How would you Grade this Draft?

You have to include Frank Clark. He makes it an A-
|
Thornhill
Darwin Saunders Hardman That's an A+ from me man. Wow. Offense got arguably better while losing Hill, and defense got A LOT better. Veach put in work. |
I'm going to give it a B+ right now. None of these guys have even put on NFL pads, let alone played a snap. If it turns out like Veach and Andy thinks it will, groovy, an easy A.

Of course, we won't really know for two years, but based on what I see on film, I'll give it a B+.
The only disappointment is not having another pick or two, but you have to remind yourself that we added Honey Badger and Clark. |
The board fell our way and made the Frank Clark deal look like a good one.
I think we did a good job accounting for the potential loss of Hill I believe Thornhill will be a good compliment to Mathieu in the secondary and I like the flexibility we are building back there I was so so on the DB However, I think Darwin Thompson is a great fit for the offense and am intrigued by Allegretti. I think we're in OK shape. |
A+!! Every single one of these guys will contribute this year. Trade for Kyle Rudolph and PP and game over!

Gave it a B since it's way to early to predict anything. Did do a good job of getting what appeared to value at the picks and got players where there was a need most of the time. Really don't remember any wtf? picks the draft. They usually have at least 1 or 2.

The only reason it’s not an A+ is because we didn’t come away with a corner on day 2, but I understand that the guys they liked went early in the 2nd and after the Tyreek situation we really needed to keep all of our day 2 picks. |
So with Veach ignoring the CB position for the most part... Should the assumption be he is satisfied with the position as it sits right now? or... He is aggressively trying to pursue trade options (PP, Rhodes, Waynes, etc) and is confident in the outcome?

A+. Clark was genius. Adjusted well on the fly to the Hill situation while being able to add some versatility in the secondary. Saunders looks really promising. Took a flyer on a speedy RB and added potential interior OL depth.
If we had just faced the Hill stuff and had the same flavor of draft as last year, I might’ve joined hands with Mahomo and jumped off a cliff. But there was a method and plan here well executed. |

I went B+. Filled some needs, brought in some good players.
|
B+ and only because we didn’t get one of the CBs in the 2nd round. Thanks Hill.
|
B...First three picks were great. Moving up twice caused us to miss out on more help at WR and LB

To generalize our free agency together with this draft, this offseason in total has been a solid A
Strong on defense, yet expertly sprinkled in the offensive spark picks like Thompson and Hardman to cover the Hill fiasco on the fly... just imagine being a GM blasted in the face by this deal during the draft Veach has so far weathered an incredible series of shitstorms very adeptly Lose Hunt, there’s Williams Lose Hill, here comes Hardman and Thompson Brett Veach finessed the shit out of this situation |
Thank god this shit came out right before the draft

I'm extremely excited to see the first time Hardman or Thompson break into the open field this preseason. |
Emanuel Hall is available as a UDFA.

Mahomes skews the average in favor of 2017, but top to bottom this might be my favorite draft class since 2008.
|
Who the hell knows.
|
I give the Chiefs of Kansas City, who are my favorite team in or around the world, an A. If we include drop kicking Ford, Houston, and Berry, while also trading for Clark and signing Bashaud "The Messiah" Breeland, then my dear Veachie Poo gets an A+ !!!
I'm excited... |
Where was our TE pick??? :#
|
IMO, Clark The Conqueror really should be included in this draft analysis.

Thought we needed a corner earlier and a TE. Like all the picks though. |

Defense got better though |
I gave it a B. It's a hell of a lot better than last year's draft.
Thornhill is the best pick, and should start right away. Hardman will have plenty of opportunities to shine. Saunders should get action as a sub for Nnadi and Jones. |

We don't need Hardman to be Reek.
If he can just be JJ Birden or Willie Davis and Watkins can pick up the slack we'll be fine. |
Well, its a little early to know for sure.
|
Wally converted Tyreek from a running back into one of the most feared receivers in the league. That's a big jump right there. We'll see what he can do with Hardman (who is no Tyreek Hill at this stage).
As we know, the problem with draft analysis is that nobody knows how well these guys will take coaching and what their rate of improvement is going to be. It helps when you have an established system in place and elite players at key positions, though. We have that on offense ... defense is another matter entirely. Although, I really like the way our D-line looks on paper. FAX |

There really wasn't any other way of looking at this that this! Defense is a complete overhaul and MUCH better. Offense got shelled shocked (Hill) to come out like we did. And before anybody starts shitting on me, Let's Go Hardman, learn that damn book, top to bottom and become a fast learner! Rather I wanted you or Campbell isn't the question anymore, you are it, you are up, put on the " BIG BOY " shoes and get to work, do us all proud( and yourself ). So here we are, are we better than last year? I'm going to say YES. OFFENSE: I expect Andy to take our players we have and make it work. DEFENSE: Spags has his work cut out for him making them all learn their assignments. Overall: I feel Andy will find the production , somehow, maybe not as explosive, but enough to go along with a better defense that will help offset anything Tyreek Hill. Pundits will all say,How do you replace Hill? With who ? It's not with who, it's HOW! By certain players on offense stepping up as well as Andy getting more creative as well as our defense being better, slowing teams down, not allowing as many points and being able to make that stop in critical times! |
Considering Tyreek threw them a curveball, this draft was ****ing nailed.
Good job Veach and scouts. |
