Mahomes effect. Conley is gone. Could Coates beat out D-Rob or Dieter as our number 3? God, yes. And Watkins is so expendable cap-wise beyond this season that we’re an obvious destination for ‘fallen angel’ WRs.

Is it a stretch that Coates could be as good as Martavis Bryant? - he's had better games 'statistically' - when both of them played - IIRC

He spent two years in Pittsburgh doing nothing before being traded to Cleveland where he caught a whopping 6 passes in a season. Then spent most of last year in Houston where he caught one whole pass before being cut in week 12. To quote Billay - he's trash.

Coates had 20.7 YPC the one season he played a decent bit in Pittsburgh.

Hands aren’t reliable but he is explosive at times. Which to me is perfect with Pat.

Demetrius Harris has way better hands than Coates.

Let that sink in.

Coates I watched in College at Auburn. He is very explosive but sometimes takes plays off and his hands aren’t the best. He’s a upgrade over Benjamin

Not sure what the excitement is all about with ej manuel. I wonder how Sammy Watkins feels considering a big reason the bills benched him was because he kept hanging receivers out to dry with his inaccuracy. Also not sure why people don't like Henne as a backup. I actually think he's a great fit for Reid's system.

Darius Heyward-Bey is better than Coates.

It’s not like they signed any of these guys with the expectation that they will make the 53 man roster. But I can appreciate taking chances on guys who have some form of talent that is above average, like Coates’ speed for example.

If it works out, awesome. If not, oh well.

I kind of like those guys that have areas of excellence but failed at their first stop. Failure means they've been somewhere and "know the deal". You'll get their absolute best effort to perform so they can stay in the league and pursue their dream. You can't always polish a turd but if they've got something above average in the physical toolkit to work with then some blossom.

It's actually an interesting point. Hard to get touches in the WR logjam in Houston and especially Pittsburgh. Had total shit at qb in Cleveland. I don't think his stone hands can be fixed. But theres that tiny chance that consistent reps can help with focus.

Hopefully Andy Reid can do his magic on Manuel and we can flip him to some stupid franchise like the Chiefs used to be.

Johnson spent time with the 49ers, Seattle, Bills, Browns, and Cardinals... Is his hip issues still present? The kid has a lot of potential if he's healthy.

What's the scouting report on Grayson? Maybe a good sign that the Chiefs thought highly enough of him to give him a second shot.

Pat makes everyone better. So, these guys...who knows?? Could be a real jewel in Coates.
