Tornado Warning for Sauto right now.

rtmike 05-22-2019 07:18 PM

What is it with Joplin man?

Hope all CP folks as well as everyone else avoids any of bad stuff.

Born and raised in western Kansas and never seen one. I moved up to the Northwest and seen only my 2nd wall cloud, lol. I tell my buddy, that looks a wallcloud? And beings how he was a native, he was like “HUH”?
Sure enough, turn on the am radio and it touched down west of town destroying a kayak clubs rigs and their little shed.

Too many hills and the weather doesn’t do those dramatic changes in temperatures this time a year but I can hook u up with a gallon of h20, lol.

Great Expectations 05-22-2019 07:21 PM

There are some large destructive tornados on the ground north of Joplin.

eDave 05-22-2019 07:21 PM

Went N. of Joplin.

Great Expectations 05-22-2019 07:22 PM

With baseball size hail.

CaliforniaChief 05-22-2019 07:26 PM

That was a close call for Joplin...people still in imminent danger north and east of Joplin.

Great Expectations 05-22-2019 07:27 PM

There is another large storm coming our way in a couple of hours.

Was there a tornado confirmed there? I know we had been watching for it to head through Clinton.

The one that hit between Windsor and Sedalia - 2006? maybe. We were coming back from Kansas City to Springfield and heard about it in Clinton. Went and got photos of it.

My mom is in town and she can't get mara out of her bed by herself. I got hung up and was running late. Sirens started as I rolled into town.
And we were in the car, followed a highway patrol most of the way
But I'll remember that :D

That's hilarious. Wasn't it raining hard?

Your welcome anytime.

Hog's Gone Fishin 05-22-2019 07:59 PM

I'm at lake Texoma and we had one on the lake two days ago. I heard the siren for about 20 minutes as I awoke and thought , gee that's odd. then I heard the hail pounding the trailer and it clicked that it was a tornado siren. I went out on the front porch and noticed ALL the neighbors were gone. I guess they went to the community shelter. I went back to bed.

Per one of my mets:

#BREAKING: Per scanner traffic in Jefferson City... FD issued an All-Call for available fire/rescue to report to duty. Multiple locations with people trapped in buildings. #MOwx

Loneiguana 05-22-2019 11:20 PM

Just had one touch down in my subdivision in central mo. A lot of trees down and people without roofs. I lost shingles, unsure how bad the damage is.

It probably went right down the street.

About 3 firetrucks are out checking on my neighbors with trees coming down on their roof.

So far, everyone seems okay.

Do you have a tarp or tarps? If you feel safe doing it, it might be a good move to get up on your roof and get them over the parts of your roof missing shingles to try and stave off as much water damage as you can. Sucks it's middle of the night.....

I'm seeing all kinds of pics on Facebook with damage from tornados the last couple days. While I would still like to see one live, I don't want it anywhere near my city. Just out in some field where nothing is around.

We're like .25 miles north of it, but it's crazy how that seems to be the damn dividing line between weather. Snow/rain, Storms etc.

I know they're still assessing the damage in Jefferson City, but the fact that there aren't any deaths there, let alone widespread loss of life, is incredible.

Large tornadoes going through populated areas at night is about the worst thing.

Bowser 05-23-2019 08:53 AM

Luckily only a small section of shingles on the west side were blown off. The cap needs work and one corner might be missing one of two shingles. Not too bad compared to some of my neighbors. About to put a tarp up.

The wind pulled my canoe out from tied under my porch and flung it into the yard. Lost my trashcan. Lol.

You can track the path of debris from out of the subdivision, across a cow field and then thr couple miles to highway 54 where it turned north to Jeff city.

It's crazy that a tornado can rip your neighbor's roof clean off, but you just have some shingles missing and a misplaced canoe. Tornadoes are so scarily random.

Glad you survived it with just a glancing blow, as it were. Good luck with the cleanup efforts.

That said Gary lezak on 810 whb said this morning and brings it into perspective "90% of people in Oklahoma have never seen a tornado." This kinda put it in perspective of chances you will get struck.
