24hrs?

That's it?

landlords have 30 days to return a deposit and/or itemized list of damages

i have received neither

they should have fired off an e-mail in 24 seconds if they wanted to avoid a potentially legally damaging situation

King_Chief_Fan 04-30-2019 05:52 PM

Read your rent/ lease agreement regarding your deposit return.

You aren't suing over a deposit. Bad math (depending on deposit).

Have you called them? Harassed them? Spoken with anyone?

A lack of Email response in a matter of 24hrs hardly seems alarming at all. Some companies/people will only check their email in the morning. Sometimes not at all that day. Email is kind of archaic in 2019.

Or they may be looking into your issue and do not have a proper response yet. In which case a phone call in to them would be nice.

Trying to escalate this into a lawsuit because you haven't seen a response in 24hrs seems like quite the spoiled millennial thing to do.

ToxSocks 04-30-2019 05:59 PM

From what you've told us so far:

You moved out, left your forwarding address and received email confirmation that your keys had been received.

Then you did nothing for 30 days until you finally wrote an email (of all things) and since you didn't get an immediate response (****ing millennials) you're panicking.

Dude....

I waited 30 days.

It's their job to return the security deposit, not mine to enforce the return of it.

They are a shitty ****ing management company, **** them.

Yeah?

That's life. Not everything goes by the book.

Try being an adult and lifting up the phone before trying to escalate this into even more drama that will probably cost you more than your security deposit.

Knowing that (and they are all notorious for this), I'd have been more persistent from the start. There's a simple rule when it comes to Accounts Payable. Pay when you absolutely have to, not a moment earlier.

My suggestion is to calm down man and follow Detoxing's advise.

Everything will be alright.

MTG#10 04-30-2019 06:03 PM

They are probably still itemizing all of the damage left from your homo-sexual bukkake parties to send you a proper bill.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-30-2019 06:03 PM

1) Pick up a phone
2) Call them

I'd give them a few more days. It's annoying, but keep in mind, they have lawyers on retainer ready to go. You don't.

I'd keep trying to call.

"Sent an email" LMAO

Pick up the phone and ****ing call them during business hours if you want an immediate response.

After multiple attempts to contact them via email and phone (with voice messages) and still no response, then maybe you're on to something.

For all you know they've sent it and it was lost in the mail, or stolen.

Confirm that they're trying to **** you. 24hrs without an email confirmation means nothing.

Pick up the damn phone.

If after repeated attempts over several days they do not get back to you, then maybe you're on to something.

Wrong. The place was spotless. I practically mother****ing licked the baseboards clean. I'm an excellent tenant with impeccable rental history.

In any case, if there were issues, they had 30 days to inform me.

They've lost that privilege.

ToxSocks 04-30-2019 06:15 PM

It's quite possible that they're ****ing slacking and haven't even assessed the unit. Or haven't finished with any repairs and don't know what to charge you yet.

There could be a number of reasons.

This is why you don't wait 30 days to take action.

Give them 1-2 weeks and start pressuring so they know not to **** around.

If you're a pain in the ass they'll want you taken care of and out of their hair.

Tomorrow, get on the phone and blow their phones up.

Easier to prove there was an official attempt the close the situation if you have returned receipt that they were officially given written notice vs. trying to say you called them and they would respond with "we don't recall that."
