I think this is my favorite division. Lots of interesting matchups. I had to go with Batman, LotR, Rocky, and Star Trek.
I think The Godfather may pull the upset here, but again, this is a contest about franchises, and Star Trek's dozen or so films holds up for me. |
Batman/Terminator- tough call here, both great franchises. The Christopher Nolan Batman films though are great and win this matchup for me.
LOTR/Planet of the Apes- this matchup isn't close for me, LOTR easily. Rocky/Friday the 13th- I don't care for either Rocky or Friday the 13th particularly, Rocky wins by a hair. The Godfather/Star Trek- don't overthink this one you nerds, The Godfather is way better. |
LoTR is a ****ing 4 seed? How did that happen?

I don't dislike the Star Trek franchise but The Godfather has 2 movies that are considered to be the best movies of all time so that's a win for that one. I love the Rocky movies, cheesy as they may be. I assume the Creed movies fall into that franchise as well I love those movies too.

Christopher Nolans' Batman is going to push it ahead of Terminator for me.
If it was all of the other Batman's, it would lose. |
LOTR was pretty good, but the Hobbit series that came out afterwards was a ****ing joke.
(Legolas jumping on heads in rivers while shooting arrows and dorf barrels) <-- Forever **** that entire scene. Because of that it should lose.... but Planet of the Apes is nothing special. |

If you were committed to it, you could get through that book in less time than it took to get through the movies. |

Batman's had way to many shitty movies to beat Terminator. |
Batman
Who cares? Rocky - "Adrian ----Aaaa--dri-aannnn" Godfather- It's an offer you can't refuse. |

Other than Rocky a majority of you are a bunch of reeruns.

The first three movies are mostly amazing. Two glaring annoyances were the lame ass walking trees and Gollum, who was only a step below Jar Jar Binks on the annoying scale. |

Tough choices. |

As a general guideline I'd tell people to watch the movies instead of the books if you could only do one for the LOTR series. The movies do so much to bring some of the key battles to life; they're really stellar. It's one of the few instance that I think you get a little more from the movies than the books. But the elves and the ents are much more interesting characters in the books than the movies. And if my memory serves the books lean into Gandalf a lot more heavily than they do Aragorn or even Frodo. But it's been a bit so I can't swear that's actually an accurate memory. |

And I've heard that the ents were much cooler in the books. But they were definitely the weak link in the movies. Compared to how well they did with everything else, by comparison the ents looked like tall high school parade floats. |
All of these are lopsided enough that I'm going to go ahead and close them and move on. I'm impatient. :)
