CBS sports online website article: Patrick Peterson to Chiefs "MAKES SENSE"
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/n...s-blockbuster/
3.Cardinals trade Patrick Peterson to the Chiefs Chiefs get: Patrick Peterson Cardinals get: 2020 first-round pick Patrick Peterson won't come out and say it, but it kind of seems like he doesn't want to play for the Cardinals anymore. Just to give you a little refresher on the Peterson situation: The Cardinals corner demanded a trade back in October, only to apologize for making that demand a few months later, but the situation didn't end there, because now, it looks like he wants to be traded again. Peterson has removed the Cardinals name from all of his social media accounts and he's spent the past month taking passive-aggressive shots at the team. If you've ever watched literally any reality show involving a Millennial, those are usually the first two signs that a breakup is coming. Peterson even posted a photo of some of his former teammates who are no longer with him in Arizona, and that photo had an interesting caption, "My boys told me to watch out for the snakes in the long grass!" With a new Cardinals coaching staff now in place, it would make since for them to start fresh with players who actually want to be in Arizona. Clearly, Peterson isn't one of those players. If the Cards start to shop Peterson, every team in the NFL should call them with an offer. Not only is he a three-time All-Pro corner, but he's also under contract for the next two seasons at the very reasonable rates of $11 million (2019) and $12.05 million (2020). Although Peterson could get dealt anywhere, we're sending him to the Chiefs and that's because Kansas City has been doing everything possible to beef up a defensive unit that couldn't stop anyone while ranking 31st overall in the NFL last season. After watching his defense choke away the AFC title game, Andy Reid is clearly trying to make sure that doesn't happen again. Not only have the Chiefs already traded for Frank Clark and Emmanuel Ogbah, but they've also signed Tyrann Mathieu, Alex Okafor and Damien Wilson. If the Chiefs were to add Peterson to the mix, the defense would be nearly as scary as their offense. Also, based on Peterson's Instagram picture, it seems Peterson would probably be pretty excited about the chance to reunite with Mathieu. #PRAY4PP!!!!! |

1st rounder? Pass.

But, I understand the opposing view that’s why we need cheap draft picks to counterbalance the money due Mahones. |

I’d bet the take a 3rd. |

The Chiefs are so all in this year that anything other than a bowl is a fail so...

Why Pass? Mortgaging too much future? Expand. |
No thanks

Its easy to say pass until it's week 12 and you are getting roasted in the secondary with no answer.

Nah, no thanks.
If they'd take a 3rd or something, sure I guess go for it. Other than that? Nah. |

Let Peterson get really salty first, then move in.

I'd be ecstatic if we get PP. If we can get this done, I will have an orgasm of epic proportion. Earth shattering. The Indonesian tsunami of 2014 will have nothing on me.

A first and a third for Peterson and the Cards third.

Or we can offer the 2nd next year (SF Dee Ford) which may be about the same relative value as your proposed offer. |

Ok gang!
We have to get this thread to 2000 posts to make this happen. LET'S GO!!!!!!! |

1st rounder that probably ends up being 29-32? Ehh, I don’t think I’d mind.
A lockdown corner like PP immediately makes this defense top 10, maybe top 5. |
Quote:
|
So we gonna go from the 31st D to #5?
|
Let's just trade our first round pick every ****ing year. Who needs young cost controlled talent anyways?

The draft pick has value yeah but this would be a unique opportunity to acquire one of the best corners in football, an extremely valuable position. He’s also a great leader. |

You gotta think about the impact of a player like this. He makes everyone else’s job easier on defense. You can do different things schematically, whether it be letting him shut down the opposing #2 WR or having him cover the #1 with less safety help than most corners would need.

Would you rather have Frank Clark or that DE the Seahawks picked? |

So, since I have dumbass Carcosa blocked I can't read what was in the OP. I went to CBSSports.com and found an article called 7 trades that make sense. I assume that's the right article? If it is, then I found some interesting things in there. Mainly that he had 2 years left on his contract at $11 and $12 million. Now, I'm guessing that he would want a new contract as part of the trade. Should the Chiefs give him a new contract right away if they make the trade? I mean, nothing has been said about why he wants out of Arizona. But I'm guessing money because of his snakes in the grass comment. That makes me think that he was promised a rework on his deal and the Cards changed their minds. I don't know. Is there anything out there to support that idea?

Sell him on winning a Super Bowl, and if it doesn’t work, so be it. |
Why do people respond to okchiefs? Dude just bitches to bitch. That’s every single post he makes.
He’s been bitching about this team not trying to get a good corner for several months and now that a report comes out about doing that, he still bitches. |

I get that he is a great CB and has been so consistent but at the end of the day, he is 29 years old playing the CB position, where we see plenty of players decline sharply around 30 years old.
He is not worth anything more than Peters, who was a top 10 CB, 25 years old and still on his rookie contrat at the time Veach traded him. So I'm good with a 2nd and 4th in 2020, which is more than what this team got for Peters, but anything more nope! It doesn't make much difference but Arizona is not trading from a position of strength either as it's clear Peterson has made up his mind that he is leaving. |

Ok he's better at the position than Peters is....he actually doesn't give up catches instead of just making big plays.

I'd make the move, even at the expense of the 2020 1st. Fuller needs to be in the slot as much as possible, Ward is unproven, and Breeland isn't exactly a lockdown CB. Not much can be done to improve the LBs at this point, but PP would round out a completely revamped secondary via talent and leadership. Combined with the new coaching staff, this defense may give us a Woodrow that can cut diamonds.
|
Not for a first.
|
If we get PP............
Our defense "Could" be top 10 next year. |

Lol no, not for a first.
