Jake Sternberger
Chiefs are working him out
Tell me about him |
He's a POOR man's Kelce.
Best feature is probably his hands, he makes the routine catches and will pull them down in traffic. Solid route runner. He's not going to run away from anyone and isn't nearly as fast as Kelce. He's a poor blocker. He spent time at a few schools during his college career, so there may be a lot of untapped potential with some consistency in once scheme. |
Pretty sure David Beaty thought he sucked and didn't offer him a scholarship

And I like him a lot. Very dangerous downfield threat who I'd like to see become a much better blocker. |
Another Jace from A&M?

I like the Tight End from UCLA.

What round is he projected to go at?

Dawson Knox ran a 4.57 and 4.51 at his pro day. He’s very similar to Travis Kelce.
Crazy he didn’t catch a TD his last year at Ole Miss. I really want us to draft him. |

I like Sternberger. He's a good mix of Hock and Fant but his blocking needs A LOT of work. A&M didn't ask a ton from him in that regard and it shows. From the big 3 he has the most growth potential IMO. I'd be completely fine burning a pick on him. Personally would prefer Warring though.

This is the Chiefs offense. We dont ask out TE's to block.
|
Demetrius Harris had 371 total snaps last year, 203 of which were in a blocking role. Considering he spent just over 55% of his snaps blocking I'd say that's not true in the slightest.
Secondly, of the 358 snaps we ran the ball Kelce was blocking on 329 of them. That means Kelce was blocking on 92% of our run snaps. Both TE2 and TE1 are being asked to block in this offense. Significantly. |

Want this guy to be on our team so badly. Imagine trying to cover Kelce and Sternberger in the middle of the field?
You can’t |
The Chiefs really need a good TE2 that could become a TE1. I think most will remember what happened when Kelce left the Colts game.

The only question is whether or not he's refined enough in-line or has the baseline athleticism to use a 2 on. I don't think there's a good way to answer that without knowing where our 1st went and what else is on the board. But he'd be in the conversation in the 2nd, I'm sure. |
I can just hear Mitch now.
